Production begins on Dance Academy season three
Production on season three of ABC3′s hit live-action teen drama series Dance Academy has started in Sydney, Australia.
The new season (13 x 24 minutes) of the Werner Film Productions series follows small-town girl Tara Webster (Xenia Goodwin) and her friends as they complete their final year at the fictitious National Academy of Dance in hopes of attaining a professional dancing contract.
Dance Academy has now been sold to more than 180 territories and recently debuted on TeenNick in the US and Nickelodeon in the UK. The series also airs in Germany, France, Italy, Spain and throughout Europe, South America, Africa and Asia.
The new season, which is expected to air from mid-2013, brings the total number of Dance Academy episodes to 65.
According to ABC TV’s controller of children’s television Tim Brooke-Hunt, the series has also experienced success online via social media and on ABC3′s YouTube channel.
