According to Nickelodeon USA on their official Twitter profile page (@NickelodeonTV) and the 'Nickelodeon Stars' section of the (geo-locked) official Nickelodeon USA website, Nick.com, Nickelodeon USA will be premiering and showing a brand new special documentary about the UK-Irish boy band "One Direction" called "A Year In The Making" on Saturday 14th July 2012:

One Direction documentary to make U.S. premiere on NickelodeonAlso from Examiner.com:
On Tuesday I posted that Nickelodeon would be airing a one hour concert special dedicated to One Direction on July 14. Today the network tweeted that the special would actually be "One Direction: A Year in the Making," the documentary the band filmed last year and aired on UK television.
One Direction attends the premiere of Nickelodeon's "Big Time Movie"; Photo credit: Michael Loccisano/Getty Images for Nickelodeon “One Direction: A Year in the Making,” features band members Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson on their journey to fame over their first year as a group in the UK. It features behind the scenes and exclusive footage as well as interviews with each of the members as they talk about what it was like going from auditioning as individuals on The X-Factor in the UK to being put together as a group by the judges. The documentary follows the band into practice sessions and showing sides of the band often not captured by the cameras.
Lots has changed for the band since this documentary was filmed, such as a #1 album worldwide, including having one of the top five albums of the year so far here in the U.S., they've completed their first headlining tour and are getting ready for a 2013 World Tour which stops by Pepsi Center next July.
This likely won't be the only 1D television special we see on Nickelodeon in the future. Nickelodeon announced at their network upfront event in March that they signed a program development deal with the band. Since then, the band's image has been noticeably higher on the networks of Nickelodeon. 1D hosted Saturday nights on the network throughout the month of March and was even the headline performers at the network's annual Kids Choice Awards. The boys even put their acting skills to the test for the network when they guest starred on the hit Nickelodeon comedy “iCarly” back in April.
"One Direction: A Year in the Making" makes it U.S. television debut Saturday, July 14 at 8/7c on Nickelodeon.
[...] the authorized TV documentary "One Direction: A Year in the Making" (which originally aired in the U.K. in November 2011 on ITV2) is finally going to get a U.S. TV premiere on Nickelodeon, which has a development deal with One Direction. Nickelodeon announced that its premiere of the documentary is scheduled for July 14, 2012, at 8 p.m. Eastern/Pacific Time, after the network airs a repeat of the "iCarly" episode "I Go One Direction," which features a guest appearance by One Direction. Nickelodeon does not plan to add new footage to the documentary, which premiered in the U.K. after One Direction's first album, "Up All Night," was released in the U.K. and Ireland, but before the album was released in the U.S. and several other countries. Of course, many devoted One Direction fans outside of Europe have already seen this documentary, since bootlegged copies have been available on the Internet.
The unauthorized documentary "One Direction: The Only Way Is Up" is set for a direct-to-DVD release in the U.S. on August 7, 2012, and in other countries on July 16, 2012. Based on [the] trailer for the DVD, don't expect the DVD to have any new interviews with One Direction, and expect a lot of filler footage of people talking about One Direction. And since it is a cheaply made unauthorized documentary, One Direction's original music won't be in the documentary. Instead, the documentary will have karaoke background music that sounds similar to One Direction songs. Of course, there are fans that will buy anything that has One Direction's name on it, but if you want a more insightful look at the band, "One Direction: A Year in the Making" is a much better choice to watch, even if the documentary is outdated.
