Viacom International Media Networks Southern and Western Europe, Middle East and Africa Cluster (VIMN SWEMEA) has announced a raft of milestone distribution deals with a variety of carriers and key partners, covering linear, SVOD and multiplatform distribution across Europe.
"Scaling our content and brands across platforms is a key strategic objective for VIMN," said Raffaele Annecchino, President and Managing (MD) of VIMN SWEMEA. "This series of agreements and expansions with existing and new partners underlines our ability to adapt our brands and products to a variety of affiliate models in diverse markets around the world as we seek to expand both our linear and nonlinear footprint and distribution."
VIMN launched Nick Jr. as a NOS-exclusive channel in Portugal on Thursday 2nd November 2017, as a 24-hour network dedicated to preschoolers and mothers, and currently reaches almost 73 million households around the world via cable, digital cable and satellite TV. The new channel will feature popular Nick Jr. content including Paw Patrol, Blaze & the Monster Machines and Nella the Princess Knight.
In Germany, VIMN launched Nickelodeon's Nick Play app on Amazon Fire TV on Wednesday 25th October 2017. The Dutch version of the app was also expanded from the Netherlands into Belgium this autumn under an AVOD model. Available in 41 countries, the Emmy award winning Nick Play app puts the best of Nickelodeon content at kids’ and parents’ fingertips across mobile, tablet, Chromecast and Amazon Fire TV devices.
VIMN also confirmed that from early 2018, MTV Bankia credit card holders in Spain will be able to enjoy premium content on the mobile app MTV Play. Using their exclusive login, they will have access to a wide range of exclusive MTV content including an MTV livestream, a selection of the best recently-premiered content in catch-up, and access to an extensive library with iconic MTV titles, accessible anywhere, anytime on tablet and mobile devices.
In Italy, VIMN announced a deal with Vodafone TV on Monday 2nd October 2017. The platform offers TV programs, on-demand content and third-party apps. The agreement will see Vodafone providing advanced functionality for VIMN brands Paramount Channel and VH1, including pausing, recording and catch-up services. VH1 features a lineup of iconic and contemporary music content, tailored for Italian audiences, while Paramount Channel features films and popular TV series and is one of the best performing adult channels in the Italian FTA space.
