Global hit Italian animation export and licensing sensation Winx Club is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, with plenty of surprises for fans in store. Producer Rainbow has announced that the animated series reboot has begun production, and the company is planning a year packed with special events and new projects tied to the double-decade milestone.
Created by Iginio Straffi, Winx Club centers on the adventures of six girls — Bloom, Stella, Flora, Aisha, Musa and Tecna — as they learn to harness their magical powers to transform into fairy warriors and fight villains. Promoting friendship, courage, commitment, generosity and optimism, the show premiered in Italy on January 28, 2004 on Rai 2, becoming an explosive phenomenon.
After the series’ initial four-season run, By 2014, Winx Club had aired in 150 countries. A revival of the show, presaged by four specials, launched in 2011 in partnership with Nickelodeon and ran through Season 8 in 2019. A spin-off, World of Winx, debuted as a Netflix original series in 2016, followed in 2021 by the live-action drama Fate: The Winx Saga.
