The good news? The show will air for one more season before getting yanked.
Victorious creator Dan Schneider confirmed the cancellation on his blog Friday, emphasizing that it was the network's decision to pull the plug.
"By now, a lot of you have heard that Victorious will not be returning for a 4th season," Schneider wrote. "That is true. This was the network's decision - not mine."
Schneider also confirmed that the show will run for another season.
"There is a whole NEW season of Victorious coming your way," he wrote. "We just finished shooting 15 new episodes, and they're amazing. If you love Victorious, I feel sure you will love the NEW episodes coming!"
Schneider - who also created Nickelodeon fare such as iCarly and Zoey 101 - said he understood fans' disappointment, but urged them not to begrudge the show's stars.
"I know that some of you are upset and angry - and while I feel terrible about that, I'm also flattered by it. I really appreciate that you care so much. It means you love the show, which makes me feel very proud," Schneider wrote. "But I ask that you please not be angry with Victoria, or Leon, Liz, Ariana, Avan ... or ANY of the Victorious cast members or staff. They all wanted Victorious to continue - so did I."
Nickelodeon has not yet responded to TheWrap's request for comment.
From M Magazine:
M Exclusive: Victorious will NOT be returning for season four! Also, from Dan Schneider's official DanWarp blog:
Hey M Girls,
Ever since we heard news that Ariana Grande was working on a brand new spin-off show, "Sam & Cat" we were wondering what it meant about the future of "Victorious"!
Well, we just spoke to Victoria Justice minutes ago who told M exclusively that the show won't be returning for a fourth season.
She said: "We will not be expecting a fourth season, this is the first time I've talked about it. I just found out a couple of days ago that we're not coming back. It's sad because I've been with Nickelodeon since I was 12 years old and I became a family with my Victorious cast. We spent a lot of time together and bonded for sure -- I'll look back on the experience very fondly. It's a little shocking and a little bittersweet, but at the end of the day it might not be such a bad thing -- we all want to do our own thing and continue to grow." We're going to miss Victorious so much!
The good news is, the show will live on in Ari's new spin-off -- and Vic will be watching! She said: "I think it will be great! Ariana and Jennette are both so talented and funny and fans are going to love it!"
While we're bummed that we won't get another season of Victorious, we're excited to see Sam & Cat and to see the amazing things the cast does next!

VictoriousAlso, from Deadline.com:
Hey guys! If I misspell anything in this post, please forgive me – I'm in the back seat of a car, typing on my phone!
Okay, first things first…
There is a whole NEW season of Victorious coming your way. We just finished shooting 15 new episodes, and they're amazing. If you love Victorious, I feel sure you will love the NEW episodes coming!
By now, a lot of you have heard that Victorious will not be returning for a 4th season. That is true. This was the network's decision – not mine.
Please understand: Almost all Nickelodeon shows have a life of about 60 episodes. We made around 60 episodes of Drake & Josh… of Zoey 101… and we made 41 episodes of The Amanda Show… and all those shows were big hits.
So, it's not unusual for a Nick show to do a run of just 60 episodes. I would love to have made more than 60 of Victorious, but that's how it usually goes.
We're extremely proud of the show, and all we've accomplished.
Also – and it's really important that you know this – the network's decision about Victorious had nothing to do with "Gibby" or "Sam & Cat". I promise. Even if there was no "Gibby" and no "Sam & Cat" – the network still would have ended Victorious after its 60-episode run.
I know that some of you are upset and angry – and while I feel terrible about that, I'm also flattered by it. I really appreciate that you care so much. It means you love the show, which makes me feel very proud.
But I ask that you please not be angry with Victoria, or Leon, Liz, Ariana, Avan... or ANY of the Victorious cast members or staff. They all wanted Victorious to continue – so did I.
But remember! Stay psyched about the 15 new episodes of Victorious coming your way!
And I hope you'll continue to support Victoria Justice, and me, and all the stars of Victorious. I can almost guarantee you – they will make a big impact on the future of entertainment.
And finally... of course... I will keep making the best, funniest TV shows I know how to make, for as long as people have fun watching them.
I'll see you online later, and I'll try to answer some of your questions.
Thanks for listening. As always, please be nice to each other. :)
Love,
–Dan (a.k.a. DanWarp)
Nickelodeon’s ‘Victorious’ Cancelled After Three SeasonsAlso, from Digital Spy:
Prolific Nickelodeon creator Dan Schneider will see both of his hit series for the cable network iCarly and Victorious get off the air after final runs this fall. “Nickelodeon will not be moving forward with production on a fourth season of Victorious following the final season that will premiere this fall,” the network said in a statement. “We are very proud of the show, its very talented cast, and our audience will continue to see many of them in upcoming new Nickelodeon projects.” The news comes on the heels of Nick just ordering two iCarly spinoff pilots from Schneider: Sam & Cat, starring series’ Jennette McCurdy and Ariana Grande, and Gibby toplined by Noah Munck.
Schneider took to Twitter and his blog to comment on the cancellation of the show starring Victoria Justice, making it clear it was not his decision.

Nickelodeon opts out of fourth season of 'Victorious'Also, from The Huffington Post:
© Jason Redmond/AP/Press Association Images Nickelodeon has opted out of ordering a fourth series of Victorious.
The successful kids' show, a comedy about a performing arts school starring Victoria Justice, will not return after finishing its current run.
Creator Dan Schneider took to his blog yesterday (August 10) to reassure fans that new episodes are on the way.
He said: "We just finished shooting 15 new episodes, and they're amazing. If you love Victorious, I feel sure you will love the NEW episodes coming!
"By now, a lot of you have heard that Victorious will not be returning for a 4th season. That is true."
He added that bringing the show to a close was "the network's decision - not mine". However, the showrunner said that a cancellation at this stage is not unusual for a Nickelodeon show.
He noted: "Please understand: Almost all Nickelodeon shows have a life of about 60 episodes. We made around 60 episodes of Drake & Josh… of Zoey 101… and we made 41 episodes of The Amanda Show… and all those shows were big hits.
