Nickelodeon brought its third annual "Road to Worldwide Day of Play" campaign to Chicago's Far South Side on Saturday 10th September 2016!
The number one network for kids and families teamed up with Dwyane Wade's, Wade's World Foundation to host an event encouraging kids to get up and get active, WBBM's Mike Krauser reports. The event was held at Willie Mae Morris Empowerment Center, 12920 S. Halsted St, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The slime-filled day included Nick-themed games and fitness-themed activities, include a Super Slime obstacle course, Nickelodeon bowling, a slime booth, costumed characters and much more.
NBA star Dwyane Wade joined in on the fun, presenting and giving tours the Willie Mae Morris Empowerment Center (WMMEC).
"It's great to come together and see smiles on everyone’s faces," Wade said. "I know in Chicago, there has not been a lot of that lately."
The new WMMEC will be the largest of its kind on the South Side of Chicago and will provide a safe haven for youth, said the center in a statement.
"What happens in that building, the love, the sense of community, the passion is stronger than what happens out on these streets," said Mayor Rahm Emanuel, at the Day of Play event.
The center was named after Dwyane Wade's grandmother, Willie Mae, who is 97 years young and resides in Chicago.
WMMEC will provide a place to house low-cost programs, with a mission to strengthen the community at large.

“We are excited to add Regan, Michael and Landon to our partnerships in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race,” said Anthony DiCosmo, Senior Vice President, Sports Marketing and Development, Nickelodeon. “Just as we did with last season’s SpongeBob SquarePants 400 at Kansas Speedway, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 400 will continue to expand our relationship with NASCAR, while working with another best-in-class ISC track to give fans a unique and engaging race experience that the whole family can enjoy.”
During the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 400 race weekend, attendees will be able to enjoy fun family activities in the Nickelodeon Kids Zone, located in Champion’s Park. The area will feature appearances from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles costumed characters, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles photo station and more.

"My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic" Theme Song | Saturday Morning Acapella
In their latest addition to their "Saturday Morning A Capella" playlist, YouTube channel Triforcefilms has unveiled an a capella cover of the My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic opening theme tune, "Friendship Is Magic", which you can watch in the super music video below!
In the video clip, Mr. Dooves records himself singing and humming different parts (which you can see individually), while the theme song's familiar opening titles play in the centre of the screen. It's another of those videos you can watch multiple times, yet continue to notice new things!:
In the magical land of Equestria, a kingdom populated only by colorful ponies, Twilight Sparkle (voiced by Tara Strong, The Fairly OddParents), a studious young Unicorn intent only on enhancing her magical abilities, has been assigned a very important task by her mentor Princess Celestia, "Get your muzzle out of those books and make some friends!" In the quaint, village of Ponyville, Twilight Sparkle meets five new ponies and through funny, offbeat experiences and exciting, enchanted adventures, they teach her about the most powerful magic of all, the magic of friendship!
My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic is created by Lauren Faust and produced by Hasbro Studios and DHX Media Vancouver. The series is based on Hasbro's popular My Little Pony line of toys and animated works.
My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic airs regularly on Nicktoons Africa, Nickelodeon Greece, and Nickelodeon Germany (Deutschland), Nickelodeon Austria (Österreich) and Nickelodeon Switzerland's (Schweiz; locally titled My Little Pony - Freundschaft ist Magie on Nick GSA)
Here's the original My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic theme song, composed by Daniel Ingram, in all its glory! Sing along with the lyrics below!:
[Backup singer]
My Little Pony, My Little Pony
Ahh, ahh, ahh, ahhh...
[Twilight Sparkle]
(My Little Pony)
I used to wonder what friendship could be
(My Little Pony)
Until you all shared its magic with me
[Rainbow Dash]
Big adventure
[Pinkie Pie]
Tons of fun
[Rarity]
A beautiful heart
[Applejack]
Faithful and strong
[Fluttershy]
Sharing kindness!
[Twilight Sparkle]
It's an easy feat
And magic makes it all complete
You have my little ponies
Do you know you're all my very best friends?
