Here’s our tips on how to get the most out of this year’s festival at Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park …
Book Your Tickets
Get them now here – buying online is best, as tickets are more expensive on the door, and we might sell out! Make sure you select “Print At Home” under “Shipping” to get your tickets delivered straight to your email inbox.
We have been working hard to make sure there's plenty of value included in your festival ticket. You’ll get access to more exhibitors and features than ever, with both sweet and savoury exhibitors, grandstand seating at the Callebaut Test Kitchen, access to the Callebaut Royal Agricultural Chocolate Judging and Sculpture Competition, access to the smooth Kids Zone with Nick Jr's PAW Patrol, free rides on Charlie & The Chocolate Factory's Fabulous Ferris Wheel, you’ll instantly go in the running to win a trip for two to Macao and more!
How to Get There
This year’s festival is right on the doorstep of Olympic Park Station, so public transport is your best bet! There will be direct services to Olympic Park Station running from Central across the two days, so getting there couldn’t be easier. Check your local bus provider for services to Sydney Olympic Park. If you’d prefer to drive, Sydney Olympic Park has multiple parking stations, walking distance from Sydney Showground. Consider pre-booking parking, as there will be football games on at ANZ Stadium over the weekend.
Bring your Card
The smooth Festival of Chocolate is going completely cashless in 2018.
All our exhibitors will be set up with an EFTPOS system, so all you’ll need is a card (credit, debit and EFTPOS will all be accepted) to indulge in our weekend of sweet treats!
Get a Hit List Together
There are oh so many yummy treats – both sweet and savoury – on offer at this year’s smooth Festival of Chocolate. We’ve made sure you’re covered to get a full day out of your visit to the festival, with more than just decadent desserts – although it’s hard to say no to a piece of cake or crispy cannoli for lunch! Check out the exhibitor’s list here to get your hit list together for the day.
Take a look at the Map
We’re days away from launching this year’s Festival Map – keep an eye out on the smooth Festival of Chocolate Facebook. We’ll be housing it here on the website too when it’s ready to share!
Book a seat in The Callebaut Test Kitchen
It’s a favourite of ours, so we’re thrilled that its back – The Callebaut Test Kitchen, proudly built & designed by Knebel Kitchens is your chance to see some of Australia’s best chefs in action, as they create their signature dishes on stage. If you’re keen to get a taste of their demonstration dish, buy yourself a reserved ticket – you’ll get a reserved seat, a sample of the demonstration dish to try at the end of the session, along with a goodie bag to take home with you. You’ll be able to buy your tickets at the festival, but we recommend buying your tickets online now to avoid disappointment, as they may sell out. Every reserved ticket you buy for The Callebaut Test Kitchen will put you in the running to win a night out in November at Sam Smith’s Qudos Bank Arena Show too!
Your general admission ticket allows you to watch Test Kitchen sessions for free from the grandstand seating, but to taste the dishes, you will need to buy a reserved ticket.
Learn A Little More About Dessert … and Wine
They’re a match made in heaven – dessert and wine. Wine Selectors have you covered if you’d like to learn a little more about making that match just a little more heavenly. Book your ticket to enjoy four wine samples from Wine Selectors expertly paired with desserts from acclaimed restaurant, 12-Micron at Barangaroo. You’ll get a goodie bag to take away with you too! Check out the sessions, and get your ticket now here. You must be over 18 to enjoy Wine Selectors Dessert Masterclasses. Drink Responsibly. The smooth Festival of Chocolate recommends public transport as the best way to get to & from the festival.
Something for the Kids
We’ve created the smooth Kids Zone this year, after you told us you’d like more for the kids to do while you relax. There’s performances from Nick Jr’s PAW Patrol, Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Jumpin’ Kids, cooking classes with Baked by Andres (suitable for ages 5 to 12 years), and N2 Extreme Gelato (for kids aged over 12 years only), the chance to meet some of your favourite characters and more. You can check out the smooth Kids Zone line up & time table here.
And Of Course, Relax!
It’s the weekend. Put your feet up and relax! We’ve made the move out to a bigger space, Sydney Showground, aiming to make this year’s festival safer and more relaxing than ever. We have ticketed the event with the view to manage how people access the space, making it more secure than in previous years.
We hope you enjoy this year’s smooth Festival of Chocolate, September 1 & 2 at Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park – we can’t wait to see you there!
