Singer/songwriter Daya will make her acting debut on an upcoming brand-new episode of Nickelodeon's hit musical comedy series School of Rock, Nickelodeon's reboot of Richard Linklater's popular 2003 film (which has inspired a Tony-nominated Broadway musical, too) that's currently in production on season 2!
The Artbeatz/RED artist, whose Chainsmokers collaboration "Don't Let Me Down" is currently No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100, will play herself on the all-new episode!
In Daya's episode, titled "I Put A Spell On You," Summer (Jade Pettyjohn) gets hypnotized to improve her singing and plans to duet with Tomika (Breanna Yde) in an audition for a TV singing competition. But Summer's new talent sparks a rivalry and both girls instead try out against each other! Daya portrays one of the judges for the competition. The episode is set to premiere this fall on Nick USA.
"It was so much fun to work with the cast on School of Rock," says Daya. "I was a little nervous because it was my first acting gig, but it was such a great experience. We had so much fun on set and I can't wait for people to see the final episode!"
"Daya is so nice and talented, I had such a blast working with her and we even got to sing one of her songs, 'Hide Away'," Yde tells Billboard. Who's on Yde's wish list to guest on the show? "I would love to have Ed Sheeran or Tori Kelly as a special guest star or maybe even Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin!"
Nickelodeon shared a few first look photos from of Daya on set with Billboard, which you can check out above!
