Spin Master has revealed more PAWsome details about its upcoming PAW Patrol special "The Mighty Pups" during the leading global children's entertainment company's Q1 2018 Earnings Conference Call!
Set to premiere on Nickelodeon USA during fall 2018, the first-ever hour-long PAW Patrol TV special, the PAW Patrol pups gain superpowers from a meteor that lands in Adventure Bay!
Spin Master will also launching the "Ultimate Rescue" theme for the top-rated CG-animated preschool series during the second half of Season 5 later this year. In "Ultimate Rescue", the PAW Patrol pups will each get a new ultimate vehicle that allows them to travel together on rescue missions. The toyco will also be launching a "Ultimate Rescue" tie-in toy line during fall 2018.
Spin Master also revealed that PAW Patrol continues to perform well, with ratings for the show consistently at the top of Nielsen's Ratings. PAW Patrol was also ranked #1 amongst kids aged 2 to 5 for both new and repeat episodes during the Spin Master's Q1 2018 financial period.
Spin Master are also finding that the average age of recipients of PAW Patrol toys is getting older, as both boys and girls are staying with the franchise longer. This is providing a larger market share for the product line and allows the toy company to participate in profitable, incremental revenue streams driven by licensing, merchandising and broadcast revenues.
Spin Master recently announced that a seventh season of PAW Patrol had been greenlit, and has just launched its inaugural PAW Patrol Little Heroes PAW Awards 2018, which will honour youngsters in the UK who have overcome adversity, outstanding bravery and more, in partnership with Nickelodeon UK.
Additionally, Spin Master has revealed that its brand-new animated preschool series Abby Hatcher, Fuzzly Catcher is now slated for release in 2019! The series will be airing first on Nickelodeon in the U.S. and TVO in Canada, and global distribution will follow.
This adventure comedy series follows our heroin, a 7-year old, Abby Hatcher, as she rescues her favorite creatures, the Fuzzlies, from whatever trouble they have accidentally landed themselves in.
Spin Master be strategically launching the toys following a period of the show being on air. This allows the property to really become established with its preschool audience and builds anticipation for the toys in the market.
GUND, the oldest soft toy brand in the United States, which Spin Master recently acquired, will help Spin Master design and develop some incredible plush inspired by the new Fuzzlies in Abby Hatcher.
During their Q1 2018 Earnings Conference Call, Spin Master told analysts that, in the Pre-School and Girls segments, gross product sales decreased 2.5% to $82.6 million. PAW Patrol sales grew year-over-year, but this growth was more than offset by a decline in sales of Teletubbies and Power Puff Girls licensed products.
In Pre-School and Girls, PAW Patrol continued to grow globally and POS was strong in the quarter. According to NPD, PAW Patrol was the #1 property in the infant-toddler-preschool toy super category in the U.S., U.K. and Australia for Q1. Products featuring the "Sea Patrol" theme first introduced in the second half of Season 4 and airing now in Season 5 are driving sales.
The PAW Patrol Basic Vehicle and PAW Patrol maintains a spot in the top 10 item in the U.S., demonstrating consumers continue to be highly engaged with the brand.
