Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom embarks on UK tour in October
Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom, adapted from the popular children's TV animation, is coming to the stage for the first time for an extensive UK tour later this year. The production comes from the same team behind Peppa Pig and will premiere at The Orchard Theatre, Dartford on 26 October.
A scene from the Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom TV show The TV show, which airs on Nick Jr and 5's Milkshake, won a BAFTA award for Best Pre-School Animations in 2009 and a British Animation Award for Best Pre-School Series in 2012. The musical version will see Ben and Holly helping Gaston the Ladybird clean up his messy cave, going on a trip to The Big World with tooth-fairy Nanny Plum, and also planning a surprise birthday party for King Elf with a surprising jelly flood.
Richard Lewis has adapted Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom from the TV animation for the stage and also directs the production. Lewis, along with Mani Svavarsson the composer, worked on the two highly popular Peppa Pig theatre tours. The cast and rest of the creatives have yet to be announced.

PlaySquare to develop touchable television
Looking to make the television experience for kids more active than passive, TV and technology industry veterans Alex Kay, Scott Webb and Tinsley Galyean have launched a new company called PlaySquare that will develop tablet-based Touchable Television.
Using a new proprietary technology and interface design, PlaySquare's Touchable Television can take existing children's video libraries and convert them into interactive experiences for the iPad.
PBS literacy-themed kids series WordWorld has signed on as PlaySquare's first licensee and a free iPad app was released today on the Apple App Store.
Kay, who co-founded the Ready to Learn Partnership, is PlaySquare's CEO, while Webb, who served as Nickelodeon's creative director of for 17 years, is CCO, and Galyean, an acclaimed technologist and artist whose clients have included Disney and Discovery Kids, is the company’s CTO.
Former Sesame Workshop children's media specialist Tina Peel has also signed on as an advisor and executive producer. Peel brings 15 years of experience from the Workshop, where she was the VP and project director of Ghostwriter and Sesame Street and VP of production research.
She was also an executive producer on Nick Jr. series Max and Ruby and EVP of WordWorld.

Brenda Piper is the Chief Marketing Officer for the Animation, Young Adults & Kids Media Group of Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., responsible for providing overall vision and leadership to all areas of marketing, on-air and trade creative services that support the cable television networks and the digital enterprises within this division of Turner. A veteran brand marketing and promotion executive, she previously served as Senior Vice President of Integrated Marketing and Promotions for Nickelodeon, MTVN Kids and Family Group, as Vice President of Consumer Marketing for VH1 and as Vice President of Affiliate Marketing, Entertainment Group for MTV Networks.
