Scopas, Gebeka boards 'Genie'
Key “Genie” thesps are expected to appear in the bigscreen spinoff.
Germany's Scopas Medien and France's Gebeka Films have boarded "Genie in the House -- The Movie," the bigscreen spinoff of Nickelodeon's family sitcom, at the San Sebastian Film Festival.
Key cast from the series, produced by the U.K.'s I Love Television, are expected to return for the €7 million ($9.6 million) movie. A director is still to be attached.
Scopas will co-produce "Genie" with Spain's Maestranza Films, I Love Television and its Paris-based sibling Moi, J'aime La Television.
Scopas has taken German-speaking territory rights. Gebeka will release "Genie" in Gaul.
Pic is skedded to roll early summer 2012 in Andalusia.
