Nets catch Warthogs"What's Up Warthogs!" is a Canadian sitcom (like "Life With Boys") that airs on Canada's 'Family Channel'. It follows two teen rivals; Victoria Jagger (Karissa Staples) and Eric Ortiz (Tiago Abreu), who, after Eric joins his school's A/V Club (Audio/Visual Club), with the help of best friend, Charlie McGuinness (Eduard Witzke), and 12-year-old crazed genius, "brainy" Laney Nielsen (Ana Golja), come together and make their school's (West Hill High) morning announcements into a show, much to the annoyance to Teddy Chadwick IV (Connor Price), the managing editor of the school newspaper.
Broadcasters in Europe, Israel and Mexico have acquired live-action kids’ comedy What’s Up, Warthogs! from Miami-based kids' firm Dolphin Entertainment.
KiKa in Germany, Rai in Italy, Nickelodeon Israel and Mexico's Televisa have all bought the show, which comprises 22-minute TV episodes and two-to-three minute web shorts that can also be used as broadcast interstitials.
The show, which debuted on Canada’s Family Channel and the US’s Disney XD a year ago, has previously sold to networks such as Australia’s ABC and New Zealand’s TV3. It follows a pair of student broadcasters who begrudgingly work together on a new morning announcement show.
What’s Up, Warthogs! comes from Bill O’Dowd’s Miami-based producer-distributor Dolphin, which is also behind Nickelodeon series Zoey 101 and Cartoon Network’s Tower Prep.
