The former Disney exec will oversee content and programming strategy for the Nickelodeon brand across linear and non-linear platforms in the region.
Paramount has hired James Waller to serve as senior director of content and programming strategy, kids & family, at Nickelodeon UK and Ireland.
Succeeding Kelly Wood in the role, Waller serves as “editorial lead” and is responsible for communicating priorities and developing and executing content strategies to drive the performance and brand health of Nickelodeon across all Paramount UK audience touchpoints, according to a release.
Based in London, he officially starts his new position today (March 13) and will report to Louise Bucknole, Paramount Global’s General Manager (GM) and Vice President (VP) of kids & family for UK and Ireland at Paramount Global.
Waller brings both regional experience and a deep knowledge in kids content, having held a variety of programming and content strategy roles at Disney Channel, Disney XD and Disney Junior from 2005 to 2021, including that of programme director within linear pay TV, VoD and SVoD, and Showtime channels.
He first joined the House of Mouse in 2005 on the Nordics team before rising up the ranks at Disney Channel UK and Ireland, followed by a six-year stint as director of program planning for Disney XD in the US. In his most recent role, he was a development and distribution consultant for Aussie production company Cheeky Little Media for six months until January 2023, before which he was director of programming.
