IDW to Create Avatar: The Legend of Korra Board Game



San Diego, CA (June 22, 2017) IDW Games announced today that, in its continued relationship with Nickelodeon, it will release tabletop games based on The Legend of Korra television series, the sequel to Avatar: The Last Airbender. The first game planned for release is The Legend of Korra: Pro-bending Arena.

Designed by Sen-Foong Lim (Akrotiri, The Godfather: A New Don) and Jessey Wright (Pocket Adventure), The Legend of Korra: Pro-bending Arena aims to capture the excitement of the pro-bending sport found in season one of the show.Focusing on the rivalry between the Future Industries Fire Ferrets and The White Falls Wolfbats, The Legend of Korra: Pro-bending Arena has two players each take control of a team, draft card decks for their benders, and then play cards to place elemental tokens around the board in an effort to overwhelm their opponent. As in the show, pro-bending matches are a game of push and pull, with the objective to be the team that has either advanced the farthest forward, or completely knock their competitors out of the ring.

Nickelodeon Africa Removes "The Loud House", "The Legend Of Korra" & "Hey Arnold!" From Schedules Due To Homosexuality Controversy

Following the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) "banning" several children's television shows, including Nickelodeon's The Loud House, The Legend of Korra and Hey Arnold!, as the organisation, and sadly I'm not making this up, has ridiculously ruled that the shows "promote homosexuality", Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Africa has announced that they are unfortunately suspending broadcasts of all three shows from Nickelodeon and Nicktoons' schedules.


Below is Multichoice's, a leading telecommunications company in Africa, full statement regarding the homosexuality controversy issue, via Ghana News:

CHILDREN’S TV PROGRAMMES ON NICKELODEON, NICKTOONS AND CARTOON NETWORK

Multichoice takes pride in ensuring that we comply with the law in all Jurisdictions that we operate in and are mindful that culture is the foundation of the nation as family values underpin the society.

In tandem with our internal quality control measures, we also ensure all third party suppliers are adequately briefed on country specific regulatory requirements and provisions. MultiChoice has therefore contacted the Channel Suppliers on the various recent complaints made against the Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and Nicktoons channels with regards to their programming and wish to clarify as below:
Turner with regards to the Cartoon Network channel:

“With respect to the issues raised by customers, we ensure our channels and programming are suitable for children and do not contain the content and messages unsuitable. In Africa, as in all markets, we always seek to be respectful of local laws, cultures and sensitivities and, in some instances, this means we do show amended versions of US original series. We constantly review feedback from our audiences to ensure that this is the case and this is a responsibility that we take extremely seriously.”

Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Africa response on Nickelodeon and Nicktoons channels:
“We acknowledge the concerns expressed by customers. While we explore a variety of options, we will suspend the shows in question in Africa. Although, Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Africa and Nickelodeon Africa are committed to diversity and inclusiveness, VIMN also respects the varied cultures and regulatory codes of the markets in which we operate.”

The homosexuality-in-children's-programming controversy in Africa is sadly nothing new. Last year, Nickelodeon Africa had to censor The Loud House episode “Overnight Success”, in which Lincoln’s best friend Clyde is dropped off for a sleepover by his two dads, Harold and Howard McBride, due to the same issues. Although the episode didn't air on television, Nickelodeon made the episode available to watch online on nickelodeonafrica.com and on the South Africa-based DStv Catch Up.

Dora The Explorer To Be First Nickelodeon Star To Be Crowned Godmother Of A Cruise Ship, P&O’s Pacific Explorer

One of the world’s most loved adventurers, Dora the Explorer, is exploring new territory as the first Nickelodeon character to be crowned Godmother of a cruise ship, P&O's Pacific Explorer!

Pacific Explorer is set to have the ‘slime of her life’ when Dora christens the ship at a naming ceremony at Sydney’s Overseas Passenger Terminal on Sunday July 2.

The popular preschool character will be joined by her closest Nickelodeon friends including SpongeBob SquarePants, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Skye from PAW Patrol at a Welcome Party to celebrate the fifth ship in P&O Cruises Australia’s fleet.

Fans can win tickets to the celebration with Dora the Explorer and friends and be the first to experience Pacific Explorer’s exciting new features.

Pacific Explorer is fitted a range of new activities including the longest and wildest waterslides at sea, an interactive water park, P&OEdge Adventure Park – with activities such as zip lining and rock climbing, an outdoor Big Screen, and barefoot lawn bowls.

The special is written and executive produced by the series’ original creator Joe Murray and will premiere on Nickelodeon in 2018.

The voice actors reprising their famed roles include: Carlos Alazraqui (The Fairly OddParents) as Rocko, Spunky, and Leon; Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants) as Heffer Wolfe, Chuck, and Really Really Big Man; Mr. Lawrence (SpongeBob SquarePants) as Filburt Turtle and Maitre D’; Charlie Adler (Blaze and the Monster Machines) as Ed Bighead, Bev Bighead, Mr. Dupette, Grandpa Wolfe, and Mrs. Fathead; Linda Wallem (Nurse Jackie, executive producer) as Aunt Gretchen and Dr. Hutchinson; Jill Talley (SpongeBob SquarePants) as Nosey and Joe Murray as Ralph. Just like the original ‘90s series, this hand-drawn special stars Rocko, a wallaby who emigrated from Australia to the United States and enjoys the simple things in life; Heffer, Rocko’s best friend; Filburt, Rocko’s other best friend; and Ed Bighead and Bev Bighead, Rocko’s neighbors; as well as the other colorful characters.

Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling brings the characters back to Earth after being lost in outer space since 1996. Program to include Co-Branded Video Featuring TV Land's The Texting Yoga Pants and PAW Patrol Pups


SAN ANTONIO, June 21, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- This summer, Visionworks is embarking on a multi-faceted partnership with Viacom's Nickelodeon and TV Land brands on a nationwide program that features characters from TV's top preschool series, PAW Patrol, and TV Land social influencers, The Texting Yoga Pants moms. Through September 3, the promotion aims to encourage parents to make an eye exam part of their back-to-school checklist.

At participating locations, Visionworks is offering children who have completed their annual eye exam a free gift, which includes a PAW Patrol activity sheet, crayons, stickers and a character mask, while supplies last. In addition, the eyewear retailer is unveiling its first-ever kids' line of PAW Patrol frames designed and distributed by Nouveau Eyewear exclusively for back-to-school '17, available online and at participating retail locations nationwide, beginning this July.

First Look at Nickelodeon's "Welcome To The Wayne" Opening Theme Song

Nickelodeon will bid viewers Welcome to the Wayne when the networks brand-new animated mystery series debuts Monday, July 24, at 5:30p.m. (ET/PT) on Nick USA. Ahead of the big debut of Emmy-winning writer and composer Billy Lopez’s original toon, Animation Magazine has unveiled a fantastic first look at the show’s theme song, which reveals just how wonky the Wayne can be!


The theme song features lyrics penned by Lopez, and is composed and performed by That Dog frontwoman Anna Waronker and former Go-Gos guitarist Charlotte Caffey.
