Residents hit by power cut
Parts of the Pleasure Beach had to be closed on Saturday after a power cut hit the park and 300 nearby homes.
A POWER cut forced part of Blackpool Pleasure Beach to close on Saturday.
The southern area of the park, which includes Nickelodeon Land, the Big One and Revolution, was shut due to a fault in an underground cable.
Around 300 homes in South Shore were also affected between about 11am and 2pm before engineers from Electricity North West restored power.
Visitors to the Pleasure Beach were allowed into the northern part of the attraction where the rides were open as usual, and given the opportunity to use pre-booked wristbands on a future date.
No visitors got stuck on any of the rides, and the Big Blue Hotel was unaffected.
A Pleasure Beach spokesman said: “Power was lost at about 11am and Electricity North West worked hard to restore it and it eventually came back on at about 2pm.”
Electricity North West confirmed there had been a fault in an underground cable.
A spokesman said: “We apologise to customers at the Pleasure Beach for any inconvenience which was caused.
“About 300 homes in the nearby area were also affected for around the same amount of time.”
