Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Northern Europe is continuing the global roll-out of Nickelodeon's award-winning Nick Play app with the launch of the Nickelodeon Play app in the Netherlands (Nederland)!
The free Nickelodeon-branded app is aimed towards 6-12 year-olds and offers videos cliips, games, and surprise elements from the network’s popular live action and animated series. New content will be added each day. The channel can also be watched live on the app, as well as a range of on-demand programmes.
The Nick App has a moveable tile layout that can be swiped in any direction, promoting discovery and exploration and offers kids instant and on-demand access to Nickelodeon-themed content. Kids can also 'favourite' their favorite videos and watch them whenever they want.
The goal of the app is to go beyond free video viewing, and instead offer more interactive content not seen on television - whenever and wherever the user wants it. As a result, it was honoured with a Creative Arts Emmy in the Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media category in September 2013, as well as a Broadcast Digital Award in 2014 and a Meffy Sector Award in 2015.
Nick Play is available for iOS and Android devices and can be downloaded from the Apple App Store and Google Play.
Warner Bros. Interactive is the official launch partner for the app in the Netherlands.
Nickelodeon Play is part of the Viacom Play Plex, a suite of mobile apps for each of Viacom’s major international brands, offering video-on-demand (VOD) access to a range of current and library content, and other content including short-form content, games on Nickelodeon Play and Nick Jr. Play, and pre-school music videos on Nick Jr. Play.
The news follows VIMN North launching Nickelodeon Play in Poland (Polska), Sweden (Sverige), Norway (Norge) and Denmark (Danmark) earlier this year.
In additional Nick North news, Nickelodeon Northern Europe has launched The Splat, Nickelodeon's destination for the most loved Nick content from the 1990s and beyond, in the Netherlands and Belgium (Belgie)! Locally titled 'Splat', fans can watch full episodes of favourite classic Nickelodeon shows, including Hey Arnold!, The Angry Beavers (Boze Bevers), Kenan & Kel, Ren & Stimpy, Rugrats (Ratjetoe), Rocko's Modern Life, Jimmy Neutron, Danny Phantom, Fanboy & Chum Chum, and CatDog, online via the official Splat websites on nickelodeon.nl and nickelodeon.be and on TV. The launch of Splat on Nickelodeon Benelux follows the launch of The Splat in the UK in October 2016.
