Viacom extends Lynn's remit to 63 global channels
Viacom UK & Ireland managing director David Lynn has been handed an extended remit covering Russia, Israel, Hungary and a handful of other territories.
The territories were previously managed by a dedicated emerging markets division.
Indies that secure orders from Viacom channels will be in prime position for wider distribution across the 63 Comedy Central, MTV and Nickelodeon channels now within Lynn’s remit, up from the 39 he previously oversaw.
“Content remains a big focus for Viacom in the UK and we will continue to invest, with this move allowing us to exploit shows across our wider network,” he said.
Cross-network deals such as the distribution of Lime Pictures reality series Geordie Shore to MTV Australia are expected to follow.
The move follows the appointment of Comedy Central UK managing director Jill Offman as senior vice-president of international content in March. She subsequently helped to launch Paramount Comedy Russia on 1 April.
Nickelodeon senior vice-president Andy Goodhand will now report to Lynn, spearheading the rollout of the kids’ brands across the territories, such as Nick Jr’s launch in Israel [Nick Jr. Israel] in February.
