90's Nickelodeon Night Scheduled
Keys to Wear Special Rugrats-Themed Uniforms
FREDERICK, Md. -On Friday, July 31, the Frederick Keys will be holding 90's Nickelodeon Night at Nymeo Field. Gametime is at 7:00 p.m and gates open at six, as the Keys take on the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. To celebrate the evening, the night will be themed after one of the network's most iconic shows, Rugrats.
During the game, players will wear special Rugrats uniforms which will be Chucky Finster-themed. Jerseys will be raffled off during the game. Fans will also have a chance to win Rugrats prizes throughout the night and can enjoy some of the show's most entertaining video clips.
To add to the fun, there will be a host of special on-field games. One fan will be asked to identify the hairstyles of different Rugrats characters during "who in the hair is that." Additionally, a game of "guess that smell" will require one individual to identify what type of chocolate bar is melted in a diaper. Fans will also want to keep an eye out for the "diaper dog toss" featuring hot dogs wrapped in diapers which will be shot into the stands and a special "minute to win it" pickle eating contest.
Other fun between-inning games include a blankie tug of war, a bottle race, a baby crawl race, a diaper changing contest and a game of "deal or no deal" featuring Rugrats prizes. Fans can also have fun answering Rugrats trivia.
90's Nickelodeon Night is part of the network's ongoing initiative with major sports leagues to provide a variety of sports-themed content and off-channel activations. In addition to teaming up with the Keys, Nickelodeon will be bringing its most beloved shows and characters to life at alongside minor league baseball teams such as the Norfolk Tides (Orioles Triple-A).
Rugrats aired on Nickelodeon from 1991-2004, winning more than 20 awards during its 13-year run. That includes four Daytime Emmy Awards, six Kids' Choice Awards and two CableAce Awards. In commemoration of their 10th anniversary, Rugrats received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2001. In September 2013, TV Guide ranked the show as one of the "60 Greatest Cartoons of All Time."
