Nickelodeon In Talks To Revive 'Rugrats' *Updated*

Voice actor Cheryl Chase, who voiced Angelica Pickles on Rugrats, has revealed in a message to a fan on her official Facebook profile page, Facebook.com/RealCherylChase, that Chris Viscardi, Nickelodeon's Senior Vice President of Content Development for Franchise Properties, is currently in negotiations with the creators of Rugrats - Paul Germain, Arlene Klasky and Gabor Csupo - to bring back Nickelodeon's classic '90s hit original animated series!

"Hi Johnny. I appreciate your devotion to the show. I know personally the CEO in charge of bringing back the 90's franchises and they are in negotiations with the Rugrat creators to come to a deal to bring Rugrats back. It is coming back for sure!! There are no considerations at all to do any spin offs."

UPDATE (Tuesday 9th January 2018): Cheryl Chase revealed in December 2017 that Chris Viscardi is still in negotiations to revive Rugrats!:

Rugrats follows a group of toddlers - Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, Lil, Angelica, Dil, Susie, and Kimi - and their day-to-day lives, usually involving common life experiences that become adventures in the babies' imaginations. Rugrats debuted on August 11, 1991 as one of the original Nicktoons. It ran for 172 episodes, and spawned three movies - The Rugrats Movie (1998), Rugrats in Paris (2000) and Rugrats Go Wild (2003) - and two spin-off series - All Grown Up!, which chronicles the lives of the babies and their parents after ageing 10 years, and Pre-School Daze, which followed Angelica and Susie at preschool.

The exciting news follows recent announcements of Nickelodeon bringing back its library content for today's audiences: Legends of the Hidden Temple, the networks' highly anticipated original TV movie, inspired by the network’s iconic ‘90s game show of the same name, premiered in November 2016; a brand-new Rocko's Modern Life TV movie, set to debut in 2018, which will follow Rocko, Filburt and Heffer as Rocko returns to O-Town after 20 years spent drifting about in space; Hey Arnold!: The Jungle Movie, a new, original Hey Arnold! TV movie which debuted in November 2017 that featured a storyline picking up from where the original series ended in 2004, resolving unanswered questions and plotlines, including Arnold finally getting answers about the whereabouts of his missing parents; a Double Dare Reunion Special, which premiered in November 2016; and a Invader Zim TV movie, slated to debut in 2018, which will show the latest and greatest ridiculous attempt at world domination by the universe’s worst alien invader ever.

The news also follows BOOM! Studios' KaBOOM! imprint launching a brand-new Rugrats comic book series in October 2017.
