Sunway Lagoon Treats Orphans to the Best Day Ever

Malaysia - Over 70 children from Rumah Anak-Anak Yatim Damai, Kuang and their caretakers gathered at the entrance of Sunway Lagoon last Sunday for a fun-filled day at the theme park. Sunway Lagoon organised the event.

Although this was not the first time the popular theme park had played host to underprivileged kids, it was the largest the team has ever organised.

The day began with a Sunway Lagoon’s welcome dance at the entrance of the park. At the carousel inside the theme park, the kids were welcomed by Sunway Lagoon’s mascot couple, Captain Quack and Lady Quack in traditional costumes.

The group of roughly 70 kids were made up of 45 girls and 45 boys aged between 3 to 19 years old.

After a meet & greet and photo session, the children were ushered to the Sunway Lagoon Wildlife Park for a personalised tour and a close look at more than 150 species of animals that are housed at the park.

During the tour, the children were introduced to the white tigers Samson and Asha, the white lions Zola and Zuri, panthers, white gibbons, the black-eared marmoset and many more. They even got to feed rabbits and guinea pigs, pet chickens and turtles, and learnt to fish using a net.

As noon approached, the children were treated to a Wildlife Multi-Animal Show at the Wildlife Theatre, where they not only got to meet more animals at the show but also learn more about them as well.

Next, the children were led to the Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon, Asia’s first Nickelodeon-themed land where they got to meet and take photos with SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star, who were also dressed in traditional costumes.

Even after all that, the day was far from over. The children were then taken to the Surf Deck for lunch, games, and a surprise birthday celebration.

Each child was also presented with a Kool Raya gift bag containing educational materials and stationery items by the Sunway Lagoon department heads.

After the festivities, the children were free to enjoy everything Sunway Lagoon has to offer for the rest of the day.
