Max & The Midknights season one (episodes 1-10 episode guide):
Welcome to Byjovia: Unsatisfied with the troubadour lifestyle, Max dreams of becoming a knight. After a run-in with a thief Max and Uncle Budrick travel to Byjovia, Budrick's hometown, but when they arrive, it is not as Uncle Budrick remembers it. In Byjovia, they meet Kevyn and learn that King Conrad disappeared and King Gastley, King Conrad's younger brother, took the throne and instituted strict and ridiculous rules. Their conversation is interrupted when Max sees two orphans being chased by King Gastley's Royal Guards. Seeing two people in trouble, Max stands up to King Gastley and his guards, saving the two orphans-Millie and Simon. However, Max's decision puts her in danger when King Gastley sentences her to death. Therefore, Uncle Budrick sacrifices himself to save Max and is taken by King Gastley to be the Royal Jester. Max is forced to run away with Kevyn, Simon, and Millie so that she can live to fight and save Uncle Budrick another day.
Meet the Midknights: When Uncle Budrick is held captive as King Gastley's jester, it's up to Max to rescue him, with a little help from her new friends, Simon, Millie, and Kevyn. Max attempts to enlist the help of a wizard named Mumblin, but learns that he's retired and unwilling to aid in their mission. Afraid that she will put her new friends in more danger, Max goes off on her own to rescue Uncle Budrick, but is surprised when Simon, Millie, & Kevyn follow her, determined to help. The four later find themselves mixed up in a royal jousting event, where they are chased by a wild boar. Luckily, Mumblin decides to help and appears, just in time to save them. With Mumblin now on their side, Max and co. attempt to rescue Uncle Budrick, but when a tentacled creature emerges from the moat, Max and the others must flee without Uncle Budrick. Now bonded as a group, Max, Simon, Millie, and Kevyn, vow to return to save Uncle Budrick, together. Their mission clear, the newly formed team decide on their new nickname: the Midknights.
A Midknight Run: As Max and the Midknights plan a heist to break into the castle to rescue Uncle Budrick, Uncle Budrick desperately tries to keep King Gastley entertained. After doing some reconnaissance, Max and the others put together a seemingly foolproof plan to distract the tentacle monster that lives in the moat and infiltrate the castle at midnight. Unfortunately, their plan goes sideways when they encounter enchanted Gargoyles, who come to life to protect the castle. Now, Max and the others must throw their carefully configured plan out the window and improvise. Ultimately, with Max calling the shots and the team working together, they're able to get inside the castle, but not before Mumblin has a mishap, accidentally casting a spell that sends himself and Nolan back to Kevyn's house. In the end, Max and the Midknights are inside the castle, but that's only the first step. Now they have to locate Uncle Budrick and get him (and themselves) out!
Don't Lose Your Head: Chaos ensues as Max & the Midknights try to break Uncle Budrick out of the castle before he is beheaded. With Mumblin's help, they narrowly escape King Gastley's clutches and later learn from Kevyn that King Conrad is alive!
Escape from Byjovia: Max and the Midknights go into hiding, as King Gastley's guards scour the city looking for them. When guards almost spot Uncle Budrick, Mumblin turns Uncle Budrick into a goose as a disguise. It works, but unfortunately Mumblin can't figure out how to turn Uncle Budrick back into his human form, so he's stuck as a goose. Also, Kevyn discovers a prophecy that appears to be about Max and Max learns that her dagger actually belonged to King Conrad and, due to some kind of enchantment, it glows and points the way toward King Conrad's whereabouts. Max, realizing the fate of Byjovia hangs in the balance, decides that it's up to her and the others to find King Conrad and restore him to the throne. Thus, Max and the team devise a plan to escape from Byjovia without being captured. As they make their harrowing escape, they face off with the tentacle beast and, to everyone's surprise, Millie learns that she has magical powers. Ultimately, thanks to Millie, they make it out of Byjovia to begin their quest!
For Whom the Troll Tolls: Knowing there's a prophecy written about her, Max feels confident that the Midknights' quest will be a success! Her confidence is dashed when Uncle Budrick is captured by a hungry chef and the Midknights face off with a pair of ferocious trolls.
The Road Not Taken: After their near-disastrous run-in with the trolls, Max decides to play it safe and lead the Midknights down a seemingly serene garden trail. Unfortunately, Max's choice causes the quest to take a turn when the gang encounters an unexpected obstacle.
The Trail of the Dead: Max & the Midknights unwittingly make camp in a spooky graveyard and are surprised when terrifying zombies emerge from the ground and attack! They retreat to a cave, where they find a once-noble knight of Byjovia whose courage was magically stolen.
A Vial of Valor: Max & the Midknights go to Fendra's cottage to retrieve Sir Gadabout's stolen courage. Once inside the cottage, Millie makes a surprising discovery, but their search for Sir Gababout's courage is interrupted when Fendra returns home.
An Uphill Battle: After battling Fendra, Max is determined to get far away from the evil sorceress, even if it means leading the tired Midknights through a perilous snowy mountain. Unfortunately, this new journey has dire consequences for Max and her friends.
