Jama Williamson (Parks and Recreation), who recurred on the first season of Nickelodeon's brand-new live-action musical comedy series School of Rock, has been promoted to series regular for the recently greenlit season 2, Deadline reports!
Williamson plays Principal Mullins, the very uptight principal based on the character originally played by Joan Cusack in the feature film of the same name.
School of Rock, based on the 2003 Paramount movie starring Jack Black, hails from Paramount Television. It follows a group of rule-abiding students - Zack (Lance Lim), Lawrence (Aidan Miner), Freddy (Ricardo Hurtado), Summer Hathaway (Jade Pettyjohn) and Tomika (Breanna Yde) - who learn to take risks and reach new heights thanks to substitute teacher Dewey Finn (Tony Cavalero), a down-on-his-luck musician who uses the language of rock 'n' roll to inspire his class to form a secret band. New episodes from season one currently air Saturdays at 8:30pm on Nickelodeon USA.
In addition to playing Wendy Haverford, the ex-wife of regular character Tom Haverford (Aziz Ansari) on NBC's Parks and Recreation, Williamson recurred on Fox's Rake, among others. She's repped by TalentWorks and Trademark Talent.
