Christina Sajous
Christina Sajous will join the cast of SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical for the final weeks of its Broadway run. The Broadway alum will take on the role of Sandy Cheeks at the Palace Theatre, replacing original cast member Lilli Cooper beginning Tuesday, July 24.
Cooper departs the production July 22 and will go on to appear in Chicago’s pre-Broadway engagement of Tootsie.

As previously announced, SpongeBob SquarePants will play its final performance September 16 before the Palace Theatre temporarily closes as part of a site redevelopment plan that will elevate the venue 29 feet from street level. A North American tour is expected to kick off in fall 2019.
Sajous previously appeared on Broadway in Holler If Ya Hear Me (also at the Palace), Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, Baby It’s You!, and American Idiot.
The critically acclaimed SpongeBob SquarePants musical was named Best Musical by the Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle and earned 12 Tony Award nominations - the most nominated musical of the 2017-2018 theatre season - including nods for Best Musical, director Tina Landau, book writer Kyle Jarrow, title player Ethan Slater (in his Broadway debut), and the all-star roster of songwriters (including Sara Bareilles, Cyndi Lauper, and John Legend) who contributed to the score. The awards saw the SpongeBob Musical win for Best Scenic Design of a Musical (David Zinn).
The cast also includes Tony nominee Gavin Lee as Squidward Q. Tentacles, Danny Skinner as Patrick Star, Wesley Taylor as Sheldon Plankton, and Brian Ray Norris as Eugene Krabs.
