As you can see below, the images bring Gran Gran to life courtesy of Casey Camp-Horinek. There are also images focusing on Suki with Mayor Yukari. In the following shots, we are treated with other special peeks including Danny Audi's Mechanist and Jet courtesy of Sebastian Amoruso. Finally, the shots are topped with a look at June preparing for battle while another shows Aang in deep meditation.
The live-action reimagining of the beloved Nickelodeon animated series follows Aang (Gordon Cormier), the young Avatar, as he learns to master the four elements of water, earth, fire and air to restore balance to a world threatened by the terrifying Fire Nation.
“Alongside his newfound friends Sokka and Katara, siblings and members of the Southern Water Tribe, Aang embarks on a fantastical, action-packed quest to save the world and fight back against the fearsome onslaught of Fire Lord Ozai. But with a driven Crown Prince Zuko determined to capture them, it won’t be an easy task,” reads the official logline. A trailer for the series was released in November.
In addition to Cormier as Aang, Ian Ousley and Kiawentiio portray brother and sister duo, Sokka and Katara; Dallas Liu plays Prince Zuko; Daniel Dae Kim is Fire Lord Ozai; Paul Sun-Hyung Lee is General Iroh; Casey Camp-Horinek is Gran Gran, the grandmother of Sokka and Katara; Arden Cho plays June, a bounty hunter; Maria Zhang plays Suki, a Kyoshi warrior; and Sebastien Amoruso stars as Jet, a rebel from the Earth Kingdom.
Albert Kim serves as showrunner and executive producer. Michael Goi and Jabbar Raisani both direct, and serve as executive producers alongside Rideback’s Dan Lin and Lindsey Liberatore. Other directors include co-executive producer Roseanne Liang and Jet Wilkinson.
Avatar: The Last Airbender will release its eight hourlong episodes on Netflix on Feb. 22, 2024.
