MTV EMAs heading for Liverpool in 2008
Liverpool has been named as the host city for next year's MTV Europe Music Awards.
The fifteenth annual awards - this year's are held tomorrow (Nov 1) in Munich, Germany - will broadcast live across the world from the city's state-of-the-art Echo Arena on November 6, 2008.
"It's fantastic to be back in the UK and it is only natural that Liverpool should host the 2008 awards," said Richard Godfrey, svp of content and and music at MTVNI. "Not only is it the European Capital of Culture next year but the influence of its rich music heritage is still felt today."
The event will be the flagship for a year of "significant brand-associated events for music, kids and comedy" for MTV Networks UK.
"As well as Europe's biggest music awards ceremony, Nickelodeon's Kids Choice Awards will return in October and there will be a series of large-scale Paramount Comedy events starting with the Edinburgh Festival," explained David Lynn, evp of MTV Networks UK and Ireland.
This marks the third time the EMAs have been held in the UK, following the 1996 awards in London and Edinburgh's hosting of the 2003 awards.

Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards UK 2007 Winners Press Release
From www.NickKCApress.com:
WINNERs ANNOUNCED FOR THE FIRST EVER NICKELODEON KIDS’ CHOICE AWARDS UK
Emma Watson, McFly, David Beckham, David Walliams, Ant & Dec, The X Factor & Harry Potter Scoop Awards And Fly The Flag For Uk
LONDON, 20th October: Nickelodeon put the kids in control; their votes have been cast and the nation’s kids have spoken. The winners of the first ever Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards UK were revealed today at the slimiest, starriest ceremony ever, held at London’s ExCel.
An astonishing 3,384,620 votes were cast across 16 Award categories, all of which were decided and voted for by the kids, including Best Band, Best Movie, Best Book, Best Burp, Best Reality TV Show, Best Sportsperson and a special environmental honour - the Greenie Award with Sky.
Earlier today, stars including Emma Watson, David Walliams, Shayne Ward, Holly Willoughby, Emma Roberts, Josh Peck and McFly all took part in the hilarious, sketch packed and slime filled show, which was sprinkled with a touch of the stateside sparkle that has made Nickelodeons Kids’ Choice Awards the most loved kids awards show in the USA for the past 20 years.
One lovely lady who took her sliming in very good humour was princess of TV presenting, Holly Willoughby. The usually glammed up and gorgeous ‘Dancing on Ice’ host got gooey of her own accord by putting on her snorkel and diving into a 6ft tank of seriously slippery slime. The fun factor continued to go through the roof as teen superstar Jamie Lynn Spears accepted a challenge from McFly to set the world record for the holding a note for the longest length of time and the boys themselves recruited went all out to thrash the record set for slinging the most slime at an event by this years’ US host Justin Timberlake …all in the name of good ole’ fashioned fun!
Harry Potter and The Simpsons both walked away triumphant, each picking up two awards. Teen screen sensation Emma Watson, the 17-year-old British actress that plays Hermione Grainger in the Harry Potter cinematic triumph, picked up the gong for Best Movie Actress, whilst Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows - the seventh and final book in the globally successful literary series from JK Rowling - picked up the award for Best Book. The magical movies leading lady, Emma Watson was on hand to gracefully accept her award, without getting gooey with slime in the process.
Other guests including Big Brother 8’s Chanelle & Ziggy, Samanda and winner Brian Belo were not so lucky. The reality TV stars were both shamed and slimed as they walked on stage believing they had won an award, only to find out that they had been set up by the Slime Squad so they could gunk them in goo and shower them in..well…slime!
Proving that The Simpsons legacy is still going strong, the TV show won Best Cartoon, and 18 years on from the first ever small screen episode, The Simpsons Movie racked up yet another award for Best Movie whilst High School Musical’s Zac Efron and Ashley Tisdale picked up the awards for Best TV Actor and Best TV Actress respectively.
The smash hit Nickelodeon comedy series Drake & Josh picked up the award for Best TV Show, with Josh himself collecting the prize and getting in on the action with his fellow Nickelodeon screen stars, teen sensations Claire Holt, Phoebe Tonkin and Cariba Heine from ‘H20’ - the UK’s number 1 rating drama series for kids and Emma Roberts, star of ‘Unfabulous’ and the upcoming ‘Nancy Drew’ movie.
Simon Cowell went head to head with himself and came out a winner after two of his shows – Britain’s Got Talent and X Factor - were nominated in the Best Reality Show category. However, family favourite X Factor came out on top, with past show winner and chart topper Shayne Ward collecting the gong on behalf of the show. Shayne also showed off some super smooth moves on stage whilst performing his smash hit single ‘No U Hang Up.’
Best Movie Actor award went to the legendary Johnny Depp, beating off competition from silver screen hunks Orlando Bloom, Daniel Radcliffe and, erm, Rowan Atkinson.
Masters of the ceremony, show hosts McFly didn’t go home empty handed either. They were named Best Band, ahead of Fall Out Boy, Girls Aloud and Sugababes. They proved themselves to be top class presenters but also amazing showmen as they did what they do best and performed live - opening the show with an electric performance of ‘Pinball Wizard’ and also treated the 2500 strong crowd with a medley of their greatest hits.
Having already released two successful albums in America, Drake Bell (Drake & Josh) picked up another award, but this time for his solo music efforts, winning the gong for Best Male Singer. And with three albums and a stack of awards already under her belt, angst teen Avril Lavigne won Best Female Singer and MTV Hits Best Music Video.
Across the other categories, loveable Geordie lads and inseparable dynamic duo Ant & Dec picked up the Best TV Presenter accolade (well, it couldn’t go to just one of them!); David Beckham was crowned the king of sports, picking up the Best Sports Person award, Best Video Game went to Sims 2.
Nickelodeon’s role model of the year blimp, the I Wannabe award was scooped by Little Britain funny man and everyone’s favourite big kid at heart, David Walliams who is widely recognised for his charity work as well as for having the nation in stitches.
TV’s slimiest awards event put ‘green’ at the heart of the show, with the Greenie Award with Sky. This award put kids in control of pledging to make a series of small environmental changes that go a long way, such as recycling, turning off the tap, writing on both sides of their school papers, switching TV off from standby and walking or catching the bus instead of being driven around in cars. The most popular pledge was recycling - highlighting the waste recycling efforts of the Nickelodeon viewers. Screen starlet Emma Roberts collected the award and took the pledge herself to help raise awareness and encourage kids across the globe to help make the world a greener place. The Greenie Award with Sky is part of a much wider channel green initiative from Nickelodeon towards a greener planet.
The starriest, slimiest awards show on TV will premiere on Nickelodeon, Saturday 27th October at 11am, on Sunday 28th October at 2pm on MTV Hits and on Saturday 3rd November at 9am on TMF.

Best Movie Actress nominee Cameron Diaz is a huge fan of the Kids' Choice Awards and was particularly proud to collect the inaugural Best Burp trophy in the US in 2003. Nickelodeon to launch virtual world and social network in UK

Nickelodeon to launch virtual world and social network in UK
Nickelodeon is readying itself for a major push into social networking for children in the UK.
The children's TV channel, owner of nick.co.uk, is preparing to roll out Nicktropolis, its version of virtual world Second Life, in Britain.
It's also preparing to launch a separate social network that will be tailored towards children's needs.
The strategy has emerged following the publication of a report commissioned by Nickelodeon and MTV into the internet habits of 18,000 8-14-year-olds around the world.
Among the headline findings were that UK children are more frequent users of social networks than those in other developed nations, such as Japan and Germany. Some 26% of UK kids use them over three times a week.
The research also found UK social networkers have larger friend networks than those in any other country - 117 on average.
Andy Goodhead, VP of planning and presentation at Nickelodeon, said it's with these findings in mind that it's launching the virtual world, which will compete with a CBBC version currently being planned.
"We'll be looking at launching Nicktropolis in this country," he said. "It's exciting because it has been so successful in the US.
"But there are perils. For children, social networking isn't about making new friends, it's about existing friends. It's the playground brought into the home, which is something we understand," Goodhead added.
"Also, next year we'll be launching a new show with user-generated content for kids. This will be interesting as they're not great at creating it but they love to watch it. For them to create it you need to give them the parameters, and this is what we'll be trying to do."
Goodhead said that the advancement of the internet would sound the death knell for red-button technology.
"We still use it at the moment but feel that it doesn't have a future," he said. "We'll be looking to online for the future."

Bubble and Squeak is an original UK show from Nick Jr. It joins Bubble the wizard and Squeak the frog as they present stories, songs and magical cookery fun for preschoolers!
From their home in a giant carrot rocket with their friends Matilda the magical book and Muffet the spider, Bubble and Squeak create "foody magic" every day by whisking up delicious healthy treats.
Whenever there is a problem, Bubble tries to help with one of his "trusty" magic spells, but they always end up going wrong! Instead, it's down to Matilda to tell a story to inspire a solution.
Bubble stirs up his magic cauldron to produce a recipe featuring today's magic ingredient - which could be anything from tomato to carrots or honey - and Squeak takes us to visit some children and find out some fascinating facts about the ingredient of the day.
After singing their favourite sing-along song, "The Magic of Food" Bubble and Squeak wash their hands and prepare the recipe, which could be anything from Pizza Clowns to See In The Dark Soup or Bumble Bee Flapjacks. Matilda takes them through the recipe in easy-to-follow stages that everyone can understand.
Once it's finished, it's time to clean up and tuck in. The dish of the day is scrumptious! But has it helped solve their problem? You'll have to wait and see....!
With behind-the-scenes nutritional advice from Fiona Hamilton-Fairley of the Kids' Cookery School in London and lots of magical special effects, Bubble and Squeak make healthy food fun for little ones!

Nickelodeon UK site focuses on VOD and user content
Nickelodeon has relaunched its UK website to include video-on-demand.
The site revamp, by interactive agency Lightmaker, will include user-generated content and new games, with VoD available on every page.
The user-generated part of the site will let children create a 'scrapbook' area to personalise with their favourite content. Users can then share their spaces with their friends.
Andy Goodhand, VP of planning and presentation at Nickelodeon, said the site's relaunch coincides with a major digital push at the channel.
"We're constantly striving to give kids exactly what they want and developing new ideas," he said. "This includes fresh gaming every week and campaign sites giving greater depth of content for every show.
"We've invested in research to understand children's relationship with digital technologies- the hows and whys behind their current behaviour and the likely drivers of their future relationships," he added.

From C21 Media:
Litton upped to Nick UK boss
In the UK, Nickelodeon has promoted Howard Litton to run the kids channel, taking over from David Lynn, who was recently appointed executive VP and MD of MTV Networks UK.
Litton, who is currently senior VP, general manager and director of channels at Nickelodeon UK, will be responsible for all of Nickelodeon UK's operations. This includes five TV channels, three websites and a mobile channel that covers the Nickelodeon, NickToons and Nick Jr brands.
In his new role as MD, Litton will report to the Nickelodeon UK board, which comprises the broadcaster's joint-venture partners BSkyB and MTV Networks.
A spokeswoman at Nickelodeon declined to comment on whether Litton's number two - VP and programming director Debbie McDonald - would be elevated to his former role. "Howard will remain closely involved with the creative side of the business with Debbie and Peter Drake (VP and creative director)," she said.
Lynn added: "Howard is absolutely the best man for the job. He has extraordinary passion for the kid’s TV industry and his wealth of experience will prove vital in leading the UK’s number one kids television network."
Litton joined Nickelodeon in 1995 and during his tenure has helped steer the network from a single channel to become the multiple award-winning number one commercial kids’ TV network in the UK.

From NickKCApress.com:
Nickelodeon's 20th Annual Kids' Choice Awards Hosted by Justin Timberlake Slimes its Way to Become the Most Watched Ever with Kids, Tweens and Total Viewers
Over 6 Million Viewers Tune in with Record Ratings among Kids 6-11 and Highest Viewership of Tweens Ever
A Record-Breaking 40+ Million Votes are Cast by Kids Across Nick's Digital Platforms; Nick.com Scores Its Highest Traffic Day Ever; and 1 Million Votes Cast in First Ever Virtual Sliming
NEW YORK – April 2, 2007 – A big, slime-induced viewership record was set Saturday, March 31, (8-9:30 p.m. ET/PT) during the live telecast of Nickelodeon's 20th Annual Kids' Choice Awards (KCAs) hosted by Justin Timberlake. Despite competition from the NCAA Men's Final Four, this year's event was the most watched ever with kids 2-11, kids 6-11, tweens 9-14 and total viewers (P2+). The 2007 KCAs also set a new record with kids 6-11 as the highest rated ever, and secured double-digit ratings increases among kids 6-11 and tweens 9-14 over last year. In addition, more kids voted than ever this year, with a record of 40 million votes on Nick.com, Nicktropolis, TurboNick and Nick Mobile.
The show delivered a huge 14.0/2.8 million kids 6-11, up +11% versus last year and by far the highest ever. The show was also a huge hit with Tweens (9-14), delivering a 12.5 coverage rating (+12% over 2006), and the most tween viewers (2.6 million) ever. Kids 2-11 scored a 10.3/3.4 million the most viewers ever for the demo. Tweens 9-14 delivered a 12.5 coverage rating, a +12% bump over last year. And 2.6 million tweens tuned to set a viewership record. Over 6.1 million total viewers, on average, watched the show, an increase over last year's record performance by +3%*.
This year's Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards generated a record-breaking 40.8 million votes, +54% in 2007 versus the prior year, in a total of 16 categories on Nick.com and via cell phones by wireless text messaging, March 5 to March 31. The event on March 31 boosted Nick.com to its highest traffic day ever, with 1.6 million unique visitors and more that 25.5 million page views. Kids also cast more than 1 million votes on Nick's digital platforms on March 31 for the first ever virtual sliming, which featured Vince Vaughn.
Throughout the month of March, more than 1 million kids visited Nicktropolis' virtual Kids' Choice Awards themed world where they could stroll down the Orange Carpet, check out the KCA Control Room, and create their own Kids' Choice branded room. The day of the KCAs, March 31, garnered 431,000 unique visitors alone. Almost 12 million of the total KCA votes were cast on Nicktropolis through the virtual world voting booths, with the remaining votes casted on Nick.com, TurboNick and Nick Mobile. In addition, TurboNick, Nickelodeon's broadband video service on Nick.com, served as the fully interactive home of the 20th Annual Kid's Choice Awards featuring a three-hour live simulcast event hosted by Nickelodeon's ME:TV's Alex and Jordan, which garnered 160,000 streams.
Kids' Choice Awards: Best of the Mess, a 30-minute program of highlights, will air Tuesday, April 3 at 5 p.m., Thursday, April 5 at 8:30 p.m., Saturday, April 7 at 12 p.m. and Sunday, April 8 at 5:30 p.m. (all times are ET/PT). Kids can also catch a half-hour version of the awards show this week on TurboNick.com, Nickelodeon's broadband video service on Nick.com.
Nickelodeon's 20th Annual Kids' Choice Awards, featured stars of TV, movies, music and sports with first time host Justin Timberlake. The star-studded telecast featured celebrity participants including last year's host Jack Black, Will Ferrell, Steve Carrell, Hilary Duff, Jessica Alba, Tobey Macguire Zac Efron, George Lopez, Ice Cube, Hayden Panettiere, Ciara, Chris Evans, Chris Brown, Queen Latifah, Mandy Moore, Ty Pennington, Jamie Lynn Spears, Nelly, Jon Heder, Emma Roberts, Jesse McCartney, Ryan Seacrest, Bindi Irwin, Tom Kenny, Nat and Alex Wolff and Devon Werkheiser. Music superstars/platinum selling recording artists Gwen Stefani, featuring Akon, and Maroon 5 had the audience and viewers alike on their feet with hit performances.
Burger King, General Mills and Kia Motors were the presenting sponsors of Nickelodeon's 20th Annual Kids' Choice Awards, with Hasbro, Nestle, Sketchers and Wal-Mart serving as associate sponsors.

Nickelodeon USA Plans To Premiere Back At The Barnyard On Saturday September 1st 2007
According to Nick.com's official Back at the Barnyard website, Nickelodeon USA currently plans to premiere one of it's newest Nicktoons, Back at the Barnyard, on Saturday September 1st 2007.
Back At The Barnyard is a CGI animated comedy series which takes a hilarious and wacky look at what animals really do when humans aren't looking.
Based on the hit Nickelodeon Movies feature film, the series focuses on Otis, a carefree, "party boy cow" tossed into a position of responsibility. But unlike his dad before him, he is driven by his insatiable need for fun and frivolity.
So Otis, along with his barnyard friends Pip, Pig and Freddy will stop at nothing in his pursuit of a good time, while comically avoiding close calls with humans and other threats to their unconventional way of life.
The original party animals from Barnyard are back in, well...BACK AT THE BARNYARD! The new show features Otis, Pip and the rest of their fun-loving farm friends and it premieres September 1!

The inhabitants of Pinata island fill themselves with the most delicious sweets they can find and wait with glee for the day when they reach maximum candy-osity. Only then will they be called to Pinata Central and dispatched to delight fun-lovers at a magical celebration.
Pinatas Fergy Fudgehog, Paulie Pretztail, Franklin Fizzlybear, Tina and Teddington Twingersnap, Les Galagoogoo and Hudson the Horstacio have been friends since childhood. Some of the group are excitedly training for the day when they will be picked, while others are unimpressed by the prospect of being hit with a stick!
All the time, strange new Pinatas arrive in the garden and violent pests (known as Sours) must be confronted. Who can solve the mysteries of the black-market Pinata poachers? And with so much time taken up by dancing and fun, will any of the Pinatas even have time? This is a place where anything can happen.
Viva Pinata is exclusive to NickToons, the official home of the world's favourite animated series, SpongeBob SquarePants.

YU-GI-OH- GX
Yu-Gi-Oh! GX is back with more action than ever! Yu-Gi-Oh! Fans and newcomers alike can now catch up with the thrills and adventures of the Duel Academy gang in the latest GX season.
The series takes place a generation in the future on a far away island in the Southern Seas and is based around the top dueling high school, Duel Academy. This is where promising young duelists come from around the world to train, in the hope that one day they can achieve their full potential.
What nobody at the Academy realises, as the series begins is that one of the greatest duelists of all time has just arrived in the new intake. Enter Jaden Yuki. But 15 year-old Jaden's late arrival on his first day means that he has to work extra hard to pass his entrance exam and make the cut.
Jaden scrapes through and he's assigned to the lowest-ranked Slifer Red dormitory, because of his poor grades. But Jaden is determined to prove that test scores aren't everything and it's not long before his superior dueling skills, combined with his incredible instincts, rock the Academy.
Jaden's friends include skilled and beautiful Alexis Rhodes, smart and calculating Bastion Misawa and bumbling Syrus Truesdale. It doesn't take him long to realise that freshman hotshot Chazz Princeton and old-fashioned Dr Vellian Crowler both believe that poor grades should lead to expulsion - and they have Jaden in their sights!

Pre-school animated comedy series Wow! Wow! Wubbzy is back for more kooky adventures in a brand new series this April.
