Your Favorite Nickelodeon Stars Dish What It's Like Being Directed By "iCarly" Alum Nathan Kress
If you're a longtime Nickelodeon fan, you obviously know Nathan Kress for his roles starring on iCarly and even his appearances on past series like Sam & Cat, Victorious, and True Jackson, VP.
But did you know that Nathan has been working behind-the-scenes of your favorite current Nick shows (just like Freddie) like Henry Danger and Game Shakers for a few years now? That's right: to date, he's directed five Henry Danger episodes and two more for Game Shakers, and even filmed a guest-starring spot for a upcoming episode, in which he'll answer a big question: Which girl did iCarly character Freddie really like more, Carly or Sam!
In fact, he directed tomorrow night's episode of Game Shakers! To celebrate, Twist asked some of your favorite Nickelodeon actors what it's really like having Nathan on set as their director. They all gave him glowing reviews, of course.

To celebrate Nicktoons’ NickSports TV block starting to premiere Little Ballers Indiana, a brand-new three-part docu-series from WNBA All Star Skylar Diggins showcasing the triumphant story of six dynamic and diverse young female basketball players, from tonight, Friday, March 3, at 9 p.m., Essence has unveiled a super first-look at the series, which you can watch here on Essence.com!
Skylar Diggins has got game on and off the court. The current point guard for the Dallas Wings, and five-time USA Basketball gold medalist, two-time WNBA All Star starter, and a four-time college All-American, has branched out into television production.
In Little Ballers Indiana, a half-hour limited series, fans meet six diverse 11 and 12-year-old girls on Sky Diggs Ballers, Diggins’ Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) team. Set against the backdrop of Diggins’ hometown of South Bend, Indiana, the series charts the journeys of these young phenoms, who have a deep passion for the game. Coached by Diggins’ stepdad, Moe Scott, the Sky Diggins Ballers open a window on the challenges and opportunities facing girls today. And the real-life basketball moments are intense.
Little Ballers Indiana is executive produced by Diggins and the team behind the NAACP Image Award-nominated Little Ballers: Crystal McCrary, Lupe Fiasco, and Amar’e Stoudemire. McCrary also serves as director.
“One of my goals in making Little Ballers was to show the strength and complexity of Black families,” says McCrary. “It was also important to be a champion for our girls, to celebrate their strength, their differences, their brilliance - Strong girls, unapologetic girls, conscientious girls, hearing impaired girls, girls with Vitiligo, girls who don't back down, black young girls who love their hair, their skin, their bodies, their fathers, their mothers, their families, and their communities.”
Little Ballers Indiana also features interviews with current and former WNBA players Diggins, Lisa Leslie, Tamika Catchings, Elena Delle Donne, Candice Wiggins, Niele Ivey and Chamique Holdsclaw.

London, 3rd March, 2017 - Nickelodeon International has teamed up with seven internationally-loved content creators to form the first official global KCA Social Squad. The squad will transport fans into all of the exclusive, on-the-ground and backstage excitement at the 2017 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. This year’s show will air on Sunday, 12th March at 10:00am on Nickelodeon.
Beginning on Thursday, 9th March the KCA Social Squad, including Saffron Barker (@saffronbarker, UK), digital-famous newlyweds Gabriel Conte (@gabrielconte, USA) and Jess Conte (@jessconte, Australia), Mario Bautista (@mariobautistagil, Mexico), Alex Mapeli (@alexmapeli, Brazil), KCA Favourite German Video Blogger nominee Dagi Bee (@dagibee, Germany) and KCA Favourite Danish Music Artist nominee Benjamin Lasnier (@benjaminlasnier, Denmark) will provide an exclusive look inside the official pre-KCAs Nickelodeon International Slime Soiree, Orange Carpet excitement and behind-the-scenes activity leading up to the big night on Saturday.
Collectively, the KCA Social Squad will bring a cross-platform following of more than 45 million fans inside their exclusive 2017 KCA experience. PAW Patrol Live! “Race to the Rescue,” shows that “No job is too big, no pup is too small!” and shares lessons for all ages about citizenship, social skills and problem solving as the characters each use their unique skills and teamwork. When Mayor Goodway goes missing during the day of the Great Adventure Bay Race, the pups must come to the rescue. Families can join Ryder, Chase, Marshall, Rocky, Rubble, Zuma, Skye and Everest for the show’s first tour in New Zealand. Running at 80 minutes, PAW Patrol Live! “Race to the Rescue” includes two acts and an intermission. The show is set to engage audiences with Bunraku puppetry, an innovative costuming approach that brings the PAW Patrol characters to life on stage with their vehicles and packs.
“Using Bunraku, puppetry elements are built into costumes worn by real actors to create a wonderful combination of life-size pups and to make a stronger connection with the audience. The PAW Patrol cast sings and dances, which brings a fun, realistic parallel between the animated series and the live show,” says Jim Waters, producer, VStar Entertainment Group.
The performance up-tempo features music, dance and a brand new cleverly written script that is a good introduction to live theatre for kids and an original script as well as classic theatrical scenery along with a high-tech video wall that visually transports families to an authentic PAW Patrol environment, including locations from the TV series such as Adventure Bay, The Lookout, Seal Island, Farmer Yumi's Farm and Jake's Mountain. NEW YORK–March 2, 2017–Nickelodeon, the number-one kids’ network, today announced it has signed 13-year-old singer, dancer, performer and social media influencer JoJo Siwa to an overall talent deal. Under the arrangement, Nickelodeon will have the opportunity to work with Siwa on a multi-platform basis including in consumer products, original programming, social media, live events and music. Nickelodeon has already commenced development of an exclusive line of consumer products inspired by the popular teen, and the network is in the process of securing major merchandising and promotional partners in a broad range of categories including apparel, home furnishings, toys, accessories, publishing and more. The news was announced at Nickelodeon’s Upfront presentation, held today in New York City.

The half-hour, 10-episode series will feature real-life kids lip-syncing pop songs in celebration of their favorite artists and builds upon the success of Nick’s hour-long special of the same name, which premiered in December 2016 and posted double- and triple-digit gains with kids. Lip Sync Battle Shorties will begin production later this year and the series is set to premiere in the fall. NEW YORK–March 2, 2017—Nickelodeon, the number-one kids’ network, has greenlit The Adventures of Kid Danger and Captain Man (working title), a brand-new animated series based on characters from TV’s number-one kids’ series, Henry Danger. Created and executive produced by hitmaker Dan Schneider (Henry Danger, Game Shakers, iCarly), the half-hour series has been picked up for an initial order of 10 episodes and follows the heroic Kid Danger and Captain Man as they face new adventures—battling bizarre criminals and super villains with their sharp wit and amazing crime-fighting skills. The news was announced at Nickelodeon’s Upfront presentation, held today in New York City.
“We are giving the characters that kids love, the opportunity to play in fresh new ways,” said Cyma Zarghami, President, Nickelodeon Group. “Animating Dan Schneider’s incredible Henry Danger, while keeping the voices of the current series, signals to the audience that we are working hard to serve them on all platforms.”
The Adventures of Kid Danger and Captain Man first found life as a Nickelodeon short-form digital series, also created by Schneider, which has been viewed more than 30 million times worldwide across multiple platforms. While the live-action hit focuses on Henry balancing the challenges of being a teenager with his adventures as a crime fighter, this new full-length animated series centers on his exploits as Kid Danger, as he embarks on brave new missions with Captain Man to battle monsters, aliens and more. The Adventures of Kid Danger and Captain Man is produced by Powerhouse Animation, which also produced the short-form series.
The live-action Henry Danger, which was 2016’s number-one kids’ show on all TV, was renewed last year for a fourth season (20 episodes). New season three episodes will continue to air Saturdays at 8 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon.
The original Henry Danger live-action cast will continue their roles, now as voice talent, on the new animated show: Jace Norman as “Henry Hart/Kid Danger;” Cooper Barnes as “Ray/Captain Man;” Riele Downs as “Charlotte;” Sean Ryan Fox as “Jasper;” Ella Anderson as “Piper Hart;” Michael D. Cohen as “Schwoz;” and Jeffrey Nicholas Brown as “Mr. Hart.”
In the new animated series, brand-new areas of the superheroes’ headquarters will be seen by fans for the very first time, including the Man Cave tube system, which propels the crime fighters into adventure; and the Man Cave garage, filled with crime-fighting vehicles and gadgets used on missions. Along with appearances of fan-favorite characters from the live-action show, new friends and foes will also be introduced.
Nickelodeon year to date is the number-one kids’ network, with the top shows on all TV in every key demo–the top 10 among Kids 2-11; nine of the top 10 with Kids 6-11; and six of the top 10 shows for Kids 2-5. Nick recently marked its third straight year at number one with kids, outpacing the competition most recently in 2016 by double digits. Nickelodeon also had the top shows in every demo in 2016: nine out of the top 10 with Kids 2-11; six of the top 10 with Kids 6-11; and six of the top 10 preschool programs.
Writer-producer Dan Schneider has established himself as a prolific and creative force in the world of family entertainment. Under his Schneider’s Bakery Productions, he has carved a unique, progressive niche in the world of kid and family entertainment as creator and executive producer of mega-hit series like the landmark iCarly, Sam & Cat, Victorious and Zoey 101, which have received multiple Emmy nominations. Schneider also created and executive produced Drake & Josh. His series all have the distinction of having won numerous Kids’ Choice Awards, Emmy Awards and Teen Choice Awards nominations, and he recently received the first-ever Kids’ Choice Lifetime Achievement Award.

NEW YORK–March 2, 2017—Nickelodeon, the number-one kids’ network, has greenlit The Adventures of Kid Danger and Captain Man (working title), a brand-new animated series based on characters from TV’s number-one kids’ series, Henry Danger. Created and executive produced by hitmaker Dan Schneider (Henry Danger, Game Shakers, iCarly), the half-hour series has been picked up for an initial order of 10 episodes and follows the heroic Kid Danger and Captain Man as they face new adventures—battling bizarre criminals and super villains with their sharp wit and amazing crime-fighting skills. The news was announced at Nickelodeon’s Upfront presentation, held today in New York City.
“We are giving the characters that kids love, the opportunity to play in fresh new ways,” said Cyma Zarghami, President, Nickelodeon Group. “Animating Dan Schneider’s incredible Henry Danger, while keeping the voices of the current series, signals to the audience that we are working hard to serve them on all platforms.”
The Adventures of Kid Danger and Captain Man first found life as a Nickelodeon short-form digital series, also created by Schneider, which has been viewed more than 30 million times worldwide across multiple platforms. While the live-action hit focuses on Henry balancing the challenges of being a teenager with his adventures as a crime fighter, this new full-length animated series centers on his exploits as Kid Danger, as he embarks on brave new missions with Captain Man to battle monsters, aliens and more. The Adventures of Kid Danger and Captain Man is produced by Powerhouse Animation, which also produced the short-form series.
