The Cloverdale Reporter is reporting the PAWsome news that Nickelodeon and Pacific Bay Entertainment last week filmed scenes for their upcoming Nickelodeon Original Movie, Rufus 2, in Cloverdale, a historic town and designated town centre of Surrey, British Columbia, Canada last week! To celebrate, the Cloverdale Reporter has unveiled two super behind-the-scenes photos from the shooting of Rufus 2, which you can check out below!
As part of the on-location filming, the stars and production crew of Rufus 2 took over several locations in Cloverdale, where a handful of businesses welcomed the production for extensive interior and exterior scenes, or functioned as green rooms!
Paul Orazietti, Executive Director of the Cloverdale Business Improvement Association, told The Cloverdale Reporter that last week's production was asked to film later in the day to minimize disruption for local businesses.
Orazietti also revealed that the city received in the neighbourhood of $5,000 in filming permits and fees for Rufus 2's three-day shoot in Cloverdale July 6-8. It's not known how much local businesses were compensated, but the production earned rave reviews up and down 176 Street, providing a lift during a normally slow time of year.
Currently titled Rufus 2 (Rufus-2), the film will see Jace Norman (Henry Danger), Davis Cleveland (Legendary Dudas) and Haley Tju (Bella and the Bulldogs) reprise their roles of Rufus, Manny and Paige, respectively. Rufus 2 is also set to star Jade Pettyjohn (School of Rock) as Kat, Amitai Marmorstein (Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days) as Scott, Kalvin Olafson (Supernatural) as Billy Biggs. Ever wondered what would happen if your Dog became a dude? Manny lives the tail in the first Rufus movie! In Nickelodeon's hit original television movie, Manny has just moved to a new school, and is finding it hard to fit in. After wishing he had more friends, Manny finds a mysterious collar and puts it on his loyal dog, Rufus. Suddenly, Rufus is magically transformed into a real boy!
Manny's not sure what to do, so he enrolls Rufus in school. Quickly, Manny learns that having a dog-turned-dude by your side is pretty awesome, but it's no walk in the park, either. When the other students notice Rufus's silly dog antics - chasing squirrels, eating without utensils, asking for belly rubs, and catching soccer balls and flying discs with his mouth - he immediately earns school-wide pup-ularity. Manny's jealousy soon gets the better of him when his crush, Paige, takes a special interest in Rufus, but he eventually learns that a Dog's loyalty to his owner always comes first.
Nickelodeon's original Rufus movie was watched by a stellar 3,168,000 viewers when the film debuted on Nick USA on Monday 18th January 2016.
