Nickelodeon UK Unveils Four Brand-New "Short Toons" For April 2016
New month, new toons! Nickelodeon UK and Ireland has unveiled the latest batch of freshly selected Short Toons on their official Nicktoons website and award-winning Nick Play app!
What could be better than even more side-splittingly funny cartoons, online and free whenever you fancy a chuckle?
Covering topics as varied as video games, zombie siblings and port-a-loo-loving Meerkats, developed shorts from the 2014 edition of Nickelodeon's world renowned Global Animated Shorts Programme are currently rolling out on nicktoons.co.uk and Nick Play App. Four of the funniest shorts will be available to view at any one time and, on the Nicktoons site, viewers will be able to show their appreciation for the creative work by selecting the "vote" button.

Dwyane and Neil rescue the zoo animals from Sir Richard Battenburger. Duckmanboy features the voices of Rasmus Hardiker as Dwayne, Mike Wozniak as Neil and John-Henry Falle as Sir Richard Battenburger, and was produced by Dice Productions. Following its initial debut, the short quickly became a Vimeo Staff Pick!
The Tall Tales of Urchin, by Hamish Steele:
Inspired by Dickensian tales of street orphans living in Victorian London, Urchin is a young, orphaned girl who lives on the streets of Old Town - a higgledy piggledy mash up of various eras. Along with her fellow orphans Raggamuffin and Mudlark, she tries her best to find the fun in life while being led along her friend's get rich quick schemes. In the short, Urchin's Pigeon, Beautiful, enters a Dog competition. On Sunday, April 17, 2016, from 8am to 11am, the South Bay and surrounding communities will come together to support The Samburu Project's 7th Annual Walk for Water & Pancake Breakfast event. This family-friendly event will focus on the drought that affects both Kenya and California and will educate ways in which people can make a difference, locally and globally.

The Walk for Water will take place along a 4-mile loop from Hermosa Beach Pier to Manhattan Beach Pier and back, beginning and ending at American Junkie Restaurant, located at 68 Pier Avenue, Hermosa Beach, CA. Hosted by Actress Rosa Blasi, star of Nickelodeon's The Thunderman's and special guest India Williams, Miss Santa Monica 2016. Families, local service clubs, students and local business teams participate in support of the event. Participants will receive pledges from supporters and walk 4 miles along the beautiful and famous seaside strand. Metropolitan Water District's Kids' Corner will highlight water issues around the globe and right here at home, inspiring our youth and their families to take action by becoming water conservationists. The walk will culminate with a hearty breakfast and raffle at American Junkie. Registration fee is $40 (student, family and team registrations vary).
While this is the 7th annual event, The Samburu Project is excited to have added satellite walking-teams that will be joining the event virtually. Teams in San Francisco, CA; Atlanta, GA; Marian, IA; Haverhill, MA; Detroit, MI; Stamford, CT; Brooklyn and North Salem, New York as well as London, United Kingdom and Nairobi, Kenya will be "walking so others don't have to."

Regal Academy takes the familiar world of fairy tales and turns it on its head! This fresh and funny new show is the creation of Iginio Straffi, the man behind Winx Club. It focuses on the adventures of Rose Cinderella, a normal girl who suddenly she finds herself in the world of Fairy Tales where she discovers that Cinderella is her granny! Rose is enrolled at the fabled Regal Academy where her fellow students include Hawk SnowWhite, Travis Beast, Joy LeFrog, Astoria Rapunzel and LingLing Iron Fan, all of whom belong to the school's founding families.
This new series features a mixture of comedy, music and exciting new animation techniques. Regal Academy has a worldwide deal with Nickelodeon. Nickelodeon Australia Launches "SLIME CUP", A Brand-New Adventure Game Show For Kids

This year, Nickelodeon Australia is building on over 20 years' experience of award-winning local productions with a brand new six part kids reality series, SLIME CUP. The series promises more kids, slime and challenges than ever before in the history of Nickelodeon Australia.
The SLIME CUP property combines all the elements which Australian kid audiences have loved in long-standing properties such as Camp Orange and SLIMEFEST. The new series invites kids from across Australia and New Zealand to team up with their best friend and vie for a place in the uniquely slimy competition.
Jihee Nam, General Manager for Nickelodeon Australia and New Zealand said: "When kids talk about their experience on series' such as Camp Orange, they reference it as "the best, most memorable and messy time of their lives." SLIME CUP embodies all of these same values, in a fresh new format designed to excite and reach more kids and families than ever before."
SLIME CUP is open to all kids aged 9 – 13 in Australia and New Zealand. To enter, kids can submit their audition videos online or for the first time ever, pre-register to complete a series of challenges at on-ground events in Melbourne (Sunday, 10 April from 10am – 4pm at Westfield, Fountain Gate) and Sydney (Sunday, 17 April from 10am – 4pm at Westfield, Mt Druitt). 16 teams will then be selected to compete in the Semi-Finals - a series of larger-than-life challenges to determine the final four teams. The Finale episode will see the four teams compete to win the ultimate prize of being the "Guardians of Slime" at Nickelodeon's flagship event SLIMEFEST in September.
"Traditionally, Camp Orange contestants could only enter online. For SLIME CUP, we have introduced yet another interactive element by partnering with Westfield and giving more kids the opportunity to compete in on-ground qualification events and star on our channel. Not only that, but throughout the series, kids will have more say than ever before in the outcome of the show by engaging with our digital platforms," said Ms. Nam.
But it's not just kids who will face the mess and mayhem of SLIME CUP. This year, parents will have the chance to be more involved than ever before.
"One of the most exciting twists in SLIME CUP is that parents will be randomly roped into the Semi-Finals, upping the ante on the stakes of each challenge. It's going to be family viewing at its best," said Ms. Nam.
Nickelodeon Australia has auditioned and selected budding Australian actress and filmmaker, Kristy Best to be the SLIME CUP host. She will be joined by an international Nickelodeon star yet to be announced.
"We have learnt so much from long-running series Camp Orange about what engages and entertains kids. We are always honing our approach to respond quickly to the ever-shifting trends in the way kids consume content. SLIME CUP will engage kids across every platform with some of the cheekiest, most irreverent and innovative content of any series we have ever produced," concluded Nam.

New local production features a brand new format with more kids, slime and challenges than ever before
This year, Nickelodeon Australia is building on over 20 years' experience of award-winning local productions with a brand new six part kids reality series, SLIME CUP. The series promises more kids, slime and challenges than ever before in the history of Nickelodeon Australia.
The SLIME CUP property combines all the elements which Australian kid audiences have loved in long-standing properties such as Camp Orange and SLIMEFEST. The new series invites kids from across Australia and New Zealand to team up with their best friend and vie for a place in the uniquely slimy competition.
Jihee Nam, General Manager for Nickelodeon Australia and New Zealand said: "When kids talk about their experience on series' such as Camp Orange, they reference it as "the best, most memorable and messy time of their lives." SLIME CUP embodies all of these same values, in a fresh new format designed to excite and reach more kids and families than ever before."
SLIME CUP is open to all kids aged 9 – 13 in Australia and New Zealand. To enter, kids can submit their audition videos online or for the first time ever, pre-register to complete a series of challenges at on-ground events in Melbourne (Sunday, 10 April from 10am – 4pm at Westfield, Fountain Gate) and Sydney (Sunday, 17 April from 10am – 4pm at Westfield, Mt Druitt). 16 teams will then be selected to compete in the Semi-Finals - a series of larger-than-life challenges to determine the final four teams. The Finale episode will see the four teams compete to win the ultimate prize of being the "Guardians of Slime" at Nickelodeon's flagship event SLIMEFEST in September.
"Traditionally, Camp Orange contestants could only enter online. For SLIME CUP, we have introduced yet another interactive element by partnering with Westfield and giving more kids the opportunity to compete in on-ground qualification events and star on our channel. Not only that, but throughout the series, kids will have more say than ever before in the outcome of the show by engaging with our digital platforms," said Ms. Nam.
But it's not just kids who will face the mess and mayhem of SLIME CUP. This year, parents will have the chance to be more involved than ever before.
"One of the most exciting twists in SLIME CUP is that parents will be randomly roped into the Semi-Finals, upping the ante on the stakes of each challenge. It's going to be family viewing at its best," said Ms. Nam.
Nickelodeon Australia has auditioned and selected budding Australian actress and filmmaker, Kristy Best to be the SLIME CUP host. She will be joined by an international Nickelodeon star yet to be announced.
"We have learnt so much from long-running series Camp Orange about what engages and entertains kids. We are always honing our approach to respond quickly to the ever-shifting trends in the way kids consume content. SLIME CUP will engage kids across every platform with some of the cheekiest, most irreverent and innovative content of any series we have ever produced," concluded Nam.
Registrations are now open and will close on Sunday, 24 April. SLIME CUP premieres at 5.30pm on Friday, 1 July 2016 and will feature audience voted awards, expanded digital/social media content and opportunities for bespoke integration across multiple episodes.

DMU Business And Management Student Mixes With The Stars Of Nickelodeon In New NVCP Intern Placement
A Skype interview from his New York holiday hotel room landed a De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) Business and Management student a placement at the home of SpongeBob SquarePants!
Now Matthew Cooper is working with a wide range of much-loved television characters including the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as part of his role with Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products (NVCP).
Based at Viacom International Media Networks' (VIMN) Hawley Crescent offices in North London, Matthew is finding his placement as a European Retail Sales Intern both challenging and diverse - which is pushing him to work even harder.
"I have fallen in love with it," he said.
"Originally I was interested in finance, but then I saw this role in sales. It wasn't what I was looking for but everything about it appealed.
"For me the recruitment process was a little different. I applied a couple of days before I went on holiday to New York and was asked to do an interview and presentation, which I had to research while I was there."
Matthew's role involves helping to deliver promotions to retailers, analysis of new and existing markets and retailers and looking at the brand's market presence.
He said: "It appeals because I get to see products created and then take them to industry. It's also a nice community to work in.
"One of my most memorable experiences so far has been working at the Brand Licensing Europe exhibition. I helped to run the front of the stand and was able to meet people from all over the world both from Viacom and other companies."
Matthew recommends doing a placement year to all students. "It has taught me about how to apply what I have been taught at university to the real world," he said.
The 20-year-old will return to DMU in September 2016 for his final year and hopes to pursue a career in the consumer products industry after graduating in 2017.
He said: "When I leave university I will be able to say I have experience, which really puts you ahead in the application process."
Matthew originally chose to study at DMU because he was made to feel so welcome at the Open Day. "This is where DMU stood out," he said.
He also had positive feedback from his sister, a DMU business graduate now working for Hewlett Packard.
Matthew said: "I would definitely recommend my course to others. All of my lecturers and tutors have been excellent and the university ensures there is always someone there to support you.
"My favourite part has to be the The Fox's Lair!® - a competition run as part of the first year for business students and an excellent and innovative way to teach students about enterprise."
His advice to prospective students is to put yourself out there!
He added: "Join a society, get involved in events and really throw yourself into the student experience. But be sure to plan your time, as you need to put in the work to get the best grade you can."

Cast Of Nickelodeon's New Original TV Movie "Lost In The West" Announced
Actress Kathleen Renish has announced some of the cast members of Nickelodeon's upcoming brand-new three-part original TV movie Lost in the West!
Lost in the West follows two teenage stepbrothers, Chip and Dave, who get transported back in time to 1885 after one of them accidentally invents a time machine. They soon meet the Vista de Nada and become entangled in a crazy Wild West adventure as they fight off evil outlaws, avoid changing the future and try to make it back to the present. The movie is produced by Galdo Media and directed by Carlos Gonzalez (Big Time Rush).
In Nickelodeon's upcoming all-new TV movie, Kathleen will play the character 'Mrs. Cole', and in a post on her official website, Kathleen has revealed she will be co-starring in the film with Caleb Thomas (Chase Champion), Nicko Guardado (Sam & Cat, Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn, The Goldbergs), Fallon Smythe, Morgan Higgins, Jade Zafra, Benjamin Nathan and Tony Rodriquez!
UPDATE: James Eeles, Kamran Darabi-Ford and Mark Schardan will also star in Nickelodeon's Lost in the West as the antagonists (villains) of the film!
Additionally, actress Verónica Polo has announced that she will be playing 'Coach' in the film, and actor Jimmy Shaw has revealed he'll be portraying 'Gabby' in the movie!
Nickelodeon filmed their upcoming brand-new TV movie around Spain, including Madrid, Almería, the Tabernas Desert and Castillo de La Calahorra, between September 21 and end on October 20. Nickelodeon and GALDO Media hired 400 extras for the movie. Among the scenes in the film will be a rodeo.
Lost in the West aims to regain the carefree spirit of youth cinema of the eighties, mixing adventure with humor, fantasy and Western in one of the most attractive natural landscapes in the world.
Nickelodeon has commissioned Shari Margolin to design the trilogies official logo.
