Back in January, Nickelodeon UK announced the network’s first-ever co-commission with Sky 1 HD (UK's premium entertainment channel), Jordan & Perri’s Ultimate Block Party. Starring dance sensations Jordan Banjo and Perri Kiely from Diversity, and made by Princess Productions, the team behind hit UK show ‘Got To Dance,’ the series follows Jordan and Perri as they travel around the UK surprising groups of kids by helping them throw the ultimate block party for their family and friends. The main attraction – each group of kids will be their party’s own headline act, as Jordan and Perri choreograph them a killer street dance routine.
The communications campaign kicked off with a press day at Lift, a centre for youths in Central London. The show’s stars met with key kids and tween/teen press, plus online platforms took part in an exclusive dance class with Jordan and Perri, followed by a first look at the series and one-on-one interview time with the boys. Also as part of the communications campaign, Jordan and Perri took part in a live Twitter Q&A using the hashtag #jordanandperri with the boys answering hundreds of fan questions to drum up engagement online and drive tune-in.
The show has launched with solid ratings for Nickelodeon UK, with the top performing episode up +38% for kids (+21% for individuals) on the slot average at 8.30am on a Saturday morning. The series is a great example of a UK commission that has local relevance, making the most of UK talent and current trends, and one that also demonstrates our successful collaboration with other broadcasters.
