SEVENS TO HOST NICKELODEON NIGHT FEATURING SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS

WILMINGTON, DE – The Delaware 87ers have announced that the team will hold Nickelodeon Night featuring SpongeBob SquarePants on Wednesday, January 3, when the Sevens play the Erie BayHawks at Bob Carpenter Center at University of Delaware, Newark, DE at 7:00 P.M. Marking the latest theme night partnership between Nickelodeon and a team in the NBA Development League, the evening will be hosted by Reybold Group in support of Child Inc., the Wilmington, Delaware based charity advocates for neglected and abused children in the state.

Tickets are currently on sale and can be purchased at Ticketmaster or by calling (302)831-4016. Admission starts at just $15. Ticket sales will benefit CHILD, Inc.
Sevens players will wear custom uniforms inspired by the beloved Nickelodeon star. Jerseys will later be available to fans in an auction, which will also benefit CHILD, Inc.
The Delaware 87ers aren't the first sports team inspired by the Krusty Krab's most dedicated employee. The Norfolk Tides, a Triple-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, also modeled SpongeBob uniforms in 2015.
In March 2017, the Delaware 87ers hosted a Nickelodeon Night featuring Saban’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. To celebrate the occasion, Sevens players wore custom uniforms inspired by the Pink Ranger’s iconic design featured in Saban’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

Hillenburg executive produced his first feature film, The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, which debuted Nov. 19, 2004 and his second theatrical, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, hit theaters Feb. 6, 2015. The series is produced at Nickelodeon in Burbank.

At this year’s edition of the tentpole event, Nickelodeon aims to elevate the experience for kids in attendance, including having its own space at the Winter Classic KidZone.
