These new songs are his re-entrance into the entertainment world after breaking into it in 2009 when his hit Nickelodeon series Big Time Rush began. The series, which also starred Kendall Schmidt, James Maslow and Carolos PenaVega, followed four Minnesota teens as they moved to Hollywood to begin their new lives as an up-and-coming boyband. The show ran from 2009 until 2013, spawning a movie, multiple albums and several tours.
Since the show’s end and the band’s hiatus, the actor-singer has been focusing mainly on the musical aspect of the arts world, really honing in on what he wanted to say and how he wanted his solo projects to sound.
International Business Times caught up with the star on the Nickelodeon HALO Awards 2017 Orange Carpet on Saturday, November 4th to find out more about the new solo music path he’s heading down, as well as his thoughts on Big Time Rush reuniting in the future.
The 28-year-old is focused on getting out singles right now, instead of an EP or album, but shared that there’s quite a bit of new music on the way.
“There’s no rhyme or reason at the moment,” he said of how he’s releasing music. “We just want to put out good work, and it kind of comes at its own time. But there’s a lot of music that I haven’t released, so we’re going to do that and see how it goes.”
Though the singer was able to have a hand in the songwriting process of the second and third Big Time Rush albums, which “kind of inspired” him to do what he’s doing now, his solo process is much different.
“Relationships have been a big part of it,” he said of his inspiration. “Traveling has been a big part and talking with people. Making connections and kind of just discovering more about myself.”
Without having to think about the rules of writing songs for a Nickelodeon boy band, Henderson said that his whole musical progression has been “much more free.”
“I don’t have any rules and I can kind of do whatever I want,” he told IBT. “And that’s been pretty much the best.”
The singer is starting to think about heading out on tour to play the new music, which he said should happen next year. “We’re gonna really kind of jam it out and have some really intimate performances and have some true fans show up for these first few rounds,” he said.
The true fans he’s referring to, of course, are "Rushers": are the ones who have been with him since the beginning, since his first days on Big Time Rush.
While he’s only writing for himself right now and is focused on his own music, he said that he wouldn’t count out an eventual Big Time Rush reunion. “If we come back at some point, I’m sure it will be pretty cool, but I think we’re very focused on our own projects,” he shared.
Fans hoping for a Big Time Rush TV reunion shouldn’t get too excited, though, because Henderson said that while he thinks it “would be funny as hell” and “crazy” to have the boys, who have “all gotten older,” reunite for a show, he’d prefer to do a concert reunion.
“I think it would be cooler to do, like, one concert,” he said. “Just do like one last hoorah-type thing. But, we’ll see.”
A Big Time Rush TV show or movie reunion might be a long-shot, especially since Henderson revealed he has not talked “to the guys in a long time,” but the star would “absolutely” want to get back into acting, though music is his main focus right now.
Which shows, if offered a guest-starring role, could get him to jump back into the acting world sooner than he thought? Westworld or Stranger Things, of course.
Luckily, while acting and a Big Time Rush reunion are on the backburner, fans have plenty of new solo music from Henderson to look forward to and enjoy.
Henderson’s latest single “Speak of the Devil” is now available, and the Nickelodeon HALO Awards 2017, a one-of-a-kind concert special honoring four young leaders who are changing their communities and the world by “Helping and Leading Others” (HALO), airs across Nickelodeon USA, TeenNick and Nicktoons on Nov. 26 at 7 p.m. ES/PT.

Logan Henderson Returns to Nickelodeon By Stepping Out for the 2017 HALO Awards
J-14 caught up with tons of your fave stars at the 2017 HALO Awards over the weekend, and Nickelodeon alum Logan Henderson made a surprising appearance on the orange carpet. We caught up with the Big Time Rush star, and he filled us in about what it was like returning back to his roots at Nickelodeon for such an important event.
"It's cool. I had a day off in the city, so I figured I’d come by and hang out, see a lot of friends that I haven’t seen before. I think HALO is a great spot to do it because there’s young talent coming out here and really making a difference in the community – and the world, really. It’s special to see that," he exclusively told us.
Naturally, we just had to asked – has he met his bandmate Carlos PenaVega's son Ocean yet? Turns out, Logan unfortunately hasn't seen the baby in person. You know, considering they live in Hawaii and all.
"I have not met Ocean yet," Logan revealed. "It's a beautiful baby. I’ve seen the baby, and I’ve talked to them about it. I couldn’t be more happy for them."
OUR HEARTS. As for how close the BTR guys are now, they are most definitely busy doing their own things. But hey, that's life. Besides, they'll always be bandmates in our mems.
Logan told us, "I haven’t talked to Carlos in a while. They’ve been super busy. Have not seen James since he’s also been busy. But I saw Kendall a couple weeks ago."
Logan just recently released a new song called "Speak of the Devil," and it's a total jam. We can't wait to see what else he has in store for us soon.
