Los Angeles – January 9, 2024 – Nickelodeon star Cooper Barnes, best known for fighting injustice as the impervious Captain Man on Danger Force, is recruiting new sidekicks to join him in the fight against cruelty to animals as he stars in a new comic book-inspired video for PETA Kids, PETA’s division for kids 12 and younger, that explores how to be a hero to animals.

The superpowered Henry Danger mentor (and real-life super-dad), who hasn't eaten meat since he was eight-years-old, covers several ways parents can teach kids kindness toward animals: Don’t chase birds, move spiders in the house safely outdoors—and, of course, “Don’t eat them!”

“You’re not going to be a hero to anything that you eat,” Barnes says.

In an accompanying Q&A video, the longtime vegetarian—whose family is also meat-free—busts myths about raising vegan kids. Barnes reminds parents that kids will grow just as big and strong on vegan meals rich in vitamins, minerals, and nutrients like calcium and protein.

“Try it out! Your kid will probably be healthier, and they’ll feel better about themselves knowing they’re not contributing to any kind of cruelty,” Barnes says.

Other everyday heroics parents and kids can engage in include reading books about animals, visiting a farmed-animal sanctuary, asking permission before petting a dog, and keeping an emergency kit in the car in case the family finds an animal in need.

Barnes joins a long list of celebrities—including sisters Madeleine and Violet McGraw, Sarah Jeffery, PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire's Mckenna Grace, Sia, Bella Thorne, Corey Fogelmanis, Gregg Sulkin, and Jordan Fisher—who have teamed up with PETA entities to promote kindness to animals.

PETA Kids—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview. For more information, please visit PETAKids.com or follow the group on Facebook or Instagram.
