However, did you know that they weren’t originally red? It’s true — they were actually silver…at least in the book.
The color of the slippers changed to red to take full advantage of the Technicolor process — and this is a fact that Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn's Lizzy Greene just learned about.
“We have a little nod to the past where both Jade [Pettyjohn] and I are wearing the silver slippers for a little Easter Egg bit in the special,” Lizzy told Just Jared Jr.
She also dished about getting to play such an iconic role as Dorothy Gale.
“There were actually rumors long before we actually did it and I was really excited about that prospect,” she says of making a musical episode. “I was the one that was crossing all my fingers, hoping that it would actually happen for us.”
“Then, they told me I was going to be singing and playing Dorothy, and that was just like a pinch me moment because I’ve loved The Wizard of Oz for so long,” Lizzy adds.
I can imagine!
