Nickelodeon Announces Raft Of Deals With Emerging European Markets For Popular Nickelodeon Shows At NATPE Budapest 2012

Emerging European markets catch the Nickelodeon bug


A slew of international broadcasters have scored Nick programming and Nickelodeon branded Nissan Note cars are set to roll out in France.

Coming off of Viacom International Media Networks' showcase at NATPE in Budapest, broadcasters from Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) have nabbed a swath of Nickelodeon live action and animation programming.

Free-to-air broadcaster Viasat Baltics has signed for a major Nickelodeon package deal that includes Kung Fu Panda season 1, a presale of Penguins of Madagascar season 3, Planet Sheen season 1, T.U.F.F. Puppy season 1, Back at the Barnyard season 1 and The Troop season 1. The package also includes a re-license on SpongeBob SquarePants seasons 1 to 8, and Penguins of Madagascar relicense seasons 1 and 2.

In Poland, leading broadcaster TV4 has signed for smash hit girls' animation Winx Club seasons 3 and 4 and specials.

In Slovenia, Pro Plus is taking Avatar: The Last Airbender season 1 and 2, Zoey 101 season 4 and Penguins of Madagascar season 1, Dora the Explorer seasons 1 and 2, Go, Diego Go! seasons 1 and 2 to its audiences for the first time.

Digitalb in Albania has inked a deal for Victorious season 1, The Troop season 1, Dora the Explorer seasons 1 to 4, Danny Phantom seasons 1 to 4, Planet Sheen season 1, Big Time Rush season 2 and specials, iCarly season 3 and Kung Fu Panda season 1.

Kanal 2 in Estonia has signed a relicense deal on 68 episodes of Catdog and episodes 101 to 115 of Catscratc.h [Catscratch.]

In Armenia, Armenian Second TV Channel has signed a Nickelodeon branded block that includes Spongebob SquarePants episodes 1 to 52, iCarly episodes 209 to 234, Big Time Rush season 1 and season 2a, Dora the Explorer season 1 and Go, Diego Go! season 1 and season 2a.

Audiences in Kazakhstan will see Hey Arnold [Hey, Arnold!] seasons 1 to 5, Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius seasons 1 to 3 and Team Umizoomi seasons 1 to 3 following a deal signed with the country's Channel Kazakhstan, while Balapan has also picked up Team Umizoomi as a part of a Nick Junior [Nick Jr.] branded block.

Georgia's Imedi TV has relicensed SpongeBob SquarePants seasons 1 and 5 and Avatar: The Last Airbender seasons 1 and 2, plus signed new deals on SpongeBob SquarePants seasons 6 and 7, Avatar: The Last Airbender season 3, iCarly season 1 and from the MTV portfolio – MTV VMA 2012 and MTV EMA 2012

TNT in Russia has signed Kung Fu Panda season 1, Planet Sheen season 1 and Penguins of Madagascar seasons 1 and 2.

In other Nick news [Nickelodeon News], Be Viacom France has signed its first ever exclusive car sector deal for a limited edition Nissan Note featuring Nickelodeon branding and a plethora of Spongebob SquarePants and Dora the Explorer goodie pack and programming additions to the car interior.

A limited edition of 1,000 Nickelodeon branded cars go on sale this summer in France supported by on-air, online, print and outside ad spots, and will be released in September in Belgium and the Netherlands.

CEE nets pet Kung Fu Panda, Puppy

Broadcasters across Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) have acquired Viacom-distributed children’s programmes such as Kung Fu Panda and T.U.F.F. Puppy.

One key deal sees Baltics free-to-air broadcaster Viasat acquiring the first seasons of Kung Fu Panda, Planet Sheen, T.U.F.F. Puppy, Back at the Barnyard and The Troop, and pre-buying season three of Penguins of Madagascar. It has also re-licensed seasons 1-8 of SpongeBob SquarePants and one and two of Penguins.

Polish broadcaster TV4 has bought girls-skewed animated series Winx Club (s3-4) and a number of specials, while Slovenia’s Pro Plus has bought a package that includes Avatar: The Last Airbender and Zoey 101.

Other nets that have taken Viacom International Media Networks’ kids shows are Digitalb (Albania), Kanal 2 (Estonia), Armenian Second TV Channel (Armenia), Channel Kazakhstan and Balapan (Kazakhstan), Imedi TV (Georgia) and TNT (Russia).
