Basking Ridge, NJ Actress Lands Role In New Nickelodeon Preschool Series "Nella The Princess Knight"
When a new animated preschool series debuts on Nickelodeon USA next week, one voice might be familiar to some local viewers in Bernards Township, New Jersey!
Samantha Hahn, an 18-year-old aspiring actress who grew up in The Hills development, will be the voice of Trinket in Nickelodeon's Nella the Princess Knight, premiering Monday, Feb. 6, at 10 a.m. (ET/PT).
Nella is a princess who transforms into a knight. She goes on fantastical adventures with her friends, Sir Garret, Trinket and Clod, to fight for what’s right.
Trinket is Nella’s unicorn and best friend, and is by her side for all her adventures.
Hahn auditioned in New York about a year ago for several of the show’s parts. She was called to back to do Trinket, “which was the part I was very passionate about,” she told Bernardsville News.
“I actually screamed when I heard I got it,” said Hahn, who sounds younger than her years. “I was so excited.”
Hahn has been acting since childhood. The daughter of Paul and Judy Hahn, she trained at Annie’s Playhouse School of the Performing Arts in Far Hills, and in late 2015 made her professional debut originating the role of Marigold in Nancy Holson’s Nutcracker! The Musical.
Academically, she received her high school degree last year from Fusion Academy Morristown and is now a freshman majoring in musical theater at Manhattan School of Music.
Her pursuit of voice-over roles was almost by happenstance. “A lot of people said I should get into it because my voice is very unique,” Hahn said.
Voice-overs are a form of acting, and “it’s really fun,” she added. “The emotions and the energy really comes out with that.”
Trinket’s character was appealing because “she is a loyal friend and bubbly and fun,” she said.
Hahn is also a published author. Last year, she wrote and illustrated a children’s book, Goofsville, which features seven stories about a town that is built upside down. The book is sold at The Bookworm in Bernardsville and is carried at the Clarence Dillon Public Library in Bedminster Township.
“I’ve always loved Dr. Seuss-type things, and I got the idea for an upside down town,” Hahn said. “It’s cool to see all of my work put together.”
“I would love to write more,” she said, but “acting is my passion. I love musical theater performing, and I want to be on Broadway someday.”

Somerville, MA, Jan. 31, 2017 – Ride, a hit TV series in the U.K. and Canada that debuted on Nickelodeon in the United States on Monday 30th January 2017, has inked a publishing deal with Candlewick Entertainment!
Candlewick Entertainment, an imprint of Candlewick Press, has acquired world rights in all languages to a series of books for young readers based on Ride the TV series, which is currently airing daily on Nickelodeon USA at 8:00 p.m. (ET/PT). The books were acquired by Joan Powers, group editorial director for Candlewick Entertainment and Walker Entertainment, from Breakthrough Entertainment. The book series will launch in September 2017 with Ride: Kit Meets Covington. Two additional titles will follow in spring 2018.
This new chapter for Ride builds on the success of the TV series, which follows the journey of Kit Bridges (Kendra Leigh Timmins), an American teenager who must adjust to life in England at The Covington Academy, after her father accepts his dream job as the equestrian supervisor at the school. The series first launched in Canada on September 5, 2016, on YTV and in the U.K. on November 7, 2016, on Nickelodeon, and has since launched on Nickelodeon channels worldwide.

Viacom Moves CMT And TV Land To Global Entertainment Group
Viacom has announced that it is moving CMT (formerly Country Music Television) and TV Land to its Global Entertainment Group, placing management responsibilities of the two networks under Kevin Kay, who will continue to run Spike.
Viacom formed the GEG last year and houses Viacom’s International Media Networks (VIMN) and its Music and Entertainment Group, which includes MTV, Comedy Central, Spike, VH1 and Logo.
Being housed under the new unit “will strengthen these brands even further and will allow GEG to connect more deeply with our adult audience — which is well over 180 million viewers across Viacom brands globally,” Viacom CEO Bob Bakish said in a memo to employees.
CMT and TV Land were formerly part of the Kids & Family Group headed by Cyma Zarghami, where Bakish says Zarghami helped to lead them “to the highs they are hitting today.”
He added that he now wants her “considerable focus and drive … centered on our important kids audience” in order to “keep Nickelodeon expanding its brand and business more than ever.”
Kay followed with a memo of his own, saying: “The foundation for success is in place. With the forward-thinking and ambitious teams we have, I believe we have only scratched the surface on what we can achieve.” And CMT President Brian Philips assured his troops that Kay “is a warm, kind, funny and enthusiastic leader” who has “already fully embraced CMT’s work.”
Kay established his track record at Nickelodeon, where he developed some of the company’s biggest franchises, including SpongeBob SquarePants and The Fairly OddParents. More recently, he has been a catalyst behind some of Spike’s biggest shows, like Emmy-nominated Lip Sync Battle, Ink Master, and Bar Rescue and brought live sports into the business with the acquisition of Bellator MMA.
“I'm looking forward to seeing Kevin bring that same creative vision to the strong teams and leadership he’s inheriting with CMT and TV Land,” Bakish said in the memo.
The news comes just ahead of Viacom’s quarterly earnings report, due on February 9.
Further information regarding TV Land and CMT’s transition under Kay’s remit will be announced in the near future.

Our experience on Cyma Zarghami’s watch was wonderful and transcendent, thanks to her devotion to building CMT with the support of excellent Kids & Family team. From Music Group on, I’ve been lucky to have the best of these people remain in my life, and I rely on them still for counsel. Similarly, the new team leadership is largely comprised of people I/we have known and admired for a long time.
Bob Bakish and I go back as far as a hazy MTVN Ad Sales Conference in Puerto Rico around the time I joined in 2001. Bob has proven himself smart and tenacious as he strengthened our international business. Getting reacquainted in recent months has been a pleasure. Bob is a straight-talking optimist, a man on a mission. I bet you will be motivated by his words and presence next week. Some people we meet and think, “I want to win for him/her!” It’s intangible, yet this is how I feel about Bob, believe you will, too.

Viacom formed the GEG last year and houses Viacom’s International Media Networks (VIMN) and its Music and Entertainment Group, which includes MTV, Comedy Central, Spike, VH1 and Logo.
Being housed under the new unit “will strengthen these brands even further and will allow GEG to connect more deeply with our adult audience — which is well over 180 million viewers across Viacom brands globally,” Viacom CEO Bob Bakish said in a memo to employees.
CMT and TV Land were formerly part of the Kids & Family Group headed by Cyma Zarghami, where Bakish says Zarghami helped to lead them “to the highs they are hitting today.”
He added that he now wants her “considerable focus and drive … centered on our important kids audience” in order to “keep Nickelodeon expanding its brand and business more than ever.”
Kay followed with a memo of his own, saying: “The foundation for success is in place. With the forward-thinking and ambitious teams we have, I believe we have only scratched the surface on what we can achieve.” And CMT President Brian Philips assured his troops that Kay “is a warm, kind, funny and enthusiastic leader” who has “already fully embraced CMT’s work.”
Kay established his track record at Nickelodeon, where he developed some of the company’s biggest franchises, including SpongeBob SquarePants and The Fairly OddParents. More recently, he has been a catalyst behind some of Spike’s biggest shows, like Emmy-nominated Lip Sync Battle, Ink Master, and Bar Rescue and brought live sports into the business with the acquisition of Bellator MMA.
“I'm looking forward to seeing Kevin bring that same creative vision to the strong teams and leadership he’s inheriting with CMT and TV Land,” Bakish said in the memo.
The news comes just ahead of Viacom’s quarterly earnings report, due on February 9.
Further information regarding TV Land and CMT’s transition under Kay’s remit will be announced in the near future.

I know you may be thinking, “Wait, we work for another new company/division?” This question came up last week from an LA trade mag reporter and this is my answer: CMT has been touched by much greatness in my time at the channel, dating back to the MTVN/Music Group years. Our experience on Cyma Zarghami’s watch was wonderful and transcendent, thanks to her devotion to building CMT with the support of excellent Kids & Family team. From Music Group on, I’ve been lucky to have the best of these people remain in my life, and I rely on them still for counsel. Similarly, the new team leadership is largely comprised of people I/we have known and admired for a long time.
Bob Bakish and I go back as far as a hazy MTVN Ad Sales Conference in Puerto Rico around the time I joined in 2001. Bob has proven himself smart and tenacious as he strengthened our international business. Getting reacquainted in recent months has been a pleasure. Bob is a straight-talking optimist, a man on a mission. I bet you will be motivated by his words and presence next week. Some people we meet and think, “I want to win for him/her!” It’s intangible, yet this is how I feel about Bob, believe you will, too.
Kevin Kay’s personal and professional credentials are as strong as you read in Bob’s email. Yes, Kevin really did shepherd SpongeBob to Nickelodeon in 2001, the same year I joined the company. (I am keenly aware that between SpongeBob and me, the sponge has a larger fan base and has sold a trillion dollars more merchandise with his likeness on it.) Kevin has grown in his role every year, built a great business at Spike, and been a good partner to CMT. Kevin’s channel also has big hits and grand plans. Kevin is a warm, kind, funny and enthusiastic leader. He has already fully embraced CMT’s work, and I look forward to your chance to meet him.

“For Season 2, it’s similar to what we did season one but we’re kind of taking it to the next level with bigger stunts, in the physical sense of the word. It’s kind of an inside look into the new office space we have and what daily life is like there,” Tyler Toney told TheWrap on the phone as he drove from the group’s 25,000 square-foot, action-packed paradise in Dallas to Houston for their Super Bowl special.
“He’s somebody that we always looked up to as far as a content creator, so we were fortunate enough to spend some time with him and go out to the Fantasy Factory a few times and film a few different things,” Toney said. “The great thing about Rob is that he’s extremely genuine … to be able to have fun in whatever you’re doing is one of the reasons that he’s been successful.”
The Dude Perfect boys will partake in “Superstar Slime Showdown at Super Bowl” special on Feb. 5. The hour-long competition pits teams of NFL athletes and Nickelodeon stars against one another in a series of messy football-themed challenges.
“We’ve created this little challenge that has to deal with making different types of catches using trampolines and pads in different weather scenarios,” Toney said. “It’s kind of taking a little bit of what we do in our videos and putting a little bit of a Dude Perfect twist on it. It should be a lot of fun.”

It’s kind of an inside look into the new office space we have and what daily life is like there,” Tyler Toney told TheWrap on the phone as he drove from the group’s 25,000 square-foot, action-packed paradise in Dallas to Houston for their Super Bowl special.
“He’s somebody that we always looked up to as far as a content creator, so we were fortunate enough to spend some time with him and go out to the Fantasy Factory a few times and film a few different things,” Toney said. “The great thing about Rob is that he’s extremely genuine … to be able to have fun in whatever you’re doing is one of the reasons that he’s been successful.”
The Dude Perfect boys will partake in “Superstar Slime Showdown at Super Bowl” special on Feb. 5. The hour-long competition pits teams of NFL athletes and Nickelodeon stars against one another in a series of messy football-themed challenges.
“We’ve created this little challenge that has to deal with making different types of catches using trampolines and pads in different weather scenarios,” Toney said. “It’s kind of taking a little bit of what we do in our videos and putting a little bit of a Dude Perfect twist on it. It should be a lot of fun.”
