Schwieterman passed away at Mercy Hospital in Washington, Missouri on Friday, Feb. 28 at the age of 52, according to an online obituary. His brother, Chad Schwieterman, said the actor died following a battle with stage 4 cancer.

“He recently found out he had an aggressive form of stage 4 cancer and passed yesterday evening,” Chad wrote in a March 1 Facebook post. He did not specify the type of cancer his brother was diagnosed with. “Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate this difficult time. Rest in peace, brother. We love you and miss you.”

Schwieterman was born in Bluffton, Indiana in 1972, but relocated to California shortly after high school to pursue an acting career. He made his acting debut in 1994 in the role of Jeremy on the ABC series McKenna. He later guest starred on shows including ER and Forever, before landing his breakout role in 1997’s Good Burger.

The beloved Nickelodeon film, directed by Brian Robbins and inspired by the All That sketch, centered around Kenan Thompson’s Dexter and Kel Mitchell’s Ed, two teens who work at a fast food joint. Schwieterman starred in the film as Kurt Bozwell, Dexter and Ed’s rival and the owner of Mondo Burger, a new burger joint that sets up across the street.

The film premiered in 1997 and spawned a sequel more than two decades later, 2023’s Good Burger 2. Schwieterman did not appear in the film.

On Instagram, Thompson said that the news of his former co-star's passing was "[v]ery sad!!!" and that he was "[s]ending love to his family!!!".

After Good Burger, the actor went on to appear in 1999’s Warlock III: The End of Innocence and American Intellectuals, 2000’s Fallen Arches, and the 2007 film Along the Way, which marked his final acting credit, per his IMDb profile.

Outside of acting, Schwieterman was in the Boy Scouts of America and “was proud of the fact he became an Eagle Scout,” according to his obituary. He “loved to travel” and “traveled to many countries throughout his life, most recently to Thailand.” He was also an artist of photography and painting, studied martial arts, and was an avid Dungeons and Dragons player.

A funeral was held for Schwieterman on March 4, and the family asked that any donations be sent to the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Fans can also post tributes and share memories of Schwieterman on his obituary page.

The late actor is survived by his parents LeeRoy Schwieterman and Clara Reed; sisters Megan and Vanessa; brother Chad; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Stella McCartney Kids Launches Limited-Edition SpongeBob Capsule Collaboration

The Brand’s Kids Line Teams with the Iconic Animated Series SpongeBob SquarePants for a F.U.N., Conscious Capsule

Stella McCartney Kids x SpongeBob SquarePants

Stella McCartney Kids has unveiled a new unisex capsule collection in partnership with Nickelodeon, marking the 25th anniversary of the beloved animated series SpongeBob SquarePants. The limited-edition collection incorporates iconic characters from the show into a range of apparel and accessories designed for children ages 0 to 14.

The collaboration introduces a variety of clothing items including swimwear, footwear, and vegan accessories, featuring the familiar faces of SpongeBob and his underwater friends. The products are available in styles that cater to both girls and boys.

This launch comes amidst growing concerns about the fashion industry’s environmental impact. According to research published in Nature Climate Change, marine life is under significant threat, with up to 90% at risk of extinction by 2100 unless action is taken to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Fashion contributes notably to environmental degradation, being responsible for a large portion of microplastic pollution in the oceans and accounting for about 20% of global freshwater pollution, as highlighted in reports by McKinsey and JustOneOcean.

In response to these challenges, the capsule collection by Stella McCartney Kids x SpongeBob SquarePants is made from 93% sustainable materials and is 100% cruelty-free, reflecting the brand’s commitment to ecological responsibility. The collection features a variety of beach and skater-inspired designs, including light crochet knits, denim, and tie-dye loungewear made from organic cotton. Additionally, bombers, bags, and swimwear crafted from recycled materials help reduce plastic waste in oceans.

The lineup includes acid wash yellow and vintage wash denim sets embroidered with characters from Bikini Bottom, as well as pieces in bright yellow crochet showcasing SpongeBob himself. The collection also features tie-dye themes on organic cotton jersey, fleece, and denim sets, along with monochrome sketches on pinstripe cotton poplin sets, faded denim shorts, and boxy tees.

Stella McCartney Kids x SpongeBob SquarePants is available for purchase online at stellamccartney.com, in select Stella McCartney boutiques globally, and through selected wholesalers worldwide starting 20th March 2025.

March 20, 2025 – Today Paramount+ revealed the official trailer and premiere date for its highly anticipated documentary THE CARTERS: HURTS TO LOVE YOU. The two-part documentary will premiere on Tuesday, April 15 exclusively on Paramount+. Visit ParamountPlus.com for a free trial.

THE CARTERS: HURTS TO LOVE YOU takes a deeply personal look at the soaring success and heartbreaking struggles of a family propelled into the spotlight by the meteoric rise of the musical careers of two brothers, Nick Carter (Backstreet Boys) and the late pop sensation Aaron Carter. From director Soleil Moon Frye (Kid 90) and produced by See It Now Studios and Candle True Stories, the documentary unravels the deeply moving story of the Carter family, told by Angel Carter Conrad, the singers’ sister. The film features intimate conversations between the only surviving Carter siblings, Angel and Nick, who confront their complex childhood and the profound tragedies that marked their family.

THE CARTERS: HURTS TO LOVE YOU follows bona fide American teen heartthrobs Nick and Aaron, who seemed to have it all, but behind their remarkable gifts was a family dealing with mental health struggles, drug addiction and heartbreaking neglect. Angel unpacks the complicated family dynamics that led to the untimely deaths of three of the original five Carter kids as well as their father. She discusses the pain, fame, expectations, addiction, assumptions and at the heart of it all, critical mental health issues faced by the family, with the hope to honor their journey and transform their past into a message of hope and purpose for others encountering similar challenges.

Through never-before-seen home videos untouched for decades, family photographs, audio recordings, private text messages and their most intimate moments, Frye was given unprecedented access to the family and their personal archives, pulling back the veil on the Carter family as we hear them speak out for the first time: from their sadness and fear to love and hope. THE CARTERS: HURTS TO LOVE YOU features first-time conversations with friends who also live in the spotlight, including Melissa Joan Hart and Scout Willis and longtime manager Lori Knight.

THE CARTERS: HURTS TO LOVE YOU is executive produced by James Goldston, Steven Baker, Cynthia Childs and Soleil Moon Frye, who also serves as director, and is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution. For See It Now Studios, Susan Zirinsky and Terence Wrong executive produce, and Aysu Saliba and Cara Tortora are supervising producers.
