SLIMEFEST MAKES A GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS SPLASH IN A NIGHT FILLED WITH SLIME, MUSIC, AND A POIGNANT DISPLAY OF POSITIVITY FROM KIDS AND CELEBS
Stan Walker leads the crowd to "throw a square in the air" to take a stand against meanies; Commando Steve dropped into slime dunk tank as voted by kids
Saturday September 15, Sydney – In the tradition of the hugely popular Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, the inaugural SLIMEFEST made a huge splash on its audience today, breaking a Guinness World Record for "Most People Slimed Simultaneously" amongst crazy slime games led by celebrities and electrified music performances. The two 90-minute music concerts at 11.00am and 5.00pm took place at the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney and broadcast around the country at 6.00pm on Nickelodeon.
A Guinness World Records Official witnessed and verified that 3026 Australian kids and tweens were slimed simultaneously from the two SLIMEFEST music concerts, via an epic slime-storm that rained down upon the 'sloshpit' from the giant "SLIMEFEST-ATRON" periscope.
The show opened with JUSTICE CREW bringing some "Boom Boom" into the room, hyping the crowd and setting the high-energy scene for what was to come. Show hosts LUKE & WYATT teased kids with a "SLIME SPINNER", used to determine the slime games of the night, before JESSICA MAUBOY had kids rocking along to "Inescapable" and her current hit from The Sapphires soundtrack, "Gotcha".
The first slime-tastic game of the night, Balloon Blitz, divided the crowd into two teams: The Orange All-Stars and the Wyatt Warriors. Kids worked together to move giant balloons filled with flutter, feathers and slime to celebrities CHARLOTTE DAWSON, JESSICA MAUBOY, BRIAN MCFADDEN and E-MAN from JUSTICE CREW, who burst them in spectacular fashion on spikes on stage. Another hilariously star-studded game called Shooting Stars featured RACHAEL FINCH, TIFFANY HALL, REECE MASTIN and JOHNNY RUFFO, with kid competition winners shooting slime from a cannon at the celebs down the "splatwalk"!
In true Nickelodeon style, SLIMEFEST included several show-stopping moments, but the most touching and uplifting moment of the night came from DARE TO BE SQUARE. Celebrities ROVE, DELTA GOODREM, LISA WILKINSON, KARL STEFANOVIC, RUBY ROSE and CODY SIMPSON introduced the new pro-social campaign for positivity, inspired by the ever-optimistic SpongeBob SquarePants. A newly-blonde STAN WALKER sang "Dynamite", with the lyrics re-versioned to lead the 5000-strong crowd to "throw their squares up in the air sometime". Square photos sent in by both kids and celebrities flashed up on the big screen while kids in the audience threw up their own square symbols, creating an amazing moment of solidarity against meanies - a touching display representing positivity and inclusiveness.
In the most highly-anticipated sliming of the night, it was revealed that kids had voted for COMMANDO STEVE to beat out fellow celeb nominees RICHARD WILKINS, CHARLOTTE DAWSON and BRIAN MCFADDEN for the honour of being ceremoniously dunked into a dunk tank, for Nickelodeon's first full-body slime submersion! Then it was time for the giant slip'n'slide, with special guests RACHAEL FINCH and TIFFANY HALL joining JOHNNY RUFFO, COMMANDO STEVE, REECE MASTIN and Nick competition winners competing to slime the winning half of the sloshpit.
The 5.00pm show featured a bonus surprise performance from GUY SEBASTIAN singing his feel-good hits, "Don't Worry, Be Happy" and "Gold". Other music medleys that rocked the crowd included the massively popular REECE MASTIN with "Shut UP and Kiss Me", "Shout It Out" and "Goodnight"; JOHNNY RUFFO with "On Top of the World" and a cover of "Call Me Maybe"; STAN WALKER with "Light It Up", "Loud" "Music Won't Break Your Heart"; and CHRISTINA PARIE represented the spirit of the audience demographic with "16 and Unstoppable" in between her backstage hosting duties.
The evening ended with a splash-tacular grand finale slime fight with kids and stars sharing a joyous celebration of the green goodness to the tune of "Good Time" - capping off what looks to be the beginning of an exciting new SLIMEFEST tradition!
