First Look at Isabela Moner in Paramount's 'Dora the Explorer' Movie
Paramount Players announced today that the motion picture adaptation of Nickelodeon’s beloved Peabody Award-winning children’s animated series, Dora the Explorer, began principal photography on location in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, on Monday, August 6, 2018. The production, being directed by 11-time Emmy and four-time BAFTA nominee James Bobin (The Muppets, Muppets Most Wanted, Flight of the Conchords) marks the lovable Latina character’s big screen debut (and first live-action adaptation on any platform) after fourteen seasons (2000-2014) and 172 episodes on Nickelodeon. The film is a Paramount Players and Nickelodeon production in association with Walden Media. The film is being supported by the Queensland Government via Screenland Queensland. Paramount is slated to release the film on August 2, 2019.
Dora the Explorer stars Isabela Moner (100 Things to Do Before High School, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Transformers: The Last Knight, Sicario: Day of the Soldado, Instant Family) in the film’s title role. Having spent most of her life exploring the jungle with her parents nothing could prepare Dora (now a teenager) for the most dangerous adventure ever – High School. Always the explorer, Dora quickly finds herself leading Boots (her best friend, a monkey), Diego, and a rag tag group of teens on a live-action adventure to save her parents and solve the impossible mystery behind a lost Inca civilization.
Seventeen-year-old actress Moner is joined in the film by one of Mexico’s biggest stars, Eugenio Derbez (Overboard, Instructions Not Included, How to Be A Latin Lover), who plays Alejandro, a mysterious jungle inhabitant who tries to protect the teenagers from the marauders. The film also features big screen newcomer Micke Moreno (Escobar: Paradise Lost), in the role of cousin Diego; Nicholas Coombe (Spy Kids: Mission Control, Midnight Sun, Search and Destroy, The Magicians, Imaginary Mary, Midnight Sun) as Randy, a fellow high schooler who develops an immediate crush on Dora; Madeleine Madden (Picnic at Hanging Rock, Tidelands) as the school’s snooty class president, Sammy; and Academy Award nominee Adriana Barraza (Babel, Amores Perros, Thor, The 33) as Dora’s grandma, Abuelita Valerie. Village Roadshow Studios, where the production will headquarter, has been host to several major Hollywood movies in the last few years, including The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, The Shallows, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok and, most recently, DC’s Aquaman. In addition to designer Hennah’s stage builds, the production will utilize Queensland’s diverse landscape, notably tropical forests near Tamborine Mountain and Tallebudgera, to portray Dora’s jungle habitat.
Moner actually has a history with the Dora franchise, having previously voiced the character Kate on the animated sequel TV series Dora and Friends: Into the City!, which aired for two seasons on Nickelodeon. Dora the Explorer will serve as the Peruvian-American actor's first-time standing in the spotlight on a studio franchise release by herself.
To celebrate shooting commencing on Dora the Explorer, Moner treated fans to the first photo of herself in character, sporting the animated Nickelodeon heroine's iconic signature pink shirt, orange shorts, short brown hair, yellow socks, white sneakers and purple backpack, of course. Moner was clearly the perfect choice to play Dora the Explorer - She looks exactly like the Latina character. In the hit Nickelodeon series, Dora is just a kid, but she will be a teenager in the live-action movie. They grow up so fast!

So far, the response from loyal Dora fans has been positive.

Virgin Media customers can take their favourite TV shows with them – on the move and abroad – with the new download feature on the Virgin TV Go app.
Full House and VIP customers can now download their favourite programmes to compatible phones and tablets following an update to the app.
Virgin Media is offering more than 2,000 episodes of top-notch entertainment from the likes of Fox, ABC and Comedy Central, as well as Virgin TV’s collection of exclusive box sets, such as Kingdom and Ash Vs Evil Dead.
In time for summer holidays, customers can download shows over WiFi, 4G or 3G in the UK or countries in the EU. Any programme downloaded prior to leaving the UK or EU can be watched anywhere else in the world offline.

Virgin TV Go app offers the best entertainment on the box with new download feature

Virgin Media customers can take their favourite TV shows with them – on the move and abroad – with the new download feature on the Virgin TV Go app.
Full House and VIP customers can now download their favourite programmes to compatible phones and tablets following an update to the app.
Virgin Media is offering more than 2,000 episodes of top-notch entertainment from the likes of Fox, ABC and Comedy Central, as well as Virgin TV’s collection of exclusive box sets, such as Kingdom and Ash Vs Evil Dead.
In time for summer holidays, customers can download shows over WiFi, 4G or 3G in the UK or countries in the EU. Any programme downloaded prior to leaving the UK or EU can be watched anywhere else in the world offline.

Nickelodeon Announces New Limited-Run Female Driven Animated Series 'Middle School Moguls' [Updated]
Nickelodeon Animation Studio has revealed on the studios' official Career Opportunities website that they are currently looking for four storyboard artists to work on a brand-new limited-run female driven animated series titled Middle School Moguls! The script-driven will follow the adventures of four girls who attend a Mogul Academy for gifted students.
Update (8/13): Actor Sean Patrick Thomas has revealed in a post on Instagram that Nickelodeon is planning to premiere Middle School Moguls in 2019! Sean also revealed that he and fellow actor Garcelle Beauvais will be voicing the characters “Mr. & Mrs. Pierre” on the show!
Middle School Moguls will have four "half-hour" episodes (22-minutes each). Two storyboard artists will work as a team and each team will work on 2 episodes.
Based in Burbank, California, these positions will start work in July 2018 and continue for 14 weeks.
Although currently unconfirmed, it is thought that the series will be based on the Middle School Moguls (formerly iBesties) brand. Founded in 2014 by sisters Gina and Jenae Heitkamp, The Middle School Mogul brand is passionate about inspiring girls to create, innovate, and reach beyond their dreams, and the Middle School Moguls, a character-driven doll, book and online edutainment line for girls, ages 6-11, is the first product line from Gengirl Media. In an interview with UCI - Applied Innovation, Gina Heitkamp mentioned that she would like to have a Middle School Moguls cartoon series on Nickelodeon.

Viacom Int’l Taps Brendan Yam as VP and GM of Viacom Digital Studios International
To help lead its efforts in short-form digital content, Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN), a division of Viacom Inc., has appointed Viacom veteran Brendan Yam (pictured) to be its Vice President (VP) and General Manager (GM) of Viacom Digital Studios International (VDSI) — a new unit focused on creating, distributing and monetizing digital native content for Viacom’s flagship brands outside of the U.S., doubling down on Viacom’s new strategy.
The news follows Viacom gearing up its efforts to create short-form content for digital platforms based on intellectual property and characters from networks including Nickelodeon, MTV and Comedy Central.
Yam will manage new business development and commercial opportunities related to international short-form, including branded content and licensing deals, and content and platform partnerships. With three production hubs, the new unit will create original digital series, topicals, co-commissions and complementary shorts with a pipeline that includes VIMN, Viacom Digital Studios (VDS), Buenos Aires-based channel Telefe, and Brazilian YouTube channel Porta dos Fundos.
As head of Viacom Digital Studios International, Yam will report to Katherine Liu, Senior Vice President (SVP), strategy and business development for Viacom International Media Networks and Kelly Day, president of Viacom Digital Studios.
Previously, Yam, who has been wtih Viacom since 2005, served as Vice President, Multiplatform for MTV and Comedy Central International, and Head of Business Development for Digital. In his most recent role, he led efforts to develop a strategy to harness VIMN’s strengths into a robust business unit that encompasses short-form content production, distribution, publishing, and commercialization.
“Viacom has prioritized reaching digital-first audiences, and with over 3.1 billion cumulative subscribers in more than 180 countries and territories, our international youth audience is key to delivering on Viacom’s goals,” said David Lynn, President and CEO, VIMN. “I’m confident that with Brendan’s passion for and knowledge of the digital, mobile and social landscape he and his team will elevate our short-form business and drive engagement around the world.”
“Viacom Digital Studios International will be fully aligned with our U.S. business as we provide a compelling pipeline of content that can be localized and commercialized around the world,” said Day. “Like our flagship brands, we will maximize our international content pipeline as well, taking internationally originated content and making it available to our audiences in the U.S.”
Viacom Digital Studios unveiled its first digital slate including four digital originals for Nickelodeon’s YouTube channel, at the company’s first-ever NewFront presentation in April. The company also recently acquired digital media company Awesomeness to bolster its burgeoning digital portfolio.
Viacom Digital Studios has been a big part of Viacom’s growth recently, with total video views and watch time increasing 112% and 104% year-over-year for the latest quarter.
