NICKELODEON ANNOUNCES 2019 KIDS’ CHOICE AWARDS NOMINEES & NEW HOST – DJ KHALED
In breaking news, Double Dare host Liza Koshy has revealed DJ Khaled as the new superstar host of the highly anticipated 2019 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, which will be fast-tracked from Los Angeles, to premiere in Australia on Monday, March 25 at 5.30pm (AEDT) on Nickelodeon.
Liza announced the news, which also included this year’s nominees, via a first-time Kids’ Choice Awards nomination livestream event across Nickelodeon’s YouTube and social channels.
This year, DJ Khaled will bring his music, signature catch phrases and larger-than-life personality to the Kids’ Choice Awards stage. Kids across the globe will have a front-row seat to the next big things in kid culture from the hottest upcoming movies, music, gaming and rising talent, while continuing to celebrate their favorites from the past year. Kids everywhere will be able to experience the show across all Nickelodeon screens and platforms, as Nick brings the slime and surprises they love.
“Father of Asahd is here to let you know the biggest party of the year is about to go up! That’s right, March 25th I’m your host, DJ Khaled for the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. I’ll see you soon!” said DJ Khaled.
From the set of Double Dare, Koshy introduces five new categories for voting including; Favorite TV Host, Favorite TV Judges, Favorite Superhero and Favorite Gamer, and, for the first time, kids will get to decide how they want to help the world in a new category called How Do You Want to Help?
Celebrating kids’ favourites across movies, television, music and digital, this year’s Australian and New Zealand nominees include: KJ APA, SAM KERR, AMY SHARK, DEAN LEWIS, COOPER CRONK, SCOTT MCLAUGHLIN and JED HOCKIN, among others.
Kids across Australia and New Zealand can vote for their favourite local celebrities in categories such as Favourite Sports Star which sees Aussie football player Sam Kerr up against 2018 Supercars champion Scott McLaughlin, while Amy Shark and Dean Lewis battle it out for Favourite Music Maker. Over in the world of YouTube and all things social media, online gamer and Twitch streamer Lachlan Power takes on football trickster Jed Hockin as well as full-time actor, part-time social media star and musician KJ Apa for Favourite Content Creator.
Aussies nominated for international categories include Troye Sivan for Favourite Global Music Star, 5 Seconds of Summer for Favourite Song with Youngblood, and Chris Hemsworth for Favourite Movie Actor and Favourite Superhero. (See full list of nominees both local and international below.)
