Aqueous to Host '90s Nicktoons Celebration at New York’s Knitting Factory on Halloween

Buffalo, NY - Buffalo’s fan-favorite up-and-coming jam band Aqueous recently released a brand-new studio LP, Color Wheel. In promotion of this new collection, the band is prepping to embark on their most ambitious and extensive headlining tour to date, which kicks off this weekend in St. Paul, MN, and spans through to New Year’s Eve. During the tour, the band will find themselves celebrating Halloween at Brooklyn, New York’s Knitting Factory on Wednesday 31st October 2018, in which the band, with support from Mungion will host a fun themed '90s Nicktoons themed performance, which will pay tribute and celebrate the history of Nickelodeon's iconic animated series from the '90s!

Each Halloween show, Aqueous challenges themselves to take on a theme to inform the performance. In the past, the band has chosen The Wizard of Oz, Back To The Future, and Super Mario Brothers as a template for their Halloween performances. This year, the group has chosen to pay tribute to everyone’s favorite kids channel growing up, Nickelodeon.

"We take Halloween pretty seriously over at camp AQ. In previous years we’ve done some wild themes where we’ll incorporate all the music and the whole vibe of whatever the theme is," shares Aqueous guitarist, Mike Gantzer. "This year for our show at the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn, we wanted to pay tribute to a golden era of cartoon history: Nick Toons! We all grew up loving shows like Doug, Rocko’s Modern Life, Rugrats, Ren and Stimpy, Hey Arnold, Spongebob Squarepants, and the list goes on and on. The music from a lot of these shows is so awesome, and it’s gonna be a blast diving down this rabbit hole of nostalgia and blending the whole Nickelodeon vibe within the AQ sound. Add Mungion as support to the mix, and you’ve got a pretty bombastic show going down for Halloween this year."

Aqueous Delivers ‘Nick Toons’ Halloween Show In Brooklyn: Pro-Shot Video

Buffalo-based jam quartet Aqueous fit songs from Nickelodeon cartoons into their Halloween show at the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn last night. Guitarist Mike Gantzer was dressed as Quailman from Doug, multi-instrumentalist Dave Loss was dressed as Chuckie from Rugrats, bassist Evan McPhaden was dressed as Rocko from Rocko’s Modern Life and drummer Rob Houk was dressed as Ren from Ren & Stimpy. Videographer MKDevo shared and streamed pro-shot video from Aqueous’ “Nick Toons” concert.

Aqueous kicked off the festivities by debuting a cover of “Killer Tofu” from the show Doug. The band then plucked the recently debuted “Realize Your Light” from their new Color Wheel album before grooving on classic “The Median.” Next, the foursome worked the theme from Catdog into the beloved original “Don’t Do It.” And fittingly, “Split The Difference” was split by the theme songs to Rocko’s Modern Life and Rugrats to end the first set.

Last night’s second set began with a sequence that paired original “Aldehyde” and the theme from Ren & Stimpy. From there, Aqueous transitioned from “Good Enough” into a debut cover of Ween’s “Ocean Man,” a song featured in The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie. The seamless conclusion to the set also saw openers Mungion switch out with members of Aqueous one by one for a performance of the Hey Arnold theme song. Aqueous returned to close out the frame with a run of “What’s The Connection?” > the Doug theme song > “Weight Of The Word.” The quartet ended the night by debuting their take on the Rocket Power theme song.
