Joe Murray Reveals Details About Nickelodeon's "Rocko's Modern Life" TV Movie

Joe Murray, the creator of Nickelodeon's hit original animated series Rocko's Modern Life, has revealed what fans can expect to see in Nickelodeon's upcoming brand-new Rocko's Modern Life TV movie!

In a interview with Motherboard, Joe revealed that the made-for-television special will take place in real time, with Rocko returning to the O-Town of 2016 after 20 years spent drifting about in space. One thing the special will focus on is how little freedom everyone has from the tech platforms we've all come to rely on. Joe also revealed that the meme won't be making it in the show because the production team hope the special will be able to stand the test of time as well as the original run did. Naturally, though, Rocko will have to learn how to use the internet, and apparently Filburt and Heffer will both love smartphones and living in the appy ever after in the special.

Additionally, Joe announced on his personnel blog that the brand-new hour-long Rocko's Modern Life TV special that Rocko, Filburt and Heffer will have to deal with Modern Life in 2016, 2017 and 2018, and will feature lots of twists and turns.

Joe also revealed on his official blog that the Rocko's Modern Life TV movie will be co-directed by Cosmo Segurson, who was one of his directors on Camp Lazlo, that he has also brought in Tom Smith (former student of his and Storyboard guy at Stoopid Buddy studios) and South Park animator Dan Becker, who are both are HUGE Rocko fans, to work on the project, and that the storyboard for the special, which was split up between the four, has now been completed, with the movie now moving into production!
