Available Thursday, Nov. 1, this educational app brings to life a swim-sational school day with the Bubble Guppies, allowing kids to join Molly, Gil, Mr. Grouper and all their friends.

Co-developed by Bubble Guppies series creators, Johnny Belt and Robert Scull and curriculum specialists, and tested by focus groups, the app teaches kids all about animals and allows them to take part in a day of play at school. Through a series of interactive games, kids will learn about animal diet, animal habitats and animal attributes- what penguins like to eat, where baby giraffes live, and what zebras and clownfish have in common (stripes!).

As kids follow any of the ten featured animals and complete an Animal School Day, they earn a Gold Star - a Gold Starfish, that is – which rewards them and encourages them to earn more. Along the way, kids will laugh along with the Bubble Guppies' animal-themed jokes such as: What kind of dog has the cleanest hair? A sham-poodle!

In addition to playing through an entire Animal School Day, kids can choose to play one of the four rich and replayable educational games on their own. The parade's signature giant character balloons are one of the procession's most famous elements, each year drawing millions of cheers from spectators young and old. Also making its parade debut as the latest member of the parade's Blue Sky Gallery series is Companion by KAWS. The series, which debuted in 2005, invites world-renowned artists to create high-flying works of art for the procession. Said to be the artist's alter-ego, Companion is a shy character who prefers to cover his eyes from the millions of spectators set to gaze at him as he flies down the route. Zodiak Kids has secured four new UK publishing deals for its Nick Jr. CG-animated preschool property Tickety Toc.

The deals include Igloo Books (board, paperback, pop-up, coloring, sticker, activity books for the UK and Eire from fall 2013), Century Books (annuals from fall 2013), Immediate Media (Sunshine and I Love magazines from early 2013), and Redan (Fun to Learn Friends and Fun to Learn Favourites magazines from this month).

Recent L&M partners for the brand include Florida-based toyco Just Play (US and Canada master toy), Anchor Bay Entertainment (US and UK DVD), Vivid Imaginations (UK and international master toy), and Cooneen & Miserli (UK sleepwear and underwear).

The 52 x 11-minute series is produced by The Foundation (part of Zodiak Kids) and Korea-based FunnyFlux Entertainment. Zodiak Kids controls all worldwide rights for the IP except in Korea and Japan.

Bing Bunny bounces on to CBeebies

CBeebies in the UK has picked up Bing Bunny, a new preschool series based on the popular children's books by author and illustrator Ted Dewan.

The 78x7’ animated series is being made by UK indie Acamar Films, a firm set up by former BBC exec Mikael Shields and Phillip Bergkvist and which hired former Nickelodeon UK chief Howard Litton a couple of years ago.

Acamar has been working on Bing Bunny with Dewan for several years. The property already comprises a number of books and a child-friendly online destination called Bingbunny.com, which is still in beta.

The franchise is now due a major push, however, after HarperCollins picked up publishing rights, promising a “groundbreaking transmedia” launch shortly, and The Licensing Company onboard to handle merchandising.

The TV series doesn’t yet have an airdate but CBeebies is the first among a string of broadcasters Acamar hopes to announce in the coming weeks and months.

Industry veteran Shields will produce the show while Lucy Murphy – an exec with credits at King Rollo, Novel Entertainment and Aardman – is associate producer. Litton is exec producing.

Shields said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be working with CBeebies and, after a lengthy development, just delighted that the show is going to be made and broadcast to children worldwide.”

Bing Bunny celebrates the realities, learning and adventure of being a preschool child.
