Nickelodeon's "Supah Ninjas" Wins "2012 Writers Guild Awards" Award

According to Digital Spy, the episode of the hit Nickelodeon action-comedy series "Supah Ninjas", which was created by Leo Chu and Eric Garcia, titled "Hero of the Shadows" won the Writers Guild of America's "Children's - Episodic & Specials" award at the recent "2012 Writers Guild Awards" ceremony, where the show ("Supah Ninjas") beat of stiff competition from two other hit Nickelodeon shows which were nominated in the same "2012 Writers Guild Awards" category; "iCarly" for the episode called "iLost My Mind", and "The Troop" for the episode titled "Oh, Brother":

The popular Nickelodeon series "Supah Ninjas" revolves around Mike Fukanaga (Ryan Potter), the Nickelodeon shows main protagonist, and his friends, Owen Reynolds (Carlos Knight) and Amanda McKay (Gracie Dzienny). After the death of his grandfather, Grandpa "Hologramps" Fukunaga (George Takei), Mike is given a mysterious letter which leads him to discover that he comes from a long line of ninjas. With Owen, and later Amanda, they are ushered into the world of crime-fighting, forming the team "Supah Ninjas." They are trained with a hologram of Mike's grandfather, whom Owen refers to as "Hologramps", to fight crime in Empire City.

In the "Supah Ninjas" episode "Hero of the Shadows", which is the pilot episode (first episode) of "Supah Ninjas", when Amanda - Mike's long-time crush - gets kidnapped by The Rhymer (Christopher Reid), they try to go and rescue her. After finding her, they get captured. With the help of Amanda, they defeat The Rhymer and his gang (Lateef Crowder, Michelle Lee and Sam Looc) and escape. The next day, Amanda confronts them about knowing they are the "Supah Ninjas" and makes them let her join claiming that they couldn't have saved her without her.

UK Satellite TV Provider Sky Expands 'Sky Go' App

Sky expands Go app

UK satellite TV provider Sky is expanding its Sky Go mobile app, adding more channels and making it available on a wider range of devices.

From this week, viewers accessing the live TV app will be able to watch three more live Sky entertainment channels on the move: Sky1, Sky Living and Sky Arts1.

Sky is also launching the app for Android devices for the first time, a move that a Sky spokesman said will effectively double the size of its addressable audience.

Previously, the Sky Go mobile app included the five Sky Sports channels, ESPN, Sky News and the range of Sky Movie channels. However, the only entertainment channel that was available was Sky Atlantic, which launched on the app at the end of January.

While mobile users are able to access movie content on-demand, the other channels are only available through the app on a linear basis – though Sky said more on-demand content will follow in time.

The online version of the service, available through PC, Mac and Xbox games consoles, already offers more on-demand options and an expanded line-up of 39 channels, including MTV, Gold, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, History, Nat Geo Wild and Eden.

Sky Go launched last year when Sky brought together its separate Sky Mobile TV and online Sky Player offerings together under one banner.

Before this week, the Sky Go mobile app was only available for Apple iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. Sky estimated that in the UK market there are currently some 11 million of these iOS devices in use and an equivalent number of Android devices, made by the likes of Samsung and HTC.

The news comes just weeks after Sky said it was planning to launch a stand-alone internet TV service in the first half of this year to go head-to-head with on-demand rivals Netflix and LoveFilm.

Brit sensations One Direction stole the show on ‘iCarly.’ The behind-the-scenes filming of the ‘X Factor U.K.’ winners’ stint on the Nickelodeon hit shows the cast and crew dancing and clapping along to their hit ‘What Makes You Beautiful.’

Filmed on Jan. 30, it’s a pretty standard performance by the guys, full of their signature melodies and charm. At the end, Harry Styles does a sheepish head shake. Aww!

We reported last month that the ‘One Thing’ singers would play themselves on the show. The plot outline: Carly (Miranda Cosgrove) returns home after a trip and falls ill. She finds out that One Direction agreed to perform on her web show, however, and is absolutely thrilled! That is, until Styles falls ill and Carly dotes on him. This would be adorable, but she later learns that he faked his sickness for attention. Not cool, Harry! Carly and her crew plan to get Styles back in the group by pretending Gibby is a new member.

Does her scheme work? You’ll have to tune into the episode when it airs to find out! One thing we do know: Niall Horan has a crush on a certain Ms. Cosgrove! Think we’ll see their chemistry onscreen?

Still, now it looks like it’s only a matter of time before One Direction have officially brought our country under their collective thumb.
