Fred Armisen To Voice Kraang In "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows"

To celebrate their upcoming release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows in June, Nickelodeon Movies and Paramount Pictures revealed a few bits of information about TMNT 2 at WonderCon 2016!

One of the more anticipated aspects of the sequel has been the arrival of the turtles' brainy enemy, Kraang. There's been little shown off of the villain other than brief glimpses in trailers, leaving fans waiting for a big reveal that shows off more of the character.

News from WonderCon says that there will be more Krang coming soon, with the character likely being featured in more marketing before the movie hits theaters. More importantly, we also have at least some idea of what he's going to sound like, as it was announced at the convention that Krang would be voiced by Portlandia's Fred Armisen!

Producers Andrew Form and Brad Fuller took the stage at WonderCon alongside stars Megan Fox and Stephen Amell to discuss TMNT 2 with fans and answer their questions. One of the big announcements was the casting of Armisen as Krang, with Fuller promising "Anyone who loves Fred will love what he is doing." Given that he's done voices for Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Squidbillies, Archer, The Looney Toons Show and the Smurfs movies, he certainly has a lot of experience to draw from. Given the way in which Bebop and Rocksteady have been portrayed in the trailers so far, there's a good chance Krang will have a voice that’s at least inspired by the classic series, even if Armisen does give it his own twist.

Much of the other discussion at Nickelodeon Movies and Paramount Pictures' Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows WonderCon panel centered around Casey Jones, who is apparently somewhat unwilling to join up with the Turtles team at first. It was revealed Casey is working as a corrections officer at the beginning of the film, and there's at least a chance we might see him with his iconic long hair in future installments. Amell also let fans know that he did a lot of his own stunt work in the movie, and did more than he has been allowed to do on Arrow. He also answered a fan who asked whether Casey Jones or Oliver Queen would win in a fight, saying, "Oliver Queen would be beating Casey Jones but wouldn't kill him, and then eventually Casey Jones would come back and ruin his life."

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, the Michael Bay-produced sequel to 2014's fun-filled and action-packed blockbuster Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, will feature the Heroes in a Half Shell along with their reporter pal, April O'Neil, played by Megan Fox, saving the city from a dangerous threat. Also returning is Will Farell as Vernon Fenwick, who gets a new love interest in supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio, and William Fichtner as Eric Sacks. Returning voice actors include Alan Ritchson as Raphael, Noel Fisher as Michelangelo, Pete Ploszek as Leonardo, Jeremy Howard as Donatello and Tony Shalhoub as Splinter.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II will also feature fan favourites Casey Jones along with Bebop and Rocksteady, portrayed by Stephen Amell, Gary Anthony Williams and pro wrestler Sheamus, Brittany Ishibashi as Karai, Tyler Perry as the evil humanoid fly scientist Baxter Stockman, and Brian Tee as Shredder. Laura Linney and J.J. Redick, along with a number of other players from the Los Angeles Clippers, the New York Knicks, and the evil Krang will also appear in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, which will be released in theaters across the USA and in cinemas in the UK on Friday 3rd June 2016.
