Waterston will play Naomi, the Operations Officer and ex-handler of Martian, played by Michael Fassbender. As previously announced, other series regulars will include Jeffrey Wright as Henry, Jodie Turner-Smith as Sami, and Richard Gere as Bosko.
Currently in production in London, The Agency is based off the hit French drama series Le Bureau des Legendes. The show follows Martian, a covert CIA agent ordered to abandon his undercover life and return to London Station. When the love he left behind reappears, romance reignites. His career, his real identity and his mission are pitted against his heart; hurling them both into a deadly game of international intrigue and espionage.
Commissioned by Showtime Studios and produced in association with 101 Studios, the show’s executive producers include Keith Cox and Nina L. Diaz (Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios), David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin and Bob Yari (101 Studios), George Clooney and Grant Heslov (Smokehouse Pictures), Alex Berger (TOP – The Originals Productions), and Ashley Stern and Pascal Breton (Federation Studios/Federation Entertainment of America). Jez and John-Henry Butterworth will write and exec produce, with Joe Wright exec producing and directing the first two episodes.
The Agency will debut on demand and streaming for Paramount+ subscribers with the Paramount+ with Showtime plan before its on-air debut. It will stream internationally on Paramount+ in the UK, Canada, Australia, Italy, Germany, Latin America, Brazil and Japan. The series is co-distributed internationally by Paramount Global Content Distribution and Federation Studios.
Recently nominated for a BIFA for Best Supporting Actress for her role opposite Jodie Comer in Mahalia Belo’s feature The End We Start From, Waterston will next be seen in a lead role in Chris Weitz’s Blumhouse horror pic Afraid opposite John Cho, as well as the HBO series The Franchise. Recently wrapping on the indie Park Avenue opposite Fiona Shaw, she’ll also soon be seen in Topic Studios’ thriller Floodplain and Netflix’s Fear Street: Prom Queen, among other projects.
Waterston is represented by UTA, Strand Entertainment, Lark Management, and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller.
