Viacom Promotes Marcus Lee As General Counsel For Viacom International Media Networks

Marcus Lee, previously General Counsel (GC) of Channel 5, has been promoted to GC for UK, Northern and Eastern Europe for Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN). Both Channel 5 and VIMN are part of the media conglomerate Viacom.


Lee, who trained at legacy Charles Russell between 2000 and 2002, has spent nearly seven years at Channel 5 after a number of in-house roles at various media companies. Prior to Channel 5, Lee worked as a legal director at Portland Media Group, as well as an adviser at Express Newspapers and Paramount Home Entertainment, and as a Legal Assistant at Showtime.

Lee, who was recognised in Legal Business' GC Powerlist in both 2013 and 2016, was previously responsible for the legal affairs of VIMN's subsidiary, Channel 5, but in his new role Lee will oversee legal affairs across 33 European countries. Lee will report to VIMN general counsel Caryn Groce and Chief Operating Officer (COO) Paul Dunthorne. US-based Groce took the top job last month after the departure of former legal boss Michael Fricklas.

As part of a restructure, Channel 5 and VIMN will merge legal teams, meaning Lee will have responsibility for the legal affairs for all of VIMN's networks, including Nickelodeon, MTV and Comedy Central.

The new department will have overall responsibility for all legal and regulatory matters for Viacom’s branded networks in the UK, Northern and Eastern Europe.

Combining our business and legal affairs teams under his management will ensure we keep ahead of the changing commercial and contractual demands of and on our business at a time of rapid change and increasing complexity in our sector."

Nickelodeon Announces Winners Of The 2017 Nickelodeon Indonesia Kids' Choice Awards

Nickelodeon Indonesia has announced the winners of the 2017 Nickelodeon Indonesia Kids' Choice Awards, Nickelodeon's Indonesia's 10th annual local version of the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards!


Kids and families across Indonesia voted for their favourites from the world of entertainment in six categories via SMS (IKCA KODE PILIHAN 9515) on the the official Indonesia Kids' Choice Awards 2017 website, globaltv.co.id/ikca2017, between Monday 17th April and Tuesday 16th May 2017.

Nickelodeon announced the winners of Nickelodeon's coveted orange blimps at a star and slime-studded ceremony hosted by Conchita Caroline and John Martin, which was broadcast live from Studio 3 MNCTV, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah in East Jakarta on the Indonesian television station GlobalTV, who also produces Nickelodeon's Indonesian Kids' Choice Awards, on Wednesday 17th May 2017.

The live event also included spectacular performances from best-selling artists, including Indonesian singers Agnesmo, GAC, Rendy Pandugo, JAZ, WIZZY, Cita Citata, Christo TVKI, Jane TVKI, Raffi TVKI, Boy William and GRLBND, with a special appearance by Agnes Monica (Agnez Mo). The theme of this years IKCA was Welcome To The Slime Island, and it didn't disappoint!

Mondo Secures U.S. & Canada L&M Agent For "Heidi, Bienvenida a Casa"

Surge Licensing is on board to help expand the teen series throughout North America!

Mondo TV Iberoamerica has appointed Surge Licensing to represent licensing and merchandising for the hit live-action teen series Heidi, Bienvenida a Casa in the U.S. and Canada.


Under the terms of the agreement, Surge will now support the series in both territories through a variety of licensing and merchandising opportunities.

The partnership with Surge also represents the consolidation of the strong network of agents that will represent the property's expansion to the North American market, according to Mondo TV.


Inspired by the classic 1880 novel Heidi by Johanna Spyri, which tells the tale of a young girl full of charm who leaves her mountain home for the city, the series reinterprets the classic children's story, combining comedy, humor and music with modern day twists. The 60×45-minute series was written by Marcela Citterio and is co-produced with Alianzas Producciones. Heidi, Bienvenida a Casa launched on Nickelodeon Latinoamérica and Nickelodeon Brasil on Monday 13th March 2017, and will debut in the rest of the world between the end of this year and the beginning of 2018.

Heidi, Bienvenida a Casa stars young Argentine actress Chiara Francia (Patito feo, Consentidos, Chica vampiro), the daughter of the shows producer Javier Francia, Mercedes Lambre (Violetta), Florencia Benítez (Violetta, Sueña conmigo), Victorio D’Alessandro (Casi ángeles), and Minerva Casero (Esperanza mía), as well as many more outstanding actors and actresses.

Ahead of the series premiere in March 2017, Heidi, Bienvenida a Casa was renewed for two additional seasons, tentatively titled Heidi, bienvenida to show and Heidi, bienvendia a la fama.

Nickelodeon Latin America And Telefe Partner For New Music Series "Kally's MashUp"

Nickelodeon Latinoamérica (Latin America) and Telefe have inked a co-production pact with Glee executive music producer Adam Anders and Daniel Gutman's 360 Powwow for the brand-new music series Kally's MashUp!


Created by Anders and Anthony Falcon, Kally's MashUp is inspired by Anders’ own life as it follows Kally, a 13-year-old music prodigy who tries to balance her life as a piano virtuoso with that of a regular teenager, after moving from a small town to the most prominent music university in the country.

Comprised of 60 hour-long episodes, the music series will feature original songs composed by Anders' wife, Nikki Anders, and his longtime collaborator, Peer Astrom. Anders will serve as executive producer for the show and oversee its score.

“I was given the opportunity to study music at the University of South Florida in Tampa when I was 13 years old,” said the Swedish-born Anders. “Walking the halls with all the big kids and adults was both exciting and really scary, but I had a fantastic teacher, Professor Neuenschwander, who really instilled the confidence in me that I belonged, even though I was so young and from another country. … Those experiences helped shape the storyline and creation of ‘Kally’s MashUp,’ and I hope that many kids will be able to relate to those feelings no matter what their interests are.”

“Collaborating on this project with musical wiz Adam Anders and 360 Powwow is a true treat for Nickelodeon Latin America,” said Tatiana Rodriguez, Senior Vice President (SVP) and Brand Head of Kids and Family Programming at Nickelodeon Latin America.

Produced by 360 Powwow and Anders Media Inc, Kally’s MashUp will start filming in August at Buenos Aires-based Telefe Studios, which was acquired by Viacom International Media Networks in November last year.

The series will debut pan-regionally on Nickelodeon Latinoamérica and later on Telefe, Argentina's leading network, which will also have exclusive distribution rights for the series in Latin America.

Kally’s MashUp joins Nickelodeon Latin America's other hit scripted formats, including Yo Soy Franky, which is being remade for Nickelodeon USA (I Am Frankie); Grachi, which was also adapted to English (Every Witch Way) for Nickelodeon U.S.; Isa TK+; Isa TKM; and Suena Conmigo, among others. In addition, the pan-regional network has two other original series in production, including Vikki RPM, set to bow later this year.

Nickelodeon USA To Premiere "JoJo Siwa: My World" On Saturday 12th August 2017

JoJo Siwa is set to appear in the brand-new 30-minute special, JoJo Siwa: My World, premiering Saturday 12th August 2017 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Nickelodeon USA, PEOPLE has revealed!

The special, which is currently in production, follows the 13-year-old’s dance journey leading up to her biggest moment yet — performing at the Mall of America.

On June 3, Siwa will take the stage in Bloomington, Minnesota, to tape her special and perform her hit, “Boomerang,” along with her newest songs, “Hold the Drama” and "Kid in a Candy Store," for her fans.

Since discovering her love for dance as a toddler, Siwa has gone on to hit some major milestones in her budding career, including becoming the youngest contestant to appear on Abby's Ultimate Dance Competition at just 8 years old, and also starring in Dance Moms.

Now, Siwa has garnered an incredible social media following with over 5.5 million Instagram followers, 10 million followers on Musical.ly and almost 271,000 Twitter followers.

Not to mention Siwa's YouTube channel has over 526 million views thanks to her SIWANATOR club — which stands against negativity and bullying — her line of consumer products and her song, “Boomerang,” which has been viewed over 246 million times.

JoJo Siwa: My World premieres Saturday, August 12 at 8 p.m. ET on Nick USA.
