Los Angeles, CA, May 1, 2018 — Jonas & Co, ad agency/production company hybrid, won an Emmy in “Outstanding Daytime Promotional Announcement-Brand Image Campaign” for the Nick Jr. spot, “Girls in Charge: Girl Power Campaign” by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences on Friday, April 27 at the Daytime Creative Arts Emmy© Awards Ceremony.

Jonas & Co partnered with the Nickelodeon Preschool Brand Creative team to create an original video that illustrates girl power in order to counteract the findings in recent studies that girls are not encouraged to pursue some career paths as young as six years old.

The one-minute original spot, which has run worldwide since summer 2017, plays off the tropes of a Hollywood action movie trailer blending real girls with Nick Jr.’s popular characters including Dora the Explorer, PAW Patrol, Shimmer and Shine, Rusty Rivets, Bubble Guppies and Nella the Princess Knight: together they form the most unstoppable team of girl action heroes ever assembled and are ready to take over the world!

'SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical' Nominated For 12 Awards In The 72nd Annual Tony Awards [Updated W/ Cast & Crew Reactions]

After soaking up impressive totals in last week’s Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards nominations, the American Theatre Wing has announced the Sponge-Tastic news that Nickelodeon’s smash hit SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical has received 12 nominations in the 72nd Annual Antoinette Perry “Tony” Awards, including for Best Musical, making the show the most nominated Broadway show this theatre season!

The impressive total among the best of Broadway showcases the ability of Viacom brands to connect with audiences across a range of formats as the company moves deliberately into the live events space under CEO Bob Bakish. As Viacom branches out beyond its core television and film business, each of its six flagship brands will host live events this year, including Nickelodeon’s Slimefest in Chicago, Comedy Central’s Clusterfest in San Francisco, and the BET Experience in Los Angeles.

SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical, which sprang from Viacom’s deep intellectual property library, also earned 22 of the top nominations from the Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards (11 nominations from each institution).

Marking 72 years of excellence on Broadway, The Tony Awards, hosted by Tony Award Nominees Sara Bareilles and Josh Groban, will be broadcast live from the Radio City Music Hall on CBS, on Sunday, June 10th, 8:00 – 11:00 p.m. (ET/PT time delay). The 2018 Tony Awards are presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing.

Legitimate theatrical productions opening in any of the 41 eligible Broadway theatres during the current season may be considered for Tony nominations. The 2017/2018 eligibility season began April 28, 2017 and ended April 26, 2018. The Tony Awards will be voted in 26 competitive categories by 842 designated Tony voters within the theatre community.

Nickelodeon Netherlands Announces 'Nickelodeon Familie Festival', a Brand-New Festival for Kids and Families

Nickelodeon Benelux has announced plans to host its first-ever Nickelodeon Familie Festival in the Netherlands (Nederland) this summer!

Taking place on Sunday 26th August 2018 at the beach in Almeerderstrand, Almere between 10:00 uur to 18:30 uur, Nickelodeon Familie Festival is a brand-new family-centric festival specially designed for kids aged 6-12 years and their parents. The entire day will feature live performances from many well-known Dutch artists and lots of activities inspired by hit Nickelodeon shows.

Viacom Kids & Family will be working with Tribe Company, known for De Vrienden van Amstel LIVE! and Strandfestival ZAND to bring the Nickelodeon Familie Festival experience to fans this summer.

(NASDAQ: HAS), a global play and entertainment company, and Saban Properties LLC today announced that the companies have signed a definitive agreement for Hasbro to purchase Saban’s Power Rangers and several other entertainment brands, including My Pet Monster, Popples, Julius Jr., Luna Petunia, Treehouse Detectives and others, in a combination of cash and stock valued at $522 million.

“Power Rangers is an iconic brand built on a heritage of great storytelling and merchandising with tremendous upside potential when fully executed across Hasbro’s Brand Blueprint,” said Brian Goldner, Hasbro’s chairman and chief executive officer. “Shortly after entering into our licensing arrangement, it became clear that now was the time to begin investing in unlocking Power Rangers’ full potential. Created by Haim Saban and launched in 1993, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers quickly became a pop culture phenomenon. Today, Power Rangers is one of the longest running kids’ live-action series in television history with nearly 900 episodes produced to date. The TV series, currently in its 25th season with Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel, and feature films, including 2017’s movie with Lionsgate, follows the adventures of a group of ordinary teens who morph into superheroes and save the world from evil. The first set of products from Hasbro will be available in spring 2019.

Transaction Details
Hasbro has previously paid Saban Brands $22.25 million pursuant to the Power Rangers master toy license agreement, announced by the parties in February of 2018, that was scheduled to begin in 2019. Those amounts are being credited against the purchase price. Under the terms of the purchase agreement, Hasbro will pay an additional $229.75 million in cash and will issue $270 million worth of Hasbro common stock for the Power Rangers brand and several other entertainment brands. The agreement includes all related intellectual property, category rights and content libraries owned by Saban Properties and its affiliates. The transaction is subject to a number of customary closing conditions, including obtaining required regulatory approvals, and is expected to close during the second quarter of 2018.

The transaction, including intangible amortization expense, is not expected to have a material impact on Hasbro’s 2018 results of operations.

On this day 19 YEARS AGO, we met SpongeBob! 🍍


Since its launch in July 1999, SpongeBob SquarePants has emerged as a pop culture phenomenon. The series has been the most-watched animated program with kids 2-11 for more than 15 consecutive years, and over the past several years, it has averaged more than 100,000,000 total viewers every quarter across all Nickelodeon networks.

The character-driven cartoon chronicles the nautical and sometimes nonsensical adventures of SpongeBob, an incurably optimistic and earnest sea sponge, and his undersea friends in the fictional underwater city of Bikini Bottom. Among those friends are SpongeBob's best friend, a pink starfish named Patrick Star, his neighbor and co-worker octopus Squidward Tentacles, and Sandy Cheeks, a squirrel from Texas.

SpongeBob SquarePants is the most widely distributed property in Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) history, seen in more than 208 countries and territories and translated in 55+ languages. The Paramount Pictures feature film The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie debuted Nov. 19, 2004, and a second film, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water hit theaters Feb. 6, 2015, landing at #1 opening weekend.

Nickelodeon France To Premiere 'Blurt!' On Saturday 19th May 2018

NICKELODEON FRANCE TO PREMIERE NEW ORIGINAL TV MOVIE, BLURT, ON SATURDAY 19^TH MAY 2018

STARRING HENRY DANGER’S JACE NORMAN, JOJO SIWA AND DANIELLA PERKINS

Nickelodeon France will premiere a new original TV movie, Blurt (formerly Inside Voice), on Saturday 19th May 2018, starring Jace Norman (Henry Danger, Adam et ses clones, Un ami qui tombe pile-poil), JoJo Siwa (Lip Sync Battle Kids : le meilleur playback) and Daniella Perkins (Knight Squad). The live-action comedy tells the story of Jeremy Martin (Jace Norman) who, after a comical virtual reality mishap, starts speaking every thought he has out loud and to complicate matters, he happens to be running in the school election. The film is locally titled Regarde Oups ! in France.

Jeremy Martin is a nice-guy and when he puts on mysterious virtual reality glasses at the mall, he suddenly loses his “inside voice” and starts spouting every thought he has out loud. Making matters worse, Jeremy is running for student council president against his classmate Milly (Daniella Perkins), who is full of great ideas to improve the school. Desperate to get back to normal, Jeremy and his sister Victoria (JoJo Siwa) must figure out how to convince his brain that he can speak up for himself. Can they do it, or will Jeremy be stuck saying his thoughts out loud forever?!

The virtual reality sequences featured in the movie are being developed and created by Nickelodeon’s Entertainment Lab, the network’s new division spearheading long-range research and development efforts around new technologies for Nick and its audience. Blurt is the second on-air project fed through the lab, following Incroyable Bibliothèque de Mr. Lemoncello.

Blurt is executive produced by Scott McAboy and Michael Sammaciccia. Amy Sydorick is serving as producer. Jace Norman is serving as co-producer. The TV movie was written by Adrian Vina (Liar, Liar, Vampire) and is directed by Michelle Johnston (Another Cinderella Story: If The Shoe Fits).

Blurt made its world debut on Nickelodeon USA on Monday 19th February 2018, and will be rolling out on Nickelodeon channels worldwide throughout 2018.

In additional news, Nickelodeon France will be hosting a "We Love Animation" ("On Les Dessins Animes") stunt on May 2018!
