Taylor Swift to do battle with One Direction at Kids' Choice Awards

Taylor Swift is preparing to do battle with her rumoured ex-boyfriend Harry Styles as she goes head-to-head with his band One Direction at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards.

Swift, who reportedly split from Styles last month after a brief romance, is nominated for three trophies at the upcoming ceremony, including Favorite Song for her break-up hit We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.

Ironically, the song puts her in direct competition with Styles, who is nominated in the same category with One Direction for their track What Makes You Beautiful.

The singer and the boyband will face competition from Psy's megahit Gangnam Style and Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen.

A statement from Styles reads, "We are delighted with our nominations for the Kids' Choice Awards... Thank you as always to our incredible fans and supporters!"

Swift is also competing for Favorite Voice from an Animated Movie for The Lorax and Favorite Female Singer, while One Direction are also up for Favourite Musical Group alongside Bon Jovi, Maroon 5 and Big Time Rush.

In the Hollywood categories, the contenders for the Favorite Movie award are The Amazing Spider-Man, The Avengers, The Hunger Games, and Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days.

The Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence will do battle with The Avengers' Scarlett Johansson for the Favorite Movie Actress trophy alongside Vanessa Hudgens (Journey 2: Mysterious Island) and Kristen Stewart (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2).

Johnny Depp (Dark Shadows), Andrew Garfield (The Amazing Spider-Man), Zachary Gordon (Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: Dog Days) and Will Smith (Men in Black 3) are in the running for Favorite Movie Actor.

Nickelodeon's 26th Annual Kids' Choice Awards, hosted by actor Josh Duhamel, will take place at the University of Southern California's Galen Center in Los Angeles on 23 March.

Taylor Swift and Harry Styles Set for Kids’ Choice Awards Showdown

Taylor Swift and Harry Styles will be going head to head at the Kids’ Choice Awards next month. Swift’s breakup jam “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” and One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful” are both nominated for Favorite Song, the awards show announced Wednesday.

So, are the exes prepping for another awkward run in?

Nope! Styles, 19, won’t have to worry about Swift, 23, mocking him in another performance (at least, not while in the same room).

While the Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards are taping in Los Angeles on March 23, Taylor Swift will be clear across the country. The Grammy winner will have recently embarked on her “Red” tour and is set to play in Columbia, South Carolina, on the same night.

It seems as though the One Direction playboy isn’t taking this latest breakup too hard though.

“Sometimes if I like someone, sometimes it doesn't work out and sometimes it does," Styles told the U.K. publication We Love Pop adding that he doesn't want to be single forever. "If the right person was there, I'd go for it. I wouldn't stay single purposefully. You don't really know what's going to happen."

Styles admits that he has never experienced love at first sight (it’s rather doubtful Swift could say the same).

“I think for me, it's more infatuation at first sight,” he continued. “You can see someone and I think ‘She's amazing.' I wouldn't say I could fall in love at first sight, but maybe I just haven't done that yet.”

Swift has been busy this week filming her new music video for "22" and many are speculating she will be taking another shot at her British ex, following her callout at the Grammys last Sunday.

So, who do you think will get the last laugh at the Kids' Choice Awards? Tune in March 23 to find out, as “Safe Haven” hunk Josh Duhamel assumes hosting duties.

Selena Gomez lands Kids’ Choice nods

Selena Gomez has been nominated for Favourite TV Actress at Nickelodeon’s 26th Annual Kids’ Choice Awards.

The full list of contenders for the annual awards ceremony will be released later today, but the nominations for Favourite TV Actress, Actor, Show, and Reality Show categories have already been announced.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Selena Gomez is up for two awards for her role in the Wizards of Waverly Place.

The brunette beauty will be competing in the Favourite TV actress and Favourite TV show categories at the ceremony on March 23.

Miranda Cosgrove (iCarly), Bridgit Mendler (Good Luck Charlie) and Victoria Justice (Victorious) are also among the Favourite TV Actress nominees, with their respective shows competing against Selena's for Favourite TV Show.

Miranda thanked fans for her show's nod at the upcoming awards ceremony, gushing: “I’m so honoured to be nominated and thrilled that iCarly was recognised by our amazing fans."

In the Favourite TV Actor category, a host of first time nominees were announced.

Carlos Pena (Big Time Rush), Lucas Cruikshank (Marvin Marvin), Jake T. Austin (Wizards of Waverly Place) and Ross Lynch (Austin & Ally) are all up the gong.

Meanwhile, the nominees for Favourite Reality Show are America’s Got Talent, American Idol, The Voice and Wipeout.

Josh Duhamel will be hosting at this year's event.

Speaking of his role at the popular show, the actor said in a statement earlier this year: "Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards is a great event that celebrates kids by honouring their opinions and taps into the kid in all of us. I have a lot of secret plans for when I host the awards, but I can tell you I'm excited to lead millions of kids into total crazy fun, chaos… and, of course, endless slime!"

Josh follows a list of stars who have previously hosted the awards, including Will Smith who took to the stage last year.

One Direction gets two nominations for 2013 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards

One Direction has scored two nominations for the 2013 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, which will take place March 23 at the University of Southern California's Galen Center in Los Angeles. Nickelodeon (which announced the show's nominations on Feb. 13, 2013) will telecast the show on March 13, 2013, at 8 p.m. EST/PST.

One Direction is nominated for Favorite Music Group, while One Direction's "What Makes You Beautiful" is nominated for Favorite Song.

Voting for the 2013 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards will be open to the public on Nickelodeon's official website, as of Feb. 14, 2013.

One Direction will not be at the ceremony because the group is doing two concerts in Birmingham, England, on March 23, 2013. However, if One Direction wins an award, then it's possible that a prerecorded acceptance speech will be shown during the telecast.

Josh Duhamel is hosting the awards show. Performers and presenters are to be announced.

One Direction performed "What Makes You Beautiful" at the 2012 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards (U.S.), but the group was not nominated at that show because One Direction's music was released in the U.S. after the eligibility date for that show. One Direction won prizes in the U.K.-only categories of the 2012 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards.

One Direction came in third place on "The X Factor" U.K. in 2010 and has since become "The X Factor's" biggest-selling act worldwide. One Direction has already won numerous awards (usually voted by the public), including prizes at the 2013 People's Choice Awards, 2013 NRJ Radio Awards, 2012 MTV Video Music Awards, 2012 Teen Choice Awards, 2012 BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards, 2012 MTV Europe Music Awards, 2012 Bambi Awards and 2012 Brit Awards.
