The Peace Arch News is reporting the exciting news that Nickelodeon and Pacific Bay Entertainment are currently filming their upcoming Nickelodeon Original Movie, Inside Voice, in Guildford Town Centre in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada! Check out the behind the scenes photos below!:
Film crews for the movie have taken over a large area of the mall, according to tweets and photos.
On Monday 17th July 2017, Nickelodeon announced the start of production on a brand-new original TV movie, Inside Voice, starring Jace Norman (Henry Danger, Splitting Adam, Rufus), JoJo Siwa (JoJo Siwa: My World, Dance Moms) and Daniella Perkins (Knight Squad, Legendary Dudas). Set to premiere in 2018, the live-action comedy tells the story of a kid who, after a comical VR mishap, starts speaking every thought he has out loud. To complicate matters, he happens to be running in the school election. Production is underway in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
When nice-guy Jeremy Martin (Jace Norman) puts on mysterious virtual reality glasses at the mall, he suddenly loses his “inside voice” and starts spouting every thought he has out loud. Making matters worse, Jeremy is running for student council president against his classmate Milly (Daniella Perkins), who is full of great ideas to improve the school. Desperate to get back to normal, Jeremy and his sister Victoria (JoJo Siwa) must figure out how to convince his brain that he can speak up for himself.
The virtual reality sequences featured in the movie are being developed and created by Nickelodeon’s Entertainment Lab, the network’s new division spearheading long-range research and development efforts around new technologies for Nick and its audience. Inside Voice is the third project for air to feed through the Entertainment Lab, joining Lincoln Loud “Live” and Nick’s upcoming TV movie Escape from Mr. Lemoncello’s Library.

"Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling" Will Examine How We’ve Become 'Slaves' To Tech
The movie is going to take a strong social stance!
Rocko’s Modern Life is headed back to television after more than 20 years off the air, and everything has changed.
Polygon sat down with show creator Joe Murray and voice actors Carlos Alazraqui (Rocko) and Charlie Adler (Ed Bighead) at San Diego Comic-Con 2017 to talk about Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling, Nickelodeon's upcoming made-for-TV-movie set to air next year. In the film, Rocko returns to Earth — remember, Murray and his team sent him to space in the series finale back in 1996 — and discovers a world obsessed with technology. While his best friends Heffer and Filburt become enamored with social media and constant online connectivity, Rocko turns away from it, trying to salvage his happiness in bubble wrap packaging made of nostalgia.
Asked if Murray was aware that by satirizing an entire generation’s obsession with nostalgia he was targeting a network that caters to that very mindset, the creator laughed.
“If we’re going to bring this back, I have a vision and a direction of how I want this to go,” Murray said. “To Nickelodeon’s credit, they said ‘yeah.’ I actually brought a lot of the old stuff back so there’s plenty of nostalgia, but I feel like it says something about how we are right now socially. It really resonates with this trend we’re seeing.”
Alazraqui added that nostalgia is a “warm, safe blanket for Rocko” and something that he can cling to when everything around him is changing. It was that mentality, Murray said, that drew them to the storyline in the first place.
Murray believes that the reason audiences have become so obsessed with nostalgia is that everything in their day-to-day life is changing so rapidly. The smartphone, for example, was the biggest disruption in people’s lives since the invention of the personal computer and the arrival of the internet. Rocko, Murray added, is scared like everyone else. He clings to his favorite TV show, The Fatheads, because it’s the only familiar aspect of his new life back on Earth.
“Rocko looks at technology as a necessary evolution, but he’s also very aware of the downfalls that come with technology,” Murray said. “He knows that we’re slaves to it.”
Adler said it’s the emphasis on technology, and the show’s ability to satirize the online world many of us now live in, that older fans of Rocko’s Modern Life will appreciate. Adler describes the movie as subversive, like the original series, adding that Static Cling will get people to step back and consider just how they use their smartphones and various social media services.
“We’re making big statements about technology,” Adler said. “People are going to hear it and they’re going to think about it. It’s satire — and it’s the power of satire. Satire is that circus mirror that takes the truth and makes it palpable. That’s all we’ve ever tried to do with Rocko’s Modern Life.”
Murray pointed out that Rocko would see the internet and think it’s a great tool for looking up the ingredients to something or checking on a showtime for a movie, but that was about it. He wouldn’t understand why there was a need for Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat or any of the rest. When Alazraqui made a comment about one specific, high-profile, political Twitter user who could probably learn a thing or two from Rocko’s mentality, Murray and Adler agreed. Adler said there’s never been a better time for a show like Rocko’s Modern Life to make its return. This is an age for people who have something to say, and Murray is already armed with a soapbox and megaphone.
“There’s a great hunger now during these times for the irreverence and satire that holds up a mirror to the circus,” Adler said. “This is the time to do it.”

IDW Announces "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Ghostbusters" Sequel | #NickSDCC
Official IDW Publishing Press Release via NEWSaRAMA:
This November, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the Ghostbusters reunite for an inter-dimensional comic book adventure (and probably a large pizza!) in the upcoming weekly crossover event series from IDW Publishing.
Our story begins when an old adversary traps the Turtles in a ghost dimension, as old adversaries are wont to do. However, all hope is not lost for our Heroes in Half-Shell, as New York City’s resident experts on all things spooky quickly answer the call.
The dream writing team of Erik Burnham (Ghostbusters, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Universe) and Tom Waltz (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, editor for Ghostbusters) are back to tackle scripting duties and will be joined by lead Ghostbusters artist Dan Schoening, whose animated art style has come to define the look of the Ghostbusters comics. An array of multi-talented artists with Turtles credentials are also getting in on the mass hysteria including Pablo Tunica (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Universe), Tadd Galusha (TMNT: Bebop & Rocksteady Destroy Everything), Mark Torres (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), and C.P. Wilson III (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles/Ghostbusters).
“When Erik and I first broached the idea of joining the TMNT with the Ghostbusters way back when, it felt like a wonderfully impossible dream,” said co-writer Tom Waltz. “Well, that dream came true with the first volume in a big way, and now I’m absolutely ecstatic to have the opportunity to once again help bring my two favorite quartets together for another massive comic book crossover event! And, like the first go-around, the events in this story directly flow out of and affect the storylines in both ongoing series.”
“I had such a blast working on the first crossover with Tom, and in the years since, we've talked about what we might do if we ever got a crack at a sequel,” said co-writer Erik Burnham. “When the opportunity came up, we didn't even use a single one of those plans! Instead, we grabbed villains from both universes and mixed them together to form the foundation of a fun story that furthers the ongoing stories of both the Turtles and the Ghostbusters. Even better, we get some more one-on-one scenes, allowing their complementary personalities to shine and we're beyond excited to share!”
When last the Turtles and the original ‘Busters crossed streams in 2014, the Turtles got stuck in the Ghostbusters dimension… along with a brand-new, all-powerful, all-crazy ghost from centuries past! It was met with enthusiasm from both fans and critics with IGN declaring the mash-up of proton packs and ninjutsu “hugely entertaining.”
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles/Ghostbusters 2 #1 hits stores Wednesday, November 1, 2017. Let the ectoplasm fly, dude!

Butch Hartman Working On "Danny Phantom"-Like Series For YouTube
Butch Hartman is a very busy man.
Having just recently finished a comic book, The 3 O'Clock Club, and with a hand in app development, it seems almost impossible that Hartman could find time to dedicate toward building a presence on YouTube. That’s exactly what he’s been doing for the past year, however, taking his channel from 3,000 subscribers to over 100,000. From videos where Hartman ponders what his popular characters from Danny Phantom or The Fairly OddParents look like 10 years later to reimagining the Guardians of the Galaxy and popular Pixar movies, Hartman has found an audience that wants to see what he gets up to next.
It only makes sense, then, that the bouncy, exuberant cartoonist would find a way to give back to the community that has been following him consistently on YouTube. Sitting at the Nickelodeon booth at Comic-Con International: San Diego 2017, waving to fans who stop to take his photo, Hartman leans over to tell Polygon that he has something special in store for everyone.
“I’m working on a series right now that will only be available on YouTube,” Hartman said. “It’s going to be a little bit of anime, a little bit in the Danny Phantom range. It won’t be Danny Phantom, of course, but it will be a show like that. It’s still a ways away and we’re putting the pieces together, but the Butch Hartman channel is going to be where I’m bringing more of my series.”
That doesn’t mean Hartman is severing ties with Nickelodeon. The creator says he has a very good working relationship with Nickelodeon, which is still airing The Fairly OddParents and his new series, Bunsen is a Beast, but like so many other creators, Hartman sees the importance of having an online presence and building up an audience on YouTube — and elsewhere.
In July 2015, Hartman launched the Noog Network on iOS. Those who downloaded and signed up for the app were treated to exclusive videos, games, cartoons and live shows. Hartman has spent a large portion of his time developing the app over the years, and his experience working on different art forms has led to a couple of ideas for other projects he wants to work on. Hartman just finished his first comic book, Three O’Clock Club, and tells Polygon that he has ambitions to work on a video game. It’s just a matter of time and finding the right team.
“It’s been a goal for me for a while now,” Hartman said. “But video games take huge teams to create and I don’t know the first thing about building one. I would love to write the narrative for a game, one for kids, but right now my attention is on YouTube.”
Hartman also confirmed that he’s working with popular anime streaming service Crunchyroll on new videos that will be available on his YouTube channel, which Hartman said he’ll be able to talk more about soon. Even with his attention on YouTube, Hartman said that if Nickelodeon were to greenlight a Fairly OddParents or Danny Phantom movie special, he would of course drop everything to focus on that.
For now, the best look at what Hartman has to offer in the coming months will be on his YouTube channel.
“I’m addicted to the freedom YouTube affords me,” Hartman said. “I’m only going to start producing more and more videos in the coming months. There won’t be any shortage of videos on my end anytime soon.”

Butch Hartman Explains Why Fans May Be Waiting Some Time For A "Fairly OddParents" Movie Adaptation
Seated at the Nickelodeon booth at Comic-Con International: San Diego 2017, just a little past the doors that hundreds of thousands of people will walk through to enter this years SDCC, Butch Hartman is doodling in a sketchbook.
The creator of beloved Nickelodeon series Fairly OddParents, Danny Phantom, T.U.F.F. Puppy and Bunsen is a Beast doesn’t have a care in the world as he signs autographs from adorning fans: twentysomethings who have grown up on his shows. An entire generation of cartoon-engrossed people who found their bit of television comedy through the aforementioned series.
There’s nothing more powerful than nostalgia, an aspect of the industry that Hartman knows quite a bit about. As Polygon's Julia Alexander sits down to talk, casually glancing at a passerby who stopped to take an excited snap of Hartman, nostalgia is clearly the one thing they both have in mind. With Nickelodeon set to bring back some of its most popular Nicktoons, like Hey Arnold!, Rocko’s Modern Life and Invader Zim, in the form of made-to-TV movies, Hartman has to be thinking about doing the same for his most popular Nickelodeon series, Fairly OddParents — which is still on the air — and Danny Phantom.
“I don’t know when it’s coming, but I hope it’s coming soon,” Hartman said of a possible revival of his older shows. “I’ll tell you this though: They’re spinning off all the shows that are older, the ’90s shows. Those are first in line to get the spinoffs. Maybe there’s a Fairly OddParents spinoff coming out in the future, maybe there’s a Danny Phantom one. You never know.
“I can’t say anything officially yet, but let’s leave it at ‘you’ll see.’”
Right now, Hartman has a couple of other projects that he’s focusing on. He is working on an exclusive series for his YouTube channel, has just finished a comic book, The 3 O'Clock Club, and will soon begin working with popular anime streaming service Crunchyroll on videos that he claimed were “top secret.”
Still, Hartman told Polygon that he would love nothing more than to bring back his popular characters for one last hurrah. When asked which character he most wanted to return to — essentially choosing which one of his fictional, hand-drawn children he loved the most — Hartman paused for a second.
“I gotta say that I really love Cosmo [from Fairly OddParents], and I really love Danny,” Hartman said. “Danny was me in high school, just a really awkward guy. I love Timmy [Turner, also from Fairly Odd Parents] too, but the difference between Timmy and Danny is Timmy’s 10, so he’s worried about ice cream. Danny’s 14. He’s worried about girls and dances. That still resonates with me more than anything else.”
Which makes sense. Hartman has an air of confidence about him — one that comes with an impressive career like the one he’s had — but that sense of humility and awkward moments is still present. It’s easy to see that Danny Phantom, his part-human, part-ghost teenager who tries his best to fit in and not get into trouble all while trying to maintain a cool guy persona among his friends, may have been based on Hartman himself.
With that in mind, why, Polygon asked, was Hartman drawn to Cosmo, the charming goof with radiant green hair?
“I just love Cosmo because you can do anything with him and he’s still funny,” Hartman said. “I don’t need to create magic with him; he can be funny by himself. One of the mandates that I put down for Fairly OddParents was these characters have to be funny whether they have magic or not.
“If they’re in a white room with nothing going on, you should be able to laugh at them for 30 minutes. Cosmo can do that.”
It’s evident in just the short amount of time Alexander spent with him that Hartman loves his characters — who are in themselves little pieces of him. Danny Phantom, Timmy Turner and, yes, even Cosmo mean more to him than he’ll ever be able to express with words. He has floated the idea by press and Nickelodeon about bringing his classic characters back for one last hurrah in the form of a made-for-TV movie.
If there’s one thing that we can take away from Polygon's interview with Hartman, it’s that although he has about a hundred different projects on the go, Timmy Turner and the Fairly OddParents are never far from his mind.

Nickelodeon USA To Premiere More New Episodes Of "Power Rangers Ninja Steel" From Saturday 12th August 2017
Nickelodeon USA has announced the super news in the following trailer that the network will start to premiere more brand-new episodes of Saban Brands' Power Rangers Ninja Steel, the 24th season of the iconic, long-standing Power Rangers franchise, from Saturday 12th August 2017!:
The trailer also gives fans a sneak peek at the Ranger's new ninja powers as well as several new enemies they'll confront. Also shown is the Lion Fire Fortress Zord, which makes the already impressive Astro Megazord seem small in comparison.
If the recent toys are any indication, the Ninja Training Gear Mode will be heavily featured in the second half of the season, as will the Gold Ranger's Bull Rider Megazord. The Gold Ranger will also be a heavy focus of the first new episode, as the Rangers continue to learn more about their new ally.
In the franchise's 24th season, Galvanax, the evil champion of the intergalactic game show, Galaxy Warriors, is sending his best warrior contestants to Earth to steal the mythical Ninja Power Stars made of ninja steel so he can rule the universe! To stop him and his warriors, a new team of five heroic teens has formed. With teamwork and great strength, the NINJA STEEL POWER RANGERS: Brody (Red), Preston (Blue), Hayley (White), Calvin (Yellow), and Sarah (Pink) unite to eliminate the threat using new Ninja Powers, powerful weapons, and awesome Megazords made from legendary Ninja Steel. Each epic battle against the Power Rangers is broadcast throughout the universe. Together, the Power Rangers fight an epic battle to save the galaxy from destruction!
In the latest new episodes of Power Rangers Ninja Steel, to defeat Galvanax's evil new contestants, the rangers will need new ninja powers, and mighty new Megazords!
Power Rangers Ninja Steel is based on Shuriken Sentai Ninninger, Toei's 39th ninja-themed Super Sentai special effects series in Japan.

Joe Murray and Craig Bartlett Give The Inside Scoop on The "Rocko's Modern Life" and "Hey Arnold!" Revivals
At a time in Hollywood when old intellectual property is constantly being repackaged as the next hot new fall show, or networks drum up half-hearted nostalgia by giving past-their-prime sitcoms a victory lap, Nickelodeon is in the unique position of having fans actively campaign to revive their favorite cartoons from the late ‘90s and early ‘00s.
This fall, Hey Arnold! returns to Nickelodeon for a feature-length TV special called Hey Arnold: The Jungle Movie. The movie is part of Nickelodeon's slate of revivals, which kicked off last year with revivals of Legends of the Hidden Temple - as a television movie - and Double Dare, and also includes new Rocko’s Modern Life and Invader Zim specials, which are set to air in 2018. The executives at Nickelodeon rang up the creators of these beloved cartoons seemingly out of the blue. They saw interest from outside — Nickelodeon has had a successful run with its ‘90s programming block called NickSplat (formally “The Splat” — and from within.
“I think one of the big factors is the fans grew up and became part of the professional workforce, part of the media, social media, and animation,” Hey Arnold! creator Craig Bartlett told Den of Geek about the roots of the Nicktoon revivals. “A third of Nickelodeon’s employees were of that age—25 to 30—and fans of the show. They had a town hall meeting and asked what the employees thought Nick should be doing. And a lot of them said, ‘Why don't you bring back Hey Arnold!?’”
Bartlett didn’t need much convincing. He originally planned a second Hey Arnold! film that would answer the questions of the 2004 series finale, but Nickelodeon decided to cancel the series and leave Arnold’s story on a cliffhanger. “I felt really bad for a long time,” Bartlett recalls. “I made this cliffhanger and broke the hearts of children everywhere. It wasn't intentional. That's the ups and downs of showbiz.”
In the emotional finale, “The Journal,” Arnold learns more about his long-lost parents when he stumbles upon his father’s old journal and finds a map that could lead to their whereabouts. Hey Arnold: The Jungle Movie will finally give Arnold the chance to go on the adventure of a lifetime and search for his parents.
Stylistically, Arnold is getting a light refresh (don’t worry, he still has that football-shaped head), but they shied away from a complete reboot. “It's not only supposed to be this satisfying conclusion to Arnold's questions of where his parents are, but it's also supposed to reintroduce all these characters to the next generation,” Bartlett says.
Nickelodeon is taking a similar approach with Rocko’s Modern Life, hoping to bridge the gap from old fans to the network’s youthful core audience.
Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling will be a meta take on Hollywood’s wave of nostalgia projects, bringing Rocko, Filburt, Heffer, and Spunky into 2018. Joe Murray, the creator of Rocko’s Modern Life, felt satisfied enough with the show’s original four seasons to blast his main characters off into space in the series finale.
Rocko, the anthropomorphic wallaby who taught us Garbage Day and Laundry Day are both “very dangerous” days, is going to land on Earth 22 years after we last saw him. Plenty has changed since. Rocko is slow to adapt to technology and believes nostalgia can save him from the cruel modern world while Filburt and Heffer are quick to embrace the joys of the internet age. The transition should be smooth for a series that was way ahead of its time. “Conglom-O Corporation” is basically just Amazon at this point.
Rocko’s Modern Life got a second wind from "NickSplat", and Murray says he has noticed a renewed activity in recent years, from merchandising opportunities to a big uptick in interest on social media. But even he was caught off guard when Nickelodeon was circling Rocko as its next classic Nicktoon special.
“I was one of the most surprised of anybody,” Murray says as he takes a long pause before filling the silence with a loud chuckle.
For the project to work, Murray brought back the entire original voice cast and aimed to keep it as close to the original as possible, which like its predecessor Ren and Stimpy, appealed to all ages.
“Even in the ‘90s, we were always keeping in mind that it was a younger audience, but that it would appeal to different age groups,” Murray remembers. “There’s a kid issue involved in the main storyline and there’s lots of great visual animation. It serves all the audiences.”
Nostalgia may be at the heart of the Nicktoon revival, but for Bartlett it’s just as much about unfinished business. For Murray, he has something to say about our current times and believes he can do it in a way that is true to the tone of the original run.
Both Bartlett and Murray took a break from production to speak with Den of Geek about the upcoming revivals, and what the future could hold for their beloved Nicktoons.
Craig Bartlett - Creator of Hey Arnold!
DEN OF GEEK: Were you always looking to bring Hey Arnold! back? How did we end up with a new feature-length movie?
CRAIG BARTLETT: Fifteen years ago this summer, we had just put out The Hey Arnold! Movie. We had already been developing another one, which we always called “The Jungle Movie,” and they're like, “Well, we're not going to do it. This is kind of one and done for the feature.”
The problem was we made our last regular episode a one-hour special called “The Journal,” which was meant to be a prequel to “The Jungle Movie.” Arnold finds his dad's old journal and learns a lot about his missing parents in the back at the very end. He opens the last page, it was kind of stuck together, and he finds this map. And it's like, “Grandma, Grandpa, I found the map!” Dun dun dun dun, big cliffhanger music and out. And so, I had originally done that on purpose to dare Nick Movies to not make The Jungle Movie. But the show still got cancelled. It's just the way it goes. That's the ups and downs of showbiz.
It really did seem like an idea whose time came, because the fans grew up and were in the most powerful position to influence the culture. You know? So that's a really cool story. I love that story.
The film will be closure for the old fans. But it also needs to introduce the cartoon for a new generation. How did you approach that?
We always talk about our actual audience, the kids. It's not only supposed to be this satisfying conclusion to Arnold's questions of where his parents are, but it's also supposed to reintroduce all these characters to the next generation. And I tried to make it end in a way where it was set up that they were going to go into sixth grade. Wouldn't that be cool if it got rebooted, and we could do a season 6 where they're now two years older and they're going into sixth grade? So I tried to do all those things; answer all the questions; and set it up so they could go on.
I think to kids now and 20 years ago, and 20 years from now, they love stories about friendship. And so Arnold's best friendship with Gerald, and Helga's best friendship with Phoebe, are really featured in the movie and then dramatized as much as I could, because kids love stories about friends going on an adventure.
On the creative side, you’ve talked about how fans of the show have grown up and now work for Nickelodeon. Did you look to mix up the creative team with old and new talent?
That was a big part of the discussion. We said we had acknowledged the fact that kids have grown up and become adults, super fans, and many were working in the biz. So Nickelodeon said, “We think that's a good story. We think a really cool part of this narrative is that the fans have grown up and now they're cartoon makers. It would be really cool if they work on the show.” And so it was a negotiation between me and Nickelodeon to add the next generation to the crew. It's a really cool mix of old school Hey Arnold! people who made the show in the first place, and new school Hey Arnold! super fans who were really into it.
Joe Murray - Creator of Rocko’s Modern Life
DEN OF GEEK: Rocko’s Modern Life has to be one of the most underrated Nicktoons of all time. How did a revival happen?
JOE MURRAY: When I first heard about it, I thought “maybe it’s not a good idea.” I felt like we had done a really good job with the seasons that we did. Why mess with it? I said I had to think about it for awhile. It was too abrupt for me to wrap my head around. We were optimistic we could do something and we started kicking around some ideas of how Rocko would be in current times.
Did they come to you with the idea to do this revival as a movie?
The only choices they gave me were doing a long-form project or some shorts. I opted for the long-form project, an hour movie. I thought we could tell a good story and expand what we did before. In the last episode of Rocko, we blasted him off to into space. I thought it would be perfect if we had him come back and land 20 years later.
A long-form piece is a different animal than completing 13 individual episodes. How did you approach it narratively?
It didn’t seem like such a stretch because we were used to telling three-act stories. We just expanded it. I came up with the story that was really relevant to what is going on now. There’s a twist in there [that] will be a surprise when it comes out. There wasn’t really anything they had discussed with me as far as what they wanted to do. They wanted to know if I wanted to refresh the series and the characters. I actually wanted it to be as close to the original as possible.
When we approached the production, we did all the backgrounds the same way, hand-painted. We pulled recurring characters from the old series. It’s pretty close to what it was. It’s the ‘90s show being brought back in 2018. How modern life is now and how the characters would have evolved.
With social media, do you think younger audiences are more mature now than during the original run?
We did all the gags with social media and technology. That was fair game. And of course Rocko is still used to VCRs and he suddenly comes into the 21st century, and it’s all new to him. It’s fun to see someone experiencing all this new technology. Filburt and Heffer embrace it, and Rocko is averse to change. That’s really how the story evolves. It’s all about change.
But also what I found, and maybe this is why the show was gaining popularity over the years, was that we did a lot of weird stuff. We had characters that were really demented. Some of the audience didn’t really catch on to it. It was a little strange to them. Over the years, things have gotten a little weird. Not only in kids entertainment but look at the TV shows kids are watching these days. They really don’t have to make sense, and they’d probably rather it didn’t. I’m feeling like a lot of our non-sequitur weird stuff is pretty much the norm now. We really poured it on. It’s more accepted these days than when we first came out.
So many animated series have taken big risks since, but Rocko, along with Ren and Stimpy, felt like the beginning of that visually and tonally.
It was good that we had Ren and Stimpy pave the way. I think Nickelodeon was more open to doing the weird stuff we wanted to do. We started developing the show right around the time Ren and Stimpy came out. We had just done the pilot for Rocko. I saw that it was on there and what they were doing, and I felt optimistic we could get away with the stuff we wanted to. I came into it thinking I don’t really care if they say no to it. They came to me and said, “Do your independent film work and put it on television.” It was nice that Nickelodeon was open to the risk, because Ren and Stimpy and Rocko didn’t look anything like what was out there. I give a lot of credit to that.

Follow NickALive! on Twitter, Tumblr, Google+, via RSS, on Instagram, and/or Facebook for the latest Nickelodeon, Hey Arnold!: The Jungle Movie and Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling News and Highlights!
