For the first time in 30 years, band members Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, Shane Lynch and Michael Graham grant rare and exclusive interview access, revealing their personal experiences in a band that sold over 25 million records worldwide. The boys also talk candidly about how they grappled with the true cost of global fame and, to try and help close a chapter, they confront the strained relationships and tragic events that have had a lasting impact on all their lives, families and friendships.
They were one of the most successful and iconic boybands of all time – but behind the scenes, conflict and rivalry, betrayal and tragedy led to their falling apart. Now, thirty years on, all four remaining members, as well as their estranged manager Louis Walsh, reveal the truth of what really happened, the extraordinary highs of their meteoric rise to fame, and the huge costs that being in a boyband had for each of them.
With raw and candid honesty and including rare archive footage from the group’s early career, Boyzone: Life, Death & Boybands examines the key events that shaped Boyzone, including the highs and lows of global stardom, the intense tabloid intrusion in 90s Britain which forced Stephen Gately to come out and, after a sensational comeback in 2007, the devastating tragedy of Stephen’s death that struck the band — a loss the remaining band members have never fully overcome.
